Lincoln Continental: 2016 Revival

This is the one time I think Lincoln should have swapped badges for Llincoln LS8 and LS6 badges on Falcon FG X GT/G6 models. Redesign the interior to a better dash and seats. Then, come out with this new concept car before the Falcon is discontinued(too late now). Just my opinion.

I think the interior is stunning. It's so very different from other cars we see on the show circuit. It's classic. It's basic. And it's soft to the touch, with the alcantara in place of acres of leather. The chrome is reminiscent of American luxury's glory days, but back then much of the brightwork was actual aluminum.

What does velour feel like? Never heard of such an interior material before.

It's soft as hell and fuzzy.

I believe the carpet is velour but the seats are alcantara.

Doesn't look bad, but the wheels are horrible. The lack of suicide doors disturbs me.

That's the thing. Cloth interiors are the best. Alcantara is fine. People forget fabric interiors are meant for the occupants and hide was for the driver.

I prefer the velour.

Jalopnik on the Continentals interior, "its like Elvis never died" It does look slightly boudoir like but comfortable.

Sorry to bring up the 02' concept again but man was that a seriously classy interior, much more Rolls Royce esque. For some reason Lincoln still think people want to strap their luggage in front of their feet

THAT HAS SUICIDE DOORS WAT

I see no justification to NOT make that '02. Even 13 years later it looks timeless.

Plus, that's not luggage. It's an attache case. :sly:

What's a fresh design in today's cars? Not many. If this new concept looks like a RR and Audi, if it's going to copy anything,, might as well copy itself from past designs. The '02 as is, is ready for today's market. The RX8 already showed the reverse doors can work. Surely engineering has advanced since that car bowed out.

Whilst I'm sure you are right - it would be possible - you have to reinforce the body a lot for it to retain it's rigidity, impact and rollover safety without the structural support of the B pillar. Most cars with suicide rear doors (such as the Phantom) still retain the central B pillar. Cars like the RX-8 and the i3 only have much smaller rear doors, that don't really require the door aperture to be much bigger, not to mention they don't weigh anything like as much as something the size of the '02 continental concept.

That center spline. I haven't looked at a Phantom long enough to see how they worked the central tunnel.

All that interior chrome will never make it past concept. Finger marks on polished surfaces make an interior look a mess really quickly. To many irritating reflections off it too.

I've found those spy shots

In the article it says that it going to be based on the fusion's CD4 Platform, which is kind of a bummer, But hey, even Bentley uses FWD based AWD platform, so it should be as good.

It looks Kia-ish at the last one.
