That's something I've wanted to verbalize but couldn't really think of how to do it. Brandi Chastain said this team has a feel of being the "girls next door." I agree with that, in the way that just watching them goofing off and having fun on TV reminds of other female soccer players (or other girl athletes, I suppose) I know.

I didn't watch it but kind of half watched a recent documentary about it with Michael Johnson.
Not that i'm disagreeing with you at all (i know absolutely nothing about genes).. i'm just kind of interested if you have a theory why 81 out 82 sub 10sec times have been by black people?
If you do have a theory that you feel like sharing... please make it as layman/layperson as you can, (you know what i'm like, i can't do complex). 👍

Hypothesis and no, I don't.

The problem wasn't the notion that black people have a higher permeation of given genes, but the notion that black people who live in former slave nations are athletic because only the fittest slaves survived. "Survival of the fittest" doesn't mean "most athletic/healthy" but "best suited".

That and the fact the film almost seemed to be saying that they should be grateful to the quasi-eugenic efforts of white slavers, weeding out the "weak" black Africans...

This team is both more likeable and plays better football than any team
Chastain ever played for, that's for sure. They should go after some sponsorship deals (not just the lovely Alex Morgan or Hole Solo) as I think it would be good for both parties. That said, Chastain's announcing makes ears bleed regularly.

Beyond the cuteness and likeability, I feel these girls would thrash any of the USWNT sides from the past. Too well rounded now, high quality all over the pitch, faster, more athletic players who can do many more things well than in days gone by, and are doing it against much better competition.

Just watched some of the Tae Kwon Do, watched a british guy smash the **** out of the spanish, but the Spanish guy won by a big margin. In terms of fighting skill the british guy was clearly the stronger fighter, but the Spanish guy scored more points from his contacts.

To be honest seems like a strange way to go about things, can't imagine it is very good as a self defense.
