LOL
On the American Broadcast, they showed the Mexican goal with the Mexican broadcaster.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL

Bob Costas at the end:

"Sorry to disturb you, that was a test public service announcement".

Football shouldn't be in the Olympics. The Olympics is about showcasing low profile sports and athletes that we don't hear about, for them to get their moment in the spotlight. Football goes on all year, with players getting payed millions, they have too much time in the spotlight, they shouldnt have more.

I don't think it should be a senior squad tournament. The way it is is fine.

How did he miss???

Oh my god.. Can you say "most hated man in Brazil.."

Oscar should have scored at the end, but Mexico were the better team all game, aside from the frantic final minutes. Good game, Brazil disappointing in defence, not good enough overall.

Brazil dominated from minutes 45 to ~65. It looked inevitable that they would win, then they conked out until stoppage time.

I agree wholeheartedly. This is completely unexpected for me at least.

I thought it was the last tournament (still not sure why, I guess my ears betrayed me) and I wanted Brazil to win because their history merits a gold medal, but since it isn't I think it is more fitting for Mexico to win.

Usain Bolt shouldn't be in the Olympics then ?

Football is the oldest team sport in the tournament and the biggest sport in the world, it should remain.

The Olympics should be about showcasing the finest athletes from different parts of the world. Since most footballers have a tough season and can't really be expected to play I think the current system is fine.

Better not do that for Chelsea. :grumpy: Rafael was a disgrace.

Doesn't matter how good Brazil are. Sloppy play is sloppy play.

They lost because they turned up expecting an easy win and it cost them.

Well done Mexico.

So quite a few surprises in the football tournament then, Spain being knocked out in the group stage, South Korea getting the bronze and Mexico winning the whole thing!!

Racewalking is actually kinda interesting. I'm not gonna watch 20km worth of it, but I stuck around for about 3.

Not. Brazil has been Mexico's "client" for the better part of 5 years now. Mexico has already won international championships against Brazil, and in general Mexico has dominated Brazil in the last couple years. We've turned in in somewhat of a burden for them. This is the utmost biggest expression of that dominance.

This may be controversial but I think it's not a proper event really.

It certainly looks difficult enough, but it's so odd. I find myself wanting to scream 'Just run!' at the screen. I'd collapse through frustration, like when you go through 50mph average speed cameras on the motorway!

I think it's not a proper event cos I worked it out that the winner was "walking" at nearly 9mph over the full 20km

You can walk at any speed. So long as you keep some part of at least one foot on the ground at all times, it's walking.

It just seems like cheating would be such a temptation. I saw a plethora of yellow cards given, but not one red while I was watching.

That race walking can't be healthy. Looks like the lumbar spine, hips, and knees would get totally jacked up over time.

Looking forward to tonight..Tom Daley in the diving..Mighty Mo in the 5000m..and Womens 4x400m final..C'MON TEAM GB!!!!!!

10,000 and 5,000 Golds for Mo. That is not an easy thing to do on today's sprinter tracks.

Absolutely brilliant.

What a legend! Absolutely love Mo, just ran his heart out the entire race, and still found more to sprint to the finish. If there is any athlete of ours that puts our football players' level of devotion to shame, it's him.
