Rangers shut out yet again...when can they learn to hit!? They had the BASES LOADED at one point and what does Nelson Cruz do? He grounds out to third to retire the side. This team has been pathetic since the Allstar break. Make that 2-7...and losers of 11 of their past 14. PATHETIC!

Papi a little upset.

We failed tonight, big time. I knew once we left the bases loaded in the 2nd for the thousandth time this week that it wasn't going to be a good game. :indiff:

It was high, but there was something else going on, obviously.

No it wasn't. When he came out of his stance, he changed his strike zone. Should he have called it a ball? Probably. But was it a ball? Not really.

Which is why I did not call it strike or ball, just "high", implying a high strike.

Not once have I heard a broadcaster say "The first pitch is high, 0-1." One does not simply imply a strike call.

So Miguel Cabrera was thrown out by Chad Fairchild for questioning two strike calls. Based on the TV feed, Cabrera never got animated or was even raising his voice at Fairchild, but was still thrown out. One of the most BS ejections I've seen in a long time, if you're an ump, you have to expect to take some crap from batters. I understand it's technically against the rules to argue balls and strikes, but it's not like it isn't done all the time.

I guess it's not a surprise though since Fairchild is on some sort of power trip and has 8 ejections this year alone and leads the MLB.

That's taken out of context. Sorry to keep confusing you, but again, I wasn't calling a strike or ball. "High strike" can be those pitches that could be either strike or ball depending on the day, or situations.

To me, the ball was JUST touching the top of the strike zone according to the diagram. Most umpires will call that a ball, but there are some, like this guy, who will call it a strike at times. That's just me.

The Rangers accomplished alot today in Cleveland:

-Swept for 2nd time since Allstar break
-Shut-out for 3rd time since Allstar break
-Improve to 2-8 since Allstar break

Texas really needs to get their **** together. As of now, they're 5.5 games back of Oakland. The Angels are coming to Arlington this week. And the trade deadline is Wednesday. Something needs to be done. Now.

How is Darvish doing, I think he started yesterday?

He started out hot, but I think he's been losing, and I know that he was out for awhile with injury. :ouch:

It was another Astros fail. This time, 2-1 at Toronto. TOR takes 3 out of 4 in this series. Toronto is the only team in the AL East with a losing record, but it still doesn't mean they are sorry. Our loser was Cisnero while Janssen won for the Blue Jays.

In other completed games so far...

* The Astros failing is commonplace; the other Texas team- the Texas Rangers, had to accept a 6-0 fail in Cleveland.

* The Mets got pounded 14-1 in Washington, D.C. by the Nationals. Jordan won for WAS while Torres was the losing Mets pitcher. The Nationals got a Grand Slam in the 3rd inning as part of their rout of NYM.

* It was 12-4 in Detroit as the Tigers hammered the Philadelphia Phillies in this Interleague match. Philadelphia has now lost eight straight games.

* Even though their hitting coach has recently resigned, Miami won at home against Pittsburgh 3-2. José Fernández (winning pitcher) and Steve Cishek (Save) combine for the Marlins' win while Cole lost for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

* Derek Jeter and Alfonso Soriano both went deep as the New York Yankees won 6-5 at home against Tampa Bay. Mariano Rivera picked up the win while McGee was the losing Tampa Bay Rays' pitcher.

* Boston went into Baltimore and won 5-0 today at the Orioles. The Red Sox saw Jon Lester win while the O's saw Jason Hammel lose.

Those were all the completed games. Congratulations to all eventual winners, including tonight's match between St. Louis at Atlanta. I also want to congratulate the fellows who were honored earlier today in the Hall of Fame.

I didn't know this, but apparently July is National Hot Dog Month (that's a thing?). With that in mind, ballpark food service provider Delaware North has come up with a hot dog promotion in 10 big-league ballparks, set to launch in the coming days.

Each of the below 10 parks has an outrageously topped hot dog paired with a local beer and wine choice. link

Anyone who can invent the way to load all this, and fries(no chips, fries!) to a bun should win the Nobel Prize.

He actually pitched great last night. He only gave up 3 hits and racked up 11 K's. Unfortunately, one of those hits was a leadoff homerun to Michael Bourn. The offense failed to execute and give him run support. He really didn't deserve the loss last night.

The bun is already there. Now way would I even consider eating that.:yuck: Summer Shandy is delicious though.

Edit: you want the fries contained within the bun also? Heart attack dog.

How about other losses? Also more to do with hitting, or both?

Most of the losses had to do with hitting, with the exception of Friday night, an 11-inning walkoff loss, and last Tuesday night, a rare Joe Nathan blown save against the Yankees.

Same story with Corbin today, gave up a run in the first and lights out since. But because our offense sucks like always, he's up for a loss.

You can't change your strike zone.

I fret at thinking how much any of those cost considering how much a regular hot dog is(at least at Target Field).:nervous:

Just watched a good one end on MLB Tonight...the Reds and Dodgers went scoreless into the ELEVENTH inning. The Dodgers were one out away from being forced to go into the 12th, but Yasiel Puig had other plans. He drilled a solo shot into the left field seats to end it. I heard them say that Reds pitching collected 20 K's today, and that it set a new Dodger franchise record for a single game. Wow.
