Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel

Morning all, new to the forum but have been lurking a little.

I’ve been trying to upgrade from my G923 for a while now, but struggling to get Logitech to take my money! :)

I placed an order on Amazon but shipping date is March-April and tbh I want the RS Hub and Track Wheel instead of the standard wheel.

The UK website looks like it’ll take an order but I can’t change the shipping address to Jersey, where I live. I can’t get through on the customer support phone number.

Any ideas? Or shortcuts for me to place an order somewhere.

I’m 50/50 on just going the Fanatec route rather than waiting around for Amazon as I’m not confident it’ll materialise.

Hey man.

Logitech has been struggling a bit with their online store and shipping in general, but things seem to be going smoother now.

However your problem seems to be related to you living in (on?) Jersey.

Maybe @LOGI_Rich can help?

Best of luck. I'm a relatively new G Pro owner and I love it.

Thanks for that, I’d be very grateful for his help.

Glad to hear you love it, my G923 has served me well but I’m hoping a G Pro is a big step up and helps me get back into GT7 in particular

I was also on the G923 before. It is a big step, but also a big learning curve.

The in-game Sensitivity point is fine. It's like he says; they're recommendations. The recommended settings are based on running the wheel at max torque but we all know that setting the sensitivity to 10 when you're doing that makes the wheel oscillate like crazy if you're in any of the Group cars. With the 3 torque that he's running, that's far less of an issue and in fact running higher sensitivity gets you back some of the info that you might be missing by running the torque lower.
This is the kind of thing I was hinting at last week. Could be expanded upon on the Logitech settings recommendations page. You pointed out that GT7 does have in-game explanations for what the settings do, but honestly; they're like 1-2 sentences in total and many people like myself are left none the wiser as to how the words translate to the experience when we drive. It could do with some fleshing out. For example - you mention above that a combo of (Sensitivity 10, Torque 3) could work ok and it'd be interesting to hear how the driving experience would differ when compared to a combo of say (Sensitivity 1, Torque 11). What exact "info" does one gain/lose with each combo?

@MSkybaVR Yes, the UK store has been unable to ship to Jersey since Brexit. I've asked the team to clarify if there's another store that can cover Jersey and will let you know. Alternatively, have you tried ordering from the French store?

@CustomX This kind of detail probably goes beyond the scope of the settings page. "Info" just refers to all of the sensations that you feel through force feedback - some are "quiet" and some are "loud". When you reduce the torque of the wheel you reduce the overall volume of eveything, so quieter effects could become so quiet that they can't be as easily discerned, the same as when you turn down the volume on your speaker and parts of the music track become harder to hear. GT7's online manual definitely covers this though:
・Force Feedback Sensitivity
Adjust the resistance of the steering wheel when you start to turn it. This resistance is an example of force feedback, which communicates information about the road surface to the driver through their tires. The greater this value, the more responsive to changes the steering wheel will become. The lower this value, the more gentle steering becomes when driving in a straight line.
So when you increase the sensitivity you'll make the wheel more likely to pick up those quieter effects in the steering that have otherwise been muted by reducing the overall torque.

Thanks for the reply - I haven’t tried the French store but I will do just in case

Thanks Rich. Understood. What settings are you personally using at the moment?

Sadly I can’t see anyway of doing this. Although I can’t change the billing address country to Jersey, the delivery address country defaults to the store I’m trying. The message suggests going to the cart to change this, but I can’t see any way to do this from the cart 😬
My only other option is ship to a family member in the UK and then to Jersey but that’s gonna be a pain and probably expensive!

@CustomX 10/1 for road cars, knocking it down towards 5/1 for Group cars (although it does depend on the car, somewhat).

@MSkybaVR If I get notified of another route then I'll let you know, but Amazon should be getting the PlayStation version this quarter.

Canadian customers have a "secret" way of getting the wheel - give MOMO in the US a call and they can process the order over the phone.
Thank you for the tip, Rich!

I just placed my Momo GT290 order by phone, $45 USD shipping to Toronto.

Unfortunately, when trying to order the RS Wheel Hub from the Logitech site, I am charged sales tax (there’s supposed to be no tax on gaming items).

Do you know if the tax break applies to gaming accessories and items?
If yes, then we should get in touch with the support guys because the tax should be lifted. I just bought the entire Wheel+Pedals+Base and that's a good chunk of tax tbh!

Tax free in Canada until Feb 15th...
Video-game consoles, controllers or physical game media (e.g., a video-game cartridge or disc).

A look at Amazon.ca shows PS5 and PS5 Pro, steering wheels and games are tax free. Some pedal sets were tax free...just not the G Pro pedals. Weird.

Yes it should be tax free on gaming controllers.

@LOGI_Rich: online chat said I need to fill out a tax exemption form and send it to them, but this doesn’t sound right. It’s not an “exemption.” It’s a Federal government tax break on gaming items until Feb. 15, so sales tax should not have been applied at checkout.

So I picked up a RS shifter for xmas and have been using it for a bit over a month now, really loving it. enhances the immersion of driving older race cars vs paddles even if its not a full H pattern. still looking forward to the potential RS/pro H pattern shifter, im hoping it can be mounted to the same mount that comes with the RS shifter since I am learning the limits of my obutto rig. I am thinking about stepping up to something like a sim labs GT1 pro if I can figure out a good seat option.

however, in GT7 specifically it introduced a new perspective on the torque problem for me. Previously I was using 10/1 for in game and turning down on the wheel for group C and other cars where oscillation became dangerous, but I found that this was not sufficient now that I am taking my right hand off the wheel to shift, it was still borderline hazardous to do so. Around the same time as the most recent physics update, I decided to change my in game torque setting down while leaving the wheel at 11. I have settled on 4/1 in game, and also reduced the wheel dampener to 0 and surprisingly while it overall takes less effort than before there is still a lot of feel, as if I am getting full range of the torque on the wheel at the high end but the overall signal is less intense to the point where I can use just my left hand to steer while shifting. It still has the oscillating problem of course but it is more controllable vs when I was using 10 in game and adjusting on the wheel.

The best part is it feels generally good on all cars i have tried, from group c to slow road cars with body roll to the open wheel cars and all in between, I can get a good sense of what the front wheels are doing and avoid understeer scrub/push with ease. If you go back and forth from 10 to 4 obviously it doesn't feel as good comparatively but in some ways it may be more realistic especially on road cars and after getting used to it, it's been nice not having to think and make adjustments to settings based on the cars im driving, I can still reach the same lap times as with my previous settings, so overall I am happy with the change and will probably stick with it.

I’ve been messing with DriveHub to fill the shifter gap until (hopefully) Logitech can do an H-shifter/sequential combo. Currently running a Fanatec SQv1.5; have also tried the DS-8X. The latter is a bit buggy for me though.

I’ve spent all of last night messing around with various settings and I found nothing as good as 10-1 Torque/sensitivity that Logitech recommends. I think the in game sensitivity level is more important for non TrueForce wheels but TrueForce is providing all the little details you need.
