It all started with the Spec III-inspired thread entitled "Lotus Evora - Who else loves this new car?", and many members waxed lyrical about the lovely Evora and its racey attributes. However...there was nowhere to race it!
I decided to throw an idea into the mix..."Would any be interested in arranging a race event for this car at Suzuka 750PP?" thinking it had fallen on deaf ears, however, the visionary that is GTP_HyperUK, took the idea by the camshaft and sent me a now famous PM... "Hi mate, DC has now tuned the Evora, I like your idea of an Evora race meeting @ Suz. Shall I go ahead and set it up?"
Shall I go ahead and set it up. These words are carved into the chassis of every DutchCustoms-tuned Evora currently racing at Suzuka.
At first, there were a handful of us...racing tumbleweed and particularly rapid blue-ass flies at the great Honda circuit. But word spread of the growing movement. A swarm of Isotope green Lotus were hounding the 750PP backmarkers. They have now fled in fear. The swarm is all that remains at Suzuka 750PP...(that and Drama-Kyd getting repeatedly served in his S2k)
Viva la Revolucion....
Yes, tonight saw the first of many FULL 12-car grids of Evoras. The races were fantastic and a credit to the quality of the members here. I wish you could have seen it Dan, but I'm sure it will be the same tomorrow! We have seen the future, private rooms packed to the brim with fellow board members....and I tell you there's no going back to random match-ups after this!
Where to start...the award for best results of the night has to go to GTP_Marchbrown, always fast and picked up a number of well-deserved victories. Award for most consistent driver must go to GTP_Hun, raced very close all night and almost always at the front, but the thing is he never made a mistake. GTP_Stealthwinnr, GTP_mr_geez, GTP_JvM, GTP_sausages, GTP_fairplay-plz and GTP_awd208 (well deserved win right at the end mate!) were all incredibly fast and I apologise to all of you for the bumps and scrapes you received from me, absolutely none were intentional and many apologies for any races wrecked. JASE, I sent you a PM on PSN to the same effect, I do apologise if you went off at 200R because of me, I couldn't tell and I didn't feel any contact, but you never know.
Later in the night, GTI_Theewar was cleaning up the races, with good grids I might add! Award for most unlucky driver has to go to GTP_DONK, poor lad had to park it a few times due to early incidents.
The award for most error-prone driver of the night has to go to me. I think I threw away many good situations with no provocation whatsoever. Wheels on the grass at Spoon, wheels on the rumbles at 130R, penalties for shortcutting Casio 1, d-pad related offs at T1...hell I even hit the wall on the back straight. A STRAIGHT! Such a shame to waste an opportunity to stay with some of the best around.
Many thanks to Mind_The_Gaps and TGM for joining us, and TGM the way to take T1 for me seems to be to go in on the brake but also partial throttle to keep it steady, apex 1 at around 120mph and down to 3rd gear for the second apex around 70mph. See if that makes things any better.
Great racing and turnout guys, Suz 750 will be ours and ours alone in no time
All the best
