I took at look at my replay and Regamaro braked into T1 normally and then somehow went to warp speed and knocked some cars out. Something tells me it's a connection issue although I didn't sense any lag from my end.

I still have to see what exactly happened to Wardez. We were bumper to bumper until about 5 to go and then he suddenly spun and went past me at T1. Maybe our cars warped for a second but I didn't feel any impact. He likely had the win if it wasn't for that.

Not on purpose. I rarely ever have a bad connection but got D/c'd 3 times before the race started tonight. I actually gave up after that thinking best. As I went to see if I was stable in another room a bit later I noticed you guys had the room up public and the race hadn't started yet so I jumped on last min like you saw. I saw you guys talking about the hang from trying to start the race and figured it might be the lobby server causing problems so I stayed in the race but hung back slightly at the start just in case(u may be able to tell I short shift, coast and brake way early before turn one. Or not. Not sure how the lag shows it. Anyway not the least bit intentional. My view showed everyone crashed way in front of me and then cars are flying in the air and I'm in the sand trap all the sudden. Bad connection on my part yes. Lack of skill or maturity on my part no. I'm on everyday for 2-4hrs and compete in solo 1 racing an lapping days IRL. I'm pretty competitive and know how to give a car room. Again I'm sorry I screwed anything up. I'm the new guy I know. I'm also a great guy to run from the back to the front with too.

Yeah don't worry stuff like this happens all the time. It's just harder to see that it's coming since it was your first race.

i was watching the live stream and it looked like wardez caught his back left tire coming into turn 1 lap 26 and he went sideways. he saved it, but at that point he was about 2.5 seconds behind and could not make up enough ground before the finish

Yeah it happened beginning around 49:25 in this replay archive from my channel:

http://www.twitch.tv/wardezgo/b/293170462

(sorry my stupid Skype window popped up as soon as I thought I made sure nothing would pop up. Can't believe I forgot about that window FML)

Anyway! OMG I had no idea I slid RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. xDDDD No wonder you were nervous later on, I almost took us out!

Great job avoiding that man, damn hahaha epic.

Also, seems like a good time around Nurb. 24 will be like an 8:45 or so. Could be a lot less by the weekend though since there's so much track to learn.

Avoid? I simply held my line like I always did and then I saw you sliding next to me. All I could think was, what in the world?

More specifically:

1. Didn't see you touch the grass. I was focused on my braking.
2. Where did you go?
3. What the?!?!
4. I hope that wasn't my fault.

It should be a lot less but it's all about getting a clean lap in. Took me almost two hours to get one and funny enough, I was .01 slower than your time. On that lap, I was actually up a second at one point, 1.5 off and then I really must have nailed everything after the corner leading to the long straight because I gained it all back.

The rear tire wear is pretty bad and that's throwing me a fit in terms of setup. Don't think I will do well here.

Ok at least you explained your situation, and didnt run away from the subject. Appreciate that. Just please make sure you have your connection sorted before coming into a race as competitive as this. Its important, Im sure you dont want to be ruining your own race as well as other's. Just make sure next time you sort it out. 👍 Are you on wireless or wired connection?

yeah, I watched the replay and it looked like a "LOL INTERNET!" moment.
He was actually braking early and then bam! He shot into everyone at 200mph like some sort of Lotus bowling. I have the replay if anyone wants it.
I'm ok with re-do's for stuff like that but it would have had to happen 2 laps into the race not after its over. That just isn't fair to the guys that worked their ass off for an hour.

Yes, if I was the host I would have restarted the race but with 29 laps instead of 30. But I respect Mule's decision of continuing the race, even though I didnt like it.

In retrospect, a third restart would have been appropriate but then again, we were already running late and already restarted once for black screen issues. There's no denying Wardez and myself were the big winners by letting the race continue and were able to run together 1-2 without much interference and pull away.

A couple of things I've learned from my first racing series win:
1. No more weaving on the last lap. Too bad I won't be in a similar position to do just that for, I don't know, six months maybe? I'm always stuck finishing 4th-8th with the occasional podium.
2. My car is best up front, free of the influences of the slipstream. Only makes me dislike the slipstream even more, if that's even possible.
3. Bump drafting means longer braking distance so adjust accordingly.
4. Avoid looking at the lap counter and the split times while leading.

LOL @ #4, but entirely true. I have led some laps and the pressure gets much higher. My heart starts beating twice as fast. :scared: Surprisingly, I dont make mistakes with all that pressure on me(well, most of the time) lol.

That's me the first two-three laps of a race. What ends up happening is either:

A. Be passive trying to avoid hitting anyone and the whole field takes advantage and gets around me. Happens most of the time.
B. Knowing A will likely happen, I go in the other direction and be too aggressive and get sloppy with my driving.

I actually followed #4 until the final lap when my car suddenly started losing more grip and I accidentally looked up and saw "30" on my screen.

LMAO It must have felt so good seeing that 30 in there. Its insane the skill required in this series. Just insane. Apart from some bad moments, this has been a blast.

On the contrary, it made me lose my focus. Not sure how I finished the lap without spinning out.

Yeah, this series was a rude awakening for me, especially at Trial Mountain where I felt I did all I could and finished a wretched 9th. I think creating a setup from the ground up really helped me the last two races.

Okay, so tomorrow, this is what I plan to do:

-Go through the replay to find the fastest lap
-Tally the points again, to make sure there are no mistakes, and dropping the two lowest scores (All bonus points will be kept, though)
-Make a screenshot of the points table, post it here, and post Championship situations (note: this is half of the reason why I'm not allowing Nurb 24H to be dropped; so that everyone is sure of what they need to do and there's no guesswork involved. Makes my job easier, too. The other half was to keep attendance up, and to give it the "big race" feel)

After that's done, then I'll go ahead and make the sign-up thread for the Integras. I got mostly positive feedback from the people who responded to my mass PM (only a couple of people said they were flat-out not interested, another couple said "I'm only interested if ____."

Next Sunday should be super fun.

Next week will for sure will be the first week I don't shoot myself in the face... I'm serious. o_0

Great pics Watson! Love those pics with the dialogue :sly:. Also love that pic of me on the chicane on 2 wheels. Thanks for sharing that pic.

I'm the only one not at least in the 2:02's, with a 2:04...

Typical.

Don't kick yourself too hard. Trying to drive with a DS3 with any type of consistency is a pain and I know how that feels. I actually gave it a shot yesterday and surprised myself with a 2:02.5 the first timed lap...then I was closer to your times after.

Oh, and nice pics, Watson. 👍

Thanks... I have to try and make my failure entertaining. :D
You can't see the rear corner in the photo; but there you actually have all 4 wheels off the road. Pretty ballsy pass. 👍

Congratulations Outlaw on your victory!!!!!! (Johnny Drama style)

I wish I could have made the race to give myself a bit of a points buffer going into the finale but, as Wardez mentioned, I had a previous engagement. I also don't have an internet connection at my new place but should have something together by Wednesday evening. Hopefully that means I can get some practice in with some of you.

@Mule - Are we dropping one or two races? You mentioned two races in a recent post but the OP states we will be dropping one race so I just want a clarification. I don't recall a discussion about increasing the number of races to drop, only which race to add to the schedule. Also, how are we going to be handling qualifying for the finale? It might take a while if we stick with our usual format. :D

Brosif it was after Le Sarthe the Discussion started 👍 and yes it is 2 we are allowed to drop ;)

Not sure about qualifying yet. I'll ask Wardez about what they do for WSGTC.

And yeah, it is 2 races now. My bad for forgetting to change that. :(

How about just running many people at once for 3 laps.
1st one warm-up, 2nd one counts, 3rd one is a quit buffer.

Or we could just invert the point standings! It would make for one helluva race. :D

Well the best thing we've found is to only make it a one lap race. You do your "warm up" by going through the GP track and the first sector of the Loop, as soon as you cross the downhill section just before flugplatz, there is a sector marking.. That's where the start of the quali will be.

Then you have the rest of the lap to make it. We take your total time and subtract the first few sector times up to the flugplatz marker to get your time.

Works well every time.

It's a good idea Wardez, but are we allowed to have 1 or 2 qualifying laps? An extra lap would be nice :)

Considering how long the track is, the 2nd lap will certainly be a lot slower considering the rear tire wear. That and we would be waiting forever for someone to Q. Doesn't matter to me since I'll probably crash out if I can't get the car to get stable on old tires.

AHAHA Dr Watson, best race report ever!!! I liked the "wtf?? nooooooooo! balls!" part. Just the way it sounded in my head was hilarious. Honestly man you should do that for every race report, I enjoyed it so much!
