Well, if that's the case, I hope JD can push out a deal involving Alex Rios. Because Nelson Cruz is more than likely getting suspended, and his absence will hurt the team in terms of offensive output.

Callaspo has been traded to Oakland for Grant Green.

Peavy has been traded to Boston in a 3 team deal with Detroit. Iglesias to Detroit, A. Garcia to Chicago.

It's a good trade for the Tigers, with Cabrera day-to-day and Peralta facing a possible suspension, Iglesias will provide an excellent fit for his positions. And even if Peralta isn't suspended, the likelihood of him being resigned at the end of the season looks pretty slim.

Shame to give up Garcia though, but it's easier to find an outfielder when the time comes then it is to find a good SS.

Cruz may appeal, although it would make him look like just as big of an idiot as that guy from the Yankees (don't respect him enough to even use his name).

Diamondbacks proposed Ian Kennedy as the centerpiece in a deal involving Samardzija.

Why wouldn't they? The worst that can happen is that they say no.

I'm going to laugh at the team who gives up more than a ham sandwich for Kennedy. Kennedy is going to be non-tendered this winter anyways, so if you want to try to "fix" him, you might as well wait until this winter instead of giving up minor leaguers. It's not like Kennedy is going to be able to help anyone "win now."

EDIT: Oh San Diego... You just love trading for terrible pitchers...

Kennedy traded to San Diego for Joe Thatcher, AA Reliever Matt Stites and a Compensation B Pick.

Young has waived his no-trade clause to go to the Yankees, if deal is done.

Kevin Towers, who might be the worst GM in MLB, actually made a great move. 3 players for Ian Kennedy, who is basically worthless.

This is Josh Byrnes' second time trading for Kennedy as a GM. The first time it was a good move, this time.... Wow.

Michael Young is willing to waive his no-trade clause to go to either Boston or New York (in addition to Texas) according to CBS Sports

As much as I hate the Yankees, NY would be a better fit for Young. Boston seems to have too many infielders.

Justin Maxwell to Kansas City.

The trade of Michael Young to Boston makes ZERO sense. Iglesias got shunted due to the golden offer of Peavy. They have THREE 3B now and adding a fourth is really stupid.

Orioles just sent Hoes to Houston for Bud Norris.

Its going to be a tough trip for Norris to get across the threshold that is Camden Yards. Will Houston at least let him use a golf cart?

Two reasons:
1: Cubs don't need to move Samardzija and and would need to be blown away to consider any offer.
2: Arizona is looking to make a push for the playoffs and trying to dump some garbage to get a solid piece won't do that. Especially when Arizona goes and flips him for a reliever.

Hate to see him go, but he wasn't making any progress this year and we needed someone who could actually get the job done. Unfortunately I thought that would be another starting pitcher but apparently they had other ideas. Wonder who will take his place. Collmenter?

I would've loved the Cubs to get him as a buy low candidate.

I was surprised how few deals got done in the past 24 hours. Glad the Cubs got there big ones done early.

+1, nothing really big except for the Garza and Peavy trades.

THIS JUST IN...

According to USA Today, Major League Baseball is reportedly set to levy a lifetime ban on Alex Rodriguez and dole out 50-game suspensions to eight other MLB players by this weekend.

WOW! What you think about this news?

No he's not expected to be as dominant. Pre-surgery he was at 95-98mph, at the showcase at UCLA he threw 90-93mph. He still has to be a better option than Carlos Marmol.

He was gone because he had Tommy John surgery last April.
Is he expected to close? Thanks for the info. 👍

I think Wilson would have been a better fit in Detroit. They've had closer issues pretty much all season.

Good win tonight, 3-hit shutout of the Rays. Miley was great for a while (minus the 3 walks) but then once he got to 100 pitches he couldn't keep it going. Bullpen came in and did a great job. Goldy with another homer. :)

Playing a makeup game with the Rangers tomorrow, we'll have a rookie on the mound against Darvish. :scared:

Astros crush the Oreos 11-0. Norris was really needed I see.

There's a walkoff: Carlos Santana walks off for Cleveland for the 2nd time in 3 nights.

Look, there's another one! Beltre with a walkoff Dinger as the Rangers win 3 straight via a walkoff.

Rangers walk-off for the third time in a row!!! What an amazing sweep this was. Even better, Oakland lost today....just 4 games back now!

I missed the ending to the last night's game. Finally found out the score at work this morning. Keep up the good work, especially tomorrow, eh Jason? :P
