Looks like we have some new people towards the top.

yeah, I follow a lot of racing and noticed 2 guys PSN, sent them a message, and they confirmed back.

Their experience over us wouldn't be fair, but i'm kinda hoping they make it through as it would make the challenge that much more fun when we get to real cars.

I see Efoss28 (must be Eric Foss from iRacing, who I've raced before) as P1 @ Tuscana atm. Fortunately I don't think Eric will be eligible as he races in Speed World Touring Car Challenge...one less guy to worry about lol :sly:

I was wondering if that was Eric Foss. As a Mazda guy I recognized the name. Pretty cool to be competing against some real pro guys.

Cheers!

Yea that's him

I still haven't gone back to that track... lets see what I can do about him being #1 =)

His first sector and last sector are pretty solid, everywhere else has lots* of time left. 👍

*lots meaning tenths of a second

"...entrants must not have an existing competition driving contract with any motor sports team, body, agent or management company that conflicts with his/her ability to accept the Prize. They must not have previously held a National A or superior MSA license or equivalent in another FIA recognized ASN and not have competed in a national level Karting Championship for more than two full seasons."

eh, looks like its possible, if he isnt going to be in world challenge this season. Would be quite funny I think, to see the someone who is a pro win the competition to become professional.

3rd so far in the West at Indy. Sucking it up at Toscana though. Grrr.....

Edit: #1 in the West at Toscana - 1:44.486

Not satisfied with that. Gonna take a breather and try again.

^ that's fast. I'm also taking a breather. Driving is weird at this track, I don't know if it doesn't suit me or I haven't put in enough time. Kicking my butt

Here's a tip on the last hard left hander that goes around a tree, you'll have to hook the right rear tire in the dirt to rotate the car in a manner that you can just go straight over that hill. Helps minimize grip loss.

What do you guys think the cutoff time will be for top 16? I'm wondering if a 3:35.x will be good enough in the west. I'd like to go back to playing Dead Space 2!

16th for you is only a second off so I'd say no. You never know, they throw up your ghost and pick up a second because you were there to chase. It's a bit early to say who will continue to improve and who hasn't even put a time up yet. Also, it's so early that those at the top are people who are naturally better at learning a track/car and getting down to a quick time but not always the fastest time in the long run.

I wouldn't rest easy until I had the top time on one of the tracks by a couple thenths and a solidily competitive time on the other.

3rd/12th west/overall is nothing to sneeze at though, good job. You got me by .3ths

I would guess a 3:35.0 is certainly safe, 3:35.5 might be OK. I really think plenty of people will be in the 3:35's by Sunday night though.

Snuck in a 1.50 indy last night and a 1.44 toscana this morning. 4th/15th currently in the south east.

Now onto the hard part of improving those times, should be fun though.

I was suprised to see a 1.48 on indy though, till I found out you can cut those 2 corners :yuck: It will be interesting to see how that turns out.

Now that there are 3 guys in the West top 10 that are only there because they are cutting at Indy its hard to say. Throw those out and if you are into the 3:35's you'd probably have a decent chance, but if the cheaters are not dealt with its going to be a different story.

^I saw this. Congrats on a fast Toscana lap.

Thanks. I can go faster. Been up by a couple tenths on my ghost going into the second sector but lose it all at the end, especially the last corner. Have to put some time into Indy tonight though. Have to get that 1:50.

Forum noob here, but been playing GT for ages.

Has there been any word from PD as to whether or not they are going to deal with this? I looked today and was seriously pissed that this was even allowed.

BTW, I used your Toscana ghost to get me to 12th in the West for Toscana. Right now, I'm 19th overall in West (with the blatant cheaters still in the top 16...).

I don't know what you are talking about. Where is it? I'd like to know. :)

After the second long straightaway you make a turn to the left. Next is a tight up hill turn to the left that goes around a tree. I hooked the right rear tire in the dirt to help slide the car around that corner. 👍

I'll check it out. Thanks!

This combo is more about throttle control, if you can get on the throttle just at the right time with as little wheelspin as possible you should be able too improve. Some corners corners you need to get on it just enough to point the car where you want it to go. There are also some places (the up hill just before the start of sector 3) where you can get on the throttle very early.

I just turn early, lift-off, and aim for the tree. You'll understeer right past the tree over the hump and then you can go full throttle all the way to the last turn.
