Hypothesis and no, I don't.

The problem wasn't the notion that black people have a higher permeation of given genes, but the notion that black people who live in former slave nations are athletic because only the fittest slaves survived. "Survival of the fittest" doesn't mean "most athletic/healthy" but "best suited".

That and the fact the film almost seemed to be saying that they should be grateful to the quasi-eugenic efforts of white slavers, weeding out the "weak" black Africans...

Yeah, when looking at it from that perspective, i can understand why people would disagree with it.. The idea of being grateful for eugenics, i find disgusting and i'm sure many of us share that view, and you're definitely right about "Survival of the fittest" thing too.
Cheers for explaining, can understand why you'd shout at the screen.

I'm gutted that iv'e missed a lot of the Olympic action over the last 2 days, but i can say, what i have watched over the last 2 weeks has been really enjoyable, it's just a shame that the cost of hosting the Olympics has been been so expensive.

I love Usain Bolt . Finally, an athlete with the skills to back up excessive trash talk. He just seems like such a funny guy.

USA won the volleyball, right?

Bolt is incredible to watch. The length of his strides is astonishing when done at that pace.

INDOOR Womens Volleyball... What are those weird tops they are wearing? Where are their bra/bikini type thingies?

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. They won, correct? And at school they just wear tight jerseys, to my knowledge.

I agree to a certain extent, i think the difference is.. when Bolt does his confidence talk (trash talk ) compared to when others do theirs, it doesn't seem aggressive or serious in any way, just relaxed confidence.
For me, he clearly holds a psychological advantage over his fellow competitors as well, by not being too serious... it seems when it comes to the race itself, the other competitors, just seem to be trying too hard (all stiff and rigid), where-as Bolt seems to have more of a confident yet effortless spring to his step.

I agree with that. I also think he's earned the right to say what he says, especially since it isn't at any other competitor.

I watched that as well, my favorite part was the Coventry bombing survivor going to Germany and meeting with those who lost their parents to the Allies, just as he lost his to the Luftwaffe. It just shows how devastating Hitler's ideas and actions were, even on those in his own area almost 75 years later.

I live right next to Coventry and you can still visit the cathedral ruins to see how it was damaged during world war 2 bombings. I keep meaning to go and get some photos. It's a shame this short film thing hasn't been shown over here, it sounds interesting.

The playing around on the internet with American Gymnast McMayla Maroney's sour face "not impressed" -- which coincided with her silver medal performance has reached her, and she's having fun with it, posting her own versions. What a good kid.

The pool is not open...

Did anyone see the mascot hogging the camera in the group rhythm gymnastics just now? Whoever was filming it had placed a gold mascot right in front of the lens, completely ruining the serious moment as the team walked out to the floor. I've got it recorded so I'll upload it later.

I really hope Spain beats America at basketball. Maybe that will knock some sense into the entire nations heads that basketball isn't the only thing in the world.

We're playing horribly, but still winning. Paul, James, and Durant seem the most likely heroes.

Live by the three, die by the three. Every American basketball fan now knows how it feels to be a Duke basketball fan on a bad day..

LeBron with a dagger of a 3, Spain with an illegal screen. I think that seals it, barring anything crazy. Good for LeBron.

I love Coach K .

Rhythmic gymnasts are witches I have concluded. That level of control over flying objects can only be achieved by magic.

Samantha Murray has won the silver in the Women's Pentathlon which I think is the last medal GB can win.

So there's pent-, tri-, hept-, and decathlon? I wasn't sure how many more prefixes they could place on "athlon."

The lack of bigs hurt the USA big time this game, but fortunately we had Lebron, which is the basketball equivalent of a nuke.

If we had Howard, Wade, and Rose though, I think Spain would have gotten spanked hard.

That said, congrats to USA, Russia (thank you for beating Flopentina) and Spain.

They could go for the di-, tetr-, hept-, hex-, enne-, I could go on ;)

Now to see if we can do as good job of the closing ceremony as we did of the opening ceremony :D

I like the analogy . I don't think Coach K gets enough credit for turning a bunch of multi-millionaires into an almost untouchable team. For perspective, Americans dump about as much money into basketball and football as the British do for soccer.

USA has too much athleticism at every position that can last for the entire 40 minutes. Spain was the only team that really matched us on that point.

And as for money...I think the Brits need to spend some more on their football...:sly:

Yeah, I was trying not to come right out and say that since it seems to be a sensitive area. I wish the Olympics lasted a couple more weeks so I wouldn't have to watch Little League baseball until football starts .

Football money in the UK is all about the Premiership and nothing else at all mate.

You'd think that bunch of grossly overpaid primadonnas would be able to put in a semi serious effort for their country but they don't.

Bastards have not only blocked the video but have penalised my account until it's removed! It's a 20 second video of a mascot, hardly like I'm broadcasting an event out to the world. No wonder we're going down the ******* in the UK

You mean that no money is put into the lower leagues? I see what you're saying.

And the number of foreign players in the premiership is enormous... Blocking only the very best British players from getting there, or limiting the playing time of others that do make it. The National Team, or GB team, then suffers.
