Thank you to a6m5's Braves for sweeping the Cards. And with a loss to the Pirates today, the Cards have dropped their 4th straight. The Reds have a 1-0 lead in the 7th inning against the Padres as of right now. If we hold on, even with the 3 straight losses to the Dodgers, we'll have picked up a game on the Redbirds over the last 4 days.

I wish I could have said thank you to the Reds for this(or last) weekend. God, I hate the Dodgers.

Edit: I do like the Reds(and most of NL). Best of luck to you guys. 👍

Oh ffs! Leading 1-0 going to the bottom of the 9th. I could see it coming from a mile away. Leading off, Alonso, ex-Red, comes to the plate. Walks. Pinch hitter Denorfia, ex-Red, comes to the plate. 1st pitch, hits it out of the ballpark. Game over. Reds lose 2-1. 🤬🤬🤬

Edit: By the way, the last 4 games, we have scored 1, 1, 0, and 1 runs. Pathetic.

Well, the Rangers unfortunately did not gain ground on the A's tonight, as they beat the Blue Jays 9-4.

Tomorrow's matchup for Texas is Derek Holland against CJ Wilson. The Texas crowd will probably be booing him, but I won't. I actually met him in August 2010. He's a very nice and cool guy. Plus his car at the time was sick...not sure if he still has it.

Brian Wilson to the Los Angeles Dodgers. I can only imagine what the next LAD at SF series would be like if Wilson started for LAD...

Meanwhile, my Astros will probably get beat like a drum in Baltimore, so I'll let you know how that goes. A note from last night is that I saw the walf-off homer Texas put up to win the game. My senses told me that I'm sure (a certain Rangers fan here on GTP) would probably appreciate me reporting the good news with that walk-off jack. Congrats to the Rangers on that. By the way, MLB Network was talking about how that game could spark the Rangers' comeback if the Rangers can consistently keep winning. Next weekend (not this coming weekend), my Astros will host the Rangers in a four-game set.

One last note... the Trade Deadline is tomorrow. Have to wonder maybe if there will be a flurry of trades tomorrow with the deadline approaching.

I think you mean "came in to pitch" ... LAD/SFG have a few more matchups in September. It should be fun.

I seems like teams haven't been waiting around. Peavy to Arizona seems likely, while Arizona seems to be in a rush to dump Ian Kennedy onto some poor team who hopes they can fix him.

Astros, White Sox, DBacks, and co. all look like they'll be busy. Philly has at least one move left to make in the next 24 hours.

Is Wilson expected to be as good as he was before he went down? And what took so long for him to come back? God, he's gonna be with the Dodgers.... :yuck:

The Tribe eeeked one out last night in the bottom of the 9th. Jason Giambi (the oldest player in MLB history to do this, 42 yrs. old) went yard and gave the Tribe a 3-2 win over the visiting ChiSox.

Noice job Jason 👍

Game 2 in progress ... Chisox are up 4-3, bottom of the 8th.

Giambi....... Jesus, I hadn't heard that name in years.

Edit: How awesome is that vid for the fans. 👍

Yeah, the Texas walkoff made me happy. :D

I wouldn't be surprised if they came back. In fact, they were in a similar situation at the end of July last year. The Angels were in town (and at that point, they were our main competition), and we had a record of just 9-14 in that month. The Rangers' offense came back to life in the form of a 10-inning walkoff win, 11-10. The next night, Texas came back to blow out the Angels 15-9. They went on a tear, and then collapsed at the end of the season...which cost them the AL West.

I think they can do just that again, just minus the collapse at the end. Their offense is already looking great tonight, with the Rangers leading 6-3 in the bottom of the 4th. Ian Kinsler is now batting 3rd in the order, and Leonys Martin is in the leadoff spot. Ian just hit a leadoff triple and Adrian Beltre brought him home on a single. CJ Wilson is at 97 pitches.

Alex Avila, who's been awful most of the season, came out and hit his first career Grand Slam tonight against the Nationals. Glad to see his bat finally starting to heat up a little bit.

José Veras, from John's Astros, came out and made a good showing in the 8th too. Nice debut 👍

F:censored:ed another one up. We went from a 3-0 lead in Baltimore to a 4-3 defeat to the Baltimore Orioles. One Astro even stole home to go up 3-0. But... the baseball gods hate the Astros, so in some sort of divine intervention or voodoo magic, we ultimately bowed down and bowed out to Baltimore. This s:censored: is ridiculous. Either the Astros just don't know how to consistently win or that they don't have enough talent to really be better than what they should be. Regardless, we failed again. Texans football- and even Rockets basketball right now sounds better to me than Astros f:censored:ing up consistently. 100+ losses is surely possible now for the third straight season the way this is going.

Just noticed the MLB app is way behind tonight. Says the A's game hasn't even started yet, and it actually started 30 minutes ago. :odd:

Callaspo has been traded to Oakland for Grant Green.

Peavy has been traded to Boston in a 3 team deal with Detroit. Iglesias to Detroit, A. Garcia to Chicago.

Rangers currently losing 11-7 in the top of the 8th. Not gonna blame the hitting (7 runs scored), it's the bullpens' fault. Derek Holland gave up 4 runs but got 6 Texas runs in return. Joakim Soria and Tanner Scheppers combined gave up 7 runs.

Great. One thing gets worked out, and another problem arrises.

HELLO WIN COLUMN!!! Two nights, two walkoff homers! And the Jays shut out Oakland 5-0. The comeback has started!

No he's not expected to be as dominant. Pre-surgery he was at 95-98mph, at the showcase at UCLA he threw 90-93mph. He still has to be a better option than Carlos Marmol.

He was gone because he had Tommy John surgery last April.
