Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel

Good to hear that you like the grip.
Just curious: what are the disc shaped metal weights (?) doing?

I’ve had the wheel base plate pivot a couple of times while playing because it is only held by friction, and I feel I’ve already tightened the bolts as much as I can without damaging them. So this was my solution. It’s a cheese plate and counterweights designed for camera rigs.

So I received the shifter today, and while it took some time to install both it and the H shifter on my Playseat trophy, it worked out ok! (I lost some time looking for longer M6 bolts, as I hadn't seen the "hidden" compartment in the box, containing just the ones I needed 😅)

I have 2 wheels mounted under the pedal base plate to move the rig from my living room to storage, with 2 doors to pass. One 80cm wide, the other 71cm wide. The trophy rig with the shifter plate: a little over 71cm wide. With the H shifter mounted on the probably best hole, way over 71cm 🫠 However, I can still get the rig through the narrower door by tilting it one way – phew! 😆

Here's the result:

The new shifter is in a pretty good spot like this. I could only fix the H-shifter with a single bolt, but sawed a couple of pieces of wood and used them to further fix it with the left and middle clamps:

Rock solid like this, it seems. The position is quite nice too.

To test the shifter, I first started Dirt Rally 2 (wew, forgot how intense rallying is..), then took my favorite NSX to the track in GT7. My impressions/thoughts so far:
  • Really nice packaging, as expected from Logitech (just wish I'd found the bolts sooner lol).
  • Hefty feel to both the handle and body.
  • Easy to fix to the trophy's plate (I hope Logitech will find a way for a future H shifter to fit more nicely on that plate, alongside the sequential shifter 😄).
  • Shifting feels really nice and I got used to it very quickly in DR2 – definitely an improvement over messing around with the paddles at higher steering angles.
  • The games pick it up out of the box, as shifting is mapped to L1/R1 and (digital) handbrake to O.
Looking forward to using it more with rallying and any (older) GT7 cars with a seq shifter 🔥

Well done Logitech! 🙌

Thanks for sharing!

Mine arrived today. I was hoping to be able to somehow attach it to the metal shifter holder bar that I use for my driving force shifter, but the new shifter is waaaaay heavier and more sturdy. The bar doesn't hold it well enough. I tried various ways including using the clamp. My quick test drive was enough to convince me that the new shifter is a fantastic addition. Shifts felt super solid.

Ordered the Playseat Trophy specific mount plate (like yours) this evening. Will arrive later in week, prob Sat.

I'm thinking I'll keep the H-shifter up close to the wheel, and have the new sequential shifter/handbrake down low like where you have yours. And how it would be in a car.

The only issue I have with your config is that it would be a bit strange using the handbrake to the left of the H shifter, no? Like if you were using the existing h shifter in tandem with the handbrake. No car has it set up like that.

Nice! Yeah it requires a solid base. Just be ready to do some filing, as the holes on the trophy mount often don't exactly line up with the ones on the rig... I used a thin round file. Hopefully yours will fit out of the box!

As for the handbrake mode, I briefly drove through Argentina in DR2 yesterday, with an H2 car. The position didn't bother me, better than using a shifter paddle as handbrake. In sequential mode, I'll probably keep using the clutch pedal as handbrake.

Could you share a photo of the file you used please? I'm not so handy with these kinda things. Don't have that many tools at home. Would be good to see what tool I need to buy. I do have a drill though.

Its so weird that Playseat itself sell a mount that doesn't align with the holes on their own Playseat Trophy rig. What the hell is that all about????

If you loosen the screws a bit on the trophy you can align the holes pretty easy and don’t need a file

Looks good, Playseat evolution wise opted to go in front of eachother as you can ensure to fix both securely to the extension so anyone else with the evolution this works well with enough room for the hands. Stacked was novel but not the best way.

My question is though as on my last posts is your say yours has worked out of the box, being on PS5 have you updated the firmware on G hub? Long story short my main laptop has boundary protection and firewalls due to work security so that I cant download G Hub and so never used it or hoped to need to on PS5. My old back up laptop as Windows 7 and i struggling to run a driver to install G Hub and the version of it may even be too old to recognise the wheel. Before i go hassling people to borrow a Windows/Mac or actually take my wheel base somewhere want to see if it is just me experiencing it not working due to firmware.

Assuming you've never updated then it's 100% because you haven't updated the firmware - if you look at the box contents for the shifter (we also do this for the Wheel Hubs) we included a piece of paper that informs you that you need to update the firmware. Unfortunately if you're on Windows 7 then you definitely won't get the newer versions of G HUB that include the necessary firmware updates - you will need a laptop with Windows 10/11 or a Mac running OS 12.0 or higher.

So i went with the Simagic shifter as i was done waiting for a Logi H pattern shifter. Also got the Logi shifter. The sequential shifting feels a lot better on the Simagic, but it will make for a nice handbrake for rallying. Can't wait to drill some holes to secure everything!

Hmm in my case the front holes (elongated ones) didn't align with the holes in the outer tube, regardless of the moving tube inside. At least, if I remember correctly.

This sort of file, perhaps a smaller diameter: https://guitarsandwoods.com/round-f...EH6GfQuF5KIJ0KGcPemalsqgKWgdODfx1MlAwr9b295ms

You can probably just inbiggen the hole with a drill bit, probably a little faster, no need to buy anything

Great! Thanks guys/ . Don't want to pollute this thread with too many boring questions so lets wait until I receive it on Saturday and see how it goes. Could just be seamless. Lets hope.

Could anyone using the new shifter give me an idea how noisy it is please? I do a lot of my racing late night when I don't want to disturb neighbours. Is it soft click or a hard clunk that would rattle through the walls?!

Its by no means noisy or clunky, but it is not silent either. Its probably about twice as loud as the paddle shifters. Mainly its the sound of the ballbearing index mechanism clicking in and out. As a hand brake its pretty much silent.

@Giovani83 I don't have a date for you at the moment, I'm afraid. It should be before the end of the year.

@morfei1 on console things are a lot more resticted as to what we can do with the clutch paddles - it's not like PC where you can just add any buttons etc. and they show up automatically for assignment. It's why we had those Axis A and B options that you can assign the paddles to... but it still needs developers to specifically support those for assignment in the games. We'll keep working with developers on this.

I have a TR8 pro that has a similar issue...back two mounting holes line up but not the center front. I went through several options including with the plate backwards as some recommend.

So for a long time I was using the back mounting holes and the clamp. However, this option only worked by leaving a small gap between the front legs/rubber tabs.

Eventually I just took out the mounting screws and moved the base so those tabs were firmly against the front of the plate. Then just used the clamp. Much more secure now after probably 30 hours of use at 7/8 in game and 11 on wheel torque/strength.

So GT7 has made very specific changes to the podium FFB and their braking seems to have rolled back as well, but nothing on truforce or the issue with the steering angle. Would the latter be something that drive hub would correct?

I know that's a tricky thing for you to answer...but I thought they were in this thread at times as well, but couldn't remember for certain.

I removed the front legs from the wheel base. Mounts up perfectly now on the TR8 Pro. Considering trying to turn plate backwards to slightly lower the wheel. Or might have someone fabricate a different mount.

Slight physics update today for GT7 so will be updating the Wheel tonight via Drivehub to the latest firmware and get ready for this Saturdays Manu race. Will be interested to see if there are any noticeable improvements. Early feedback says there are!

Physics update? Maybe they fixed some of the suspension issues on softer setups. The ND had a ton of issues at high speed when I was grinding it; might as well been a bouncy house on the straights.

"1. Vehicle Physics Simulation
- We have adjusted the control settings for some cars. These include:
・Measures for front lift during cornering
 ・Measures for oversteer during braking"

Hoping that I can trail brake as bit easier again without feeling like the back end us going to overtake me!

I'm curious to hear feedback about the new gt7 update if it changes the FFB situation for anyone. I wont be able to try until later today.

I like the new FFB, compering it to other Sims. I play GT7 from update to update.

My TF settings was at 100 in the game last month, but it was way too much for me now, coming back from other sims. I had to lowered it to 40 and it feels more natural for me, now.

Still, I'm using in-game FFB 5 and in the base at 11nm. I find the wheel way too heavy when I was driving these Mitsubishi Lancers events on SH,SM and SS tires.

The FFB feels fine with other FF, FR and MR cars though.

Can somebody explain to me how its possible GT7's latest 1.52 update does not fix all the trueforce and DD issues on the logitech G pro wheel??? Like Seriously WTF? Its been over 2 months since my super expensive rig has become dog ****, I can see hundreds of posts of people agreeing, countless posts about people switching to steam cause the experience sucks on GT7, (Helped by PSVR Adapter for steam too).

I hope people are not forgetting how shockingly bad the change on patch 1.49, and how a simple software update nobody had the option to decline completely ruined the entire feel on the logitech G Pro wheel.

I didn't just buy all this expensive **** in one go, I initially tried it at a friends house years ago, I liked it so made the expensive purchase, then started upgrading and adding parts with the assumption the experience would never turn to ass like it has now, and now i'm thousands of euro in deep and BAM - FORCED SOFTWARE UPDATE - PLEASE INSERT THIS PENIS IN YOUR ASS AT NO CHOICE OF YOUR OWN - WE'LL KEEP THE CASH
