Thanks Mule and Wardez for taking time out to create a great series, was a blast to do the race. I was happy to take a strong 2nd (3rd if LaPierre was there- sorry you got disconnected man I'm sure it would have been a great battle with brosif) I got in a hero run in quali and knew I would not be the fastest car there, but I was planning on staying in the draft and hanging out with Pierre for the whole race. Some minor, but significant early race contact took me out of contention for a win, but I was not the fastest, or even 2nd fastest so it doesn't bother too much, I just believe strongly in super-clean racing and take that seriously as it tends to ruin some of the fun. I came a long way with setting the car up in less than a week and only 2 practice sessions early in the week. P1/P2 were in a different level of setup just watching the replays and looking at tire wear. Still a great time and good to get in a real race distance. A great job by EERS too, battling through the pack to take a hard fought podium. 👍

I won't make it for the next race as I have autocross events coming up on Sundays, but hope to make a couple of more races before the season is out. Hopefully I'm not left completely in the dust with setup by then! :) In the meantime, I'll be hosting my Spec Racing Lobby during the week (all recommended cars, no tuning, everyone in the same equipment etc) and anyone that has participated in the Elise Series is welcome to attend (though I'm sure you'll want every extra minute to practice and setup your Elise for the next event!) Still, if you are in the mood for super spec pickup race than stop by! Good luck to all and Ill be back for an RM Lotus Series Race in 2-3 weeks hopefully. Cheers!

Nick
I wouldnt mind dusting off the time trial practice cars.I kind of miss driving them.

The Triple's way too much fun to throw around Laguna. This car really does just destroy any corner you throw at it.

I'm making a trip across the majestic Appalachian mountains to Morgantown, but I'll be up for some practice later, probably around 9 or 10. I am getting rid of the monsters for like a week so I'll be racing a lot most likely.

Fatherhood... something of which I am not eager to become a participant.

Are tires taking forever to warm up for everyone else?

Did some practice myself. Still a couple of turns where I need to nail the turn-in points down, but other than that, I should be good.

A couple of things I want to bring up for this week, though: Wardez mentioned after the race last weekend that we should limit the amount of people who can race on Sunday to 14 people, which people seemed to agree with. I think we'll go with this, as it's apparently worked for the Miatas.

The other thing, somewhat related, is that people have been telling me that, as I'm the host of this whole thing, that I should give myself a free provisional for each race. Originally, I didn't want to do this, as it seems selfish, but again, starting this weekend, I think I will.

And lastly, sorry for not posting near as much this week. Been slightly busy with some stuff.

Yeah, about lap 4 the tires are warm. But I have found that on lap 2 I can come close to a lap with warm tires. I know I've gotten in the low 25's on my second lap.

i had my first real go at laguna seca last night and holy crap i dont seem to like it slipping and sliding all over the place :|

Make sure you have downforce at max(20-50) and try to make the suspension stiffer. If the car is "soft" it will slide more...

My lounge is open for some practice. I have to leave in a few minutes, but I'll be back before 6 to get the official room open.

Also, Brosif, if you're on, you can come qualify now.

This begs the question if there is such a thing as a question of "How much is too much?"

I'll have the room up about 15/20 minutes later today. Still have to eat and do a couple of things.

OFFICIAL FRIDAY QUALI ROOM:

1472 - 6118 - 3615 - 5264 - 5549

I'd like to know who intends to qualify tonight, because I'd like to get it done fairly quickly.

After the room is closed, and you still want to qualify tonight, feel free to send me a message, and I'll open up a room.

i will not be able to be online tonight at 6:00 for the official quali time due to dinner plans. is there anyone who can qualify me earlier between 2:00-4:00 eastern or later tonight around 9:00-11:00?

Qualifying was a disaster for me. I made mistakes on both laps and only ran a 27 flat. I hope I still make the field.

Specs are in the first post.

Lotus Elise 111R '04 (P)
Oil Change
Full Race Modification - Purchase this before buying any other parts
ECU Tuning
Sports Intake Manifold
Racing Air Filter
Sports Exhaust Manifold
Catalytic Converter: Sports
Adjustable LSD
Racing Hard Tires

the absence of turbo's mentioned above, and the contents of paulmac's post leads to some ambiguity and the reason for my question. which has still not been answered, yet acknowledged, which is confusing to say the least.

its a simple yes or no question. is asking questions unwarranted?

you can't use a turbo because it is not listed in the specs for this series. you can only purchase the parts that are listed above
