Fresh off the official Gran Turismo wires (hat-tip to @Kasper79 in the Update 1.07 thread for finding it first):
At the following time we will perform maintenance on the servers for Gran Turismo 5:
Start: 05/16/2014 11:00 EDT
Finish: 05/16/2014 13:00 EDT
During the maintenance, it will not be possible to connect to any of the online services.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
*Please note that the maintenance time may be subject to change.

Edit - I should have had more caffeine - it's for GT5, not GT6. Mods, please put into the GT5 forum.

It starts in an hours time, just hoping it is an update that fixes GT5 data transfer issue where your game data content is not viewable on new PS3.

So I guess there was nothing noticeable after the maintenance?

I was hoping they may have done one final update to provide features to make up for the loss of the online stuff.

Oh well.

Cheers,
Amateur1.

Nothing new. but nothing really expected either. why update a game that dies in 14 days?:P

That would require PD/Sony to keep the update servers running longer, thus creating costs they may want to safe. As far as I know the update servers for GT5 Prologue were shut off when the online services for it were taken offline? So if someone gets GT5 in a couple weeks once the servers are down they won't even be able to download any update?

The updates are available until the end of this month. After that, all updates SHOULD be available for a minimum of one year. (Not to say they will be that short or that long, but.... We don't know the plan.)

No.
Updates for GT5 are delivered via PSN and don't depend on the GT5 servers.
GT5P used its own servers to update the game :(.

Updates for most games are on PSN itself, it's still possible to patch games like MotorStorm and Pacific Rift. Also the Resistance series but they were shutdown a couple of weeks ago. But MotorStorm was shut down two years ago.

I mean, most, if not all, with the exception of GT5 Prologue.

Dunno, i bought those games on summer 2013, but couldn't find any announcement about the resurrection of the MotorStorm update servers. Did they ever go down right after the actual server shutdown?

EDIT: nevermind. It's sad that consoles never offer a way to permanently backup all that stuff and use it whenever we want, wherever we want... i wonder if the Resistance 1 update server is still up, the game used the same method as MotorStorm, but it went down recently, like i said. BUT... after the shutdown, they delisted the DLC. AND AGAIN... they started selling a new digital version, bundled with the DLC. Not sure if it needs to be updated, though.
