London Bridge/Borough Market Terror Incidents

It'll seem even better when the police aren't allowed to shoot to kill.

When the nut jobs are wearing what appears to be suicide vests. Shoot to kill is the appropriate response.

It seems to be. Sensibly an officer should assess the situation (because that's so easy /s) and look for signs of a "dead man's switch". In case like this shooting to kill seems the appropriate response, regardless of the apparent existence of such a mechanism. We've seen the pictures of the "suicide belt" (not postable here) and, in my opinion, if it was viable the wearer would already have detonated it given the number of people in the area they attacked.

In other news all but one UK party has stopped today's campaigning for the general election. Can anyone guess who's continuing?

So an update from my Mum, she was one her way back from seeing Dreamgirls, went for a meal when lots of Police cars went thundering by, she checked her phone to see if anything had happened and that's when she heard the news, she then went back to hear hotel to find it was in lockdown and the only way in was with her key-card, she managed to get in to her room and locked the door.

She rang this morning and said that only London Bridge and the Borough Market are shut off, everything else is running as normal.

It certainly is - they're carrying on because anything else would be "what the terrorists want", apparently. Normal common bloody decency has little to do with politics, I guess.
Daring to tread where angels fear to go, I'll speculate that Corbyn's stock has gone up measurably. But of course we'll need the polls to know.

I'd have said the opposite, despite any progress he might have made in the last few weeks. The right-wing parties are the ones that benefit from people being terrified of terrorism, religion and foreigners.

And a Prime Minister who is against the shoot-to-kill policy in incidents of this sort is not appealing right now.

It seems that people have run out of thoughts and prayers for this kind of tragedies. Haven't seen a single one yet on the Facebook.

It seems the police feel they have rounded up the full cell with now 12 arrests.

LONDON (AP) -- The Latest on the attacks in the London Bridge area (all times local):

1:15 p.m.

British police say they have arrested 12 people in east London over the attack in the London Bridge area.

Police said in a statement that the arrests were made Sunday morning in Barking by counterterrorism officers.

Officials said that seven people died in the Saturday night attack and roughly 48 were wounded. A British Transport Police officer and an off-duty officer were among the injured. In addition, three attackers were shot dead by police.

Police say the investigation is progressing rapidly. Prime Minister Theresa May has blamed Islamic extremists.

Both the election on Thursday and the Manchester concert tonight are going ahead as planned.

I couldn't sleep after reading this, this is just disgusting and :censored:ed up.

Was thinking about going to UK for some time but after seeing the recent events, i'm quite scared. :nervous:

What if I ended up in one of these attacks? Or even if it didn't happen then what if I ended up getting attacked by bigots for being "one of them"?

I don't want to imagine the suffer the victims had.

To be honest, nobody knows if it's a cell or not. This is most likely a senseless spate of arrests to keep people happy. Like the last incident in Manchester, there was a lot of focus on a cell and mass arrests only for the suspects to be released very quietly.

Which is the goal of terrorism.

More people died this week in car accidents than in this event. I've got no problem going out for a drive.

You're more likely to die putting your trousers on. And as for being attacked for 'being one of them', you're more likely to be hurt by cheese. It's not like the UK has a tiny Islamic population forced into ghettos and never seen in public you know.

Risk of attacks like this is still relatively low. You're more likely to look the wrong way at a crossing and get knocked down by a taxi if you visit London than get caught up in something like this.

True.

Also i apologies for what i said, I just got a bit pissed off by the amount of hate that's currently going on twitter and feared that everyone will view me like that.

Personally I wouldn't go to London right now, because I hate London. That's literally the only reason.
I'm talking UK wise, not just London but yeah I guess.

If London is anything like Boston, I definitely wouldn't want to be there. I just hate cities.

What about not having elections or concerts during Ramadan?

I'm curious because from those who like your post and not so much you, I recall them liking the idea of living life and not doing stuff out of fear because of an attack in recent history. Yet you're post is the opposite of that, you're basically saying that due to their ideology especially during certain times of the year, like Ramadan or Eid Al-adha, people should hide away and let radical dickweeds take over?
