List of current Gr.1/Gr.3/Gr.4 cars and their possible replacements in GT7/8

Even if it’s licensing, PD have added the kind of latest GT3 Audi and AMG with nothing from their GT4 babies. BMW licensing is hopefully ongoing with the E36 finally added. Adding both M4s would be great.

Right, but I think it's something with the GT4 series in itself, rather than a particular automaker.

That’s definitely possible. The Cayman is still the only official GT4 car we have in the game. Supra and TT are close to GT4 spec, but no cigars given.

Gr.4 category is kinda getting overlooked since they could have easily made like 5 or more with current cars and i wouldnt mind if they didnt have 1:1 correct cockpits

maybe there is something else preventing that , but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Since the SRO GT4 season soon come, I’m rewatching the 2024 GT4 European Series races.

Gathered all my RWD Gr.4 cars together and PD really missed not doing the GR86/BRZ GR.4 cars. Instead of the GT86 GR livery, could have built a new GR86. Sister Gr.4 BRZ to match the GT300 car.

Seeing the state of Hyundai in GTWS Manufacturers Cup right now, I immediately thought of Hyundai's next Gr.3 car being the Elantra... Evo/WRX/Atenza Gr.3 style.
Bringing this up again now that Genesis seemingly withdrew as a partner and the feeling that the main Hyundai brand could replace them.

I wonder if PD will add this to their race cars in the next GT , they did added FIA WEC 3 dots before so who knows

Sorry if it has been brought up, a Dodge Tomahawk GTS-R with the BOP/PPs of the Current Viper GR 4/3's. New fixed wing designs to match current class rules. GR 2 could make use of the active aero rear wing. Same as the DTM GR 2 cars.

That sounds way too overkill, even with Tomahawk S' existence.

Even TC:Motorfest gets a 488 GT3 (and a 2024 Red Bull F1 car) before Gran Turismo.
The state of the race car roster in this game is clearly not a licensing issue, it's a choice made by PD (and I don't believe for a second they are holding them back for GT8). Thinking we are going to get any updates is optimistic at best, more likely delusional.

Man, I already knew the Gr.4 Vantage was based on the Vantage GT4, but while I’m driving it in VR, I look down and noticed the plaque.

I went back my garage to capture the pic. After all these years I’m just noticing it’s the actual GT4 car. Why make a “Gr.4” when it’s a GT4? The original Gentlemen’s Vantage race car was the N24. When it became the GT4, that was around 2008. The write up about the car doesn’t even acknowledge the race car. Just says it’s based on Gr.4 regulations for the game.
Meanwhile the Cayman GT4 gets its full acknowledgement as the actual GT4 racing model.

So weird.

So weird.
Interesting , like https://gran-turismo.fandom.com/wiki/Aston_Martin_Vantage_Gr.4 says
  • In real life, Aston Martin built a GT4 version of the Aston Martin Vantage; both the real GT4 car and the fictional Gr.4 car are almost identical, with missing hood scoops and the interior having the steering on the other side (the actual car is left-hand drive, while the in-game car is right-hand drive)
🤷‍♂️

For real. They just mashed both cars together.

The “Gr.4” car has the same scoops and wheels from the original Vantage GT4.

This is the 2014 model with the hood scoops.

We’ll see if PD give us proper GT4 cars due to the increased popularity of GT4.

For sure. I understand it’s mainly licensing, but we’ve got an updated R8 GT3 and AMG GT3. Even if for a limited time or even as five years old models, it would seem like PD have a good enough relationship to have gotten those GT4 models of R8 and AMG GT4, respectively.
Like, how long is the AMG SLS licence for? The Gr.4 car we have is from GT6 GT Academy. It just has different aero and wheels.

Unless all brands have gotten wind of how much the others around them are getting paid, the same why questions are asked. Some members are being held back for the next game. Why? Why hold back updated race cars when PD are still promoting esports to the world with old race cars?
Of course there are other dedicated racing games for manufacturers to lean on, but Gran Turismo is the biggest racing game that’s not Mario Kart or NFS.

Ye with the race cars its just very weird , dunno PD is like sometimes purposely not adding those race variants because of more effort or something - one of the reasons why we dont have the proper 911 GT1 yet 🤪

getting jealous from other games getting those modern race cars too lol

It's funny. I play the other racing games because of that frustration. Then, jump back in GT because I'm a sucka.
True even for me , recently i have tried Le Mans Ultimate so much cool stuff there but as i was driving it i felt something is missing , not sure if GT7 spoiled me with graphics or something but basically couldnt get into it

Here's an idea: What if PD created a made-for-game Gr.4 version of the Lancia Ypsilon, based on the latest model that's also in Rally4? I say that if they're going to make original Gr.4 cars, they may as well use cars that don't necessarily race in real-world GT4 series.

EDIT: Also, with Audi likely bringing back the R8, I would not entirely rule out a new iteration of a GT3-spec R8 coming in the future, either.

Not sure about Lancia Ypsilon its weird vehicle maybe i could see it as a TCR FF car but i dont know about Gr.4
maybe this thing would fit better
