Without Guillen, Reyes, or Hanley the Miami Marlins have certainly decided to stop playing "Miami Heat" and go back to home grown talent. Surprisingly, they've had a pretty good time retaining their home grown players even with some Mediocre teams in the past decade or so. I'd take Stanton any day even with his down year this year. I think they'll be good in a couple years.

Reyes is the only guy we got from the Marlins that's lived up to the hype.

Considering Bonifacio is a backup, you traded Buck away, Buherle is still terrible and Johnson is erratic there's not much of a contest.

PRAISE THE LORD!!! We FINALLY beat Oakland! The Astros finally have beaten each of the AL West teams. We were down 4-2 heading into the Bottom of the 9th. A two-run jack put the Astros into a 4-4 tie. Then, a walk-off hit gave the Astros their 34th win of the season. The Astros will get one last crack at the Oakland Athletics Wednesday afternoon. J. Fields won for Houston while Balfour lost for Oakland.

Elsewhere...

* Astros win, Rangers lose. Yep. Astros won 5-4, and so did the Yankees. New York Yankees took down Texas 5-4 in Arlington. Chamberlain was the winning pitcher along with a Save from the amazing Mariano Rivera. Nathan for TEX was the loser.

* Joey D's Detroit Tigers won 6-2 at the Chicago White Sox. Porcello took the winning honors for DET while Santiago took the loss for the White Sox.

* Fenway Park saw the Red Sox win 6-2 over the Tampa Bay Rays. Jon Lester picked up the win while Hernandez lost for the Rays.

* A doubleheader was played in San Francisco. How did Game 1 go? Beautiful AT&T Park. Beautiful San Francisco. Ugly Giants' loss. It was 9-3 in Game 1 of a Doubleheader as Dolph Drago's Reds took care of business in a rout. Cingrani was the CIN winning pitcher in this game. The losing pitcher for Prosthetic's Giants was Surkamp.

As of this initial post, Game 2 is currently 5-3 in favor of Cincinnati in the Bottom of the 5th. Congratulations to the eventual winner of Game 2 of the Doubleheader.

* San Diego got a taste of Midwestern hospitality when they went up to Milwaukee. They didn't take too kindly to the Brewers, beating them 6-2. Ross was the winning SD pitcher while Hand was handed the loss.

* More Midwestern love? Okay. St. Louis took down BobK's Philadelphia Phillies 4-1. The Cardinals win was Miller (winning pitcher) and a Save from Mujica. Losing for the Phillies was Pettibone.

* It was 4-2 in Denver as the Miami Marlins doubled up the Colorado Rockies. Winning for the Fish was Fernandez along with yet another Save for Cishek. Chacin was the losing COL pitcher. I believe MIA is now have their 37th win. In the last-place battle, they're ahead of my Astros.

* The New York Mets had some Atlanta Braves problems. The Mets just brushed Atlanta off of their shoulders with a 4-1 win. C. Torres was the winning NYM pitcher, and Parnell picked up the Save. Medlen was the losing pitcher for ATL.

* What about Villain's Los Angeles Dodgers? They had to leave the country to handle some business in Canada. And they did just that in an offensive shootout. The Toronto Blue Jays came up short- like, 10-9 short. LAD won behind the pitching of League and a Jansen Save. Oliver was the losing pitcher for Toronto.

Congratulations to all other winners of other games played tonight.

I really hope tonight is a sign. We really need to get the offense moving with how bad our pitching is. (Except Corbin, obviously)

The Rangers seem to lose every game I go to. Joe Nathan blew the save. Though I got to see Mo pitch...and he got a standing O when he was announced.

The last Rangers/Yankees game I went to was alot more fun, in April of last year. We had Jeter, A-Fraud, and Teixera to boo. Mike Napoli got hit intentionally (at least us Ranger fans thought that), and the offense managed to hit 3 bombs off of Yankee pitching. Josh Hamilton was intentionally walked in the late innings (at that point he was tearing up pitching, not striking out), and when the crowd of nearly 40,000 saw the catcher with his left arm out signalling the free pass, they all proceeded to chant "YANKEES SUCK". That was truly one of the best things I've heard. Ever. They started chanting it again when Joe Nathan came on to finish it.

Alexi Ogando did okay, but needs work. The Rangers again failed to cash in on early runs. In the 1st and 3rd, Ian Kinsler and Engel Beltre got leadoff doubles, but they were stranded on the bases. Though, the Rangers had a 4-run inning in the 6th, which would have been enough if Nathan were to save it.

On a positive note, the Rangers didn't lose ground on Oakland, as Grant Balfour also blew a save against the Astros and let them walk off.

Unfortunately, it's the other way around. Giants are up, still 5-3, going into the bottom of the 8th.

I just can't get over the fact that the Reds pounded the Giants 2 nights in a row. 17 hits and 11 runs in one game, followed by 15 hits and 9 runs in the second game. Hopefully they can pull something off in the final 2 innings tonight. Though they would need to double their hits and triple their run total just to match the last 2 games.

New York Mets have a better SP staff than the Oakland A's and the Boston Red Sox. Strange but true. They actually have an extremely underrated pitching staff. Too bad that they don't have good hitting or a reliable bullpen or who knows how much better they would be.

Reyes is the one guy the Fish should've kept. Our infield is freaking garbage.

Considering Bonifacio is a backup, you traded Buck away, Buherle is still terrible and Johnson is erratic there's not much of a contest.

Boni is just fast. Marisnick and Yelich will be better.

I told you guys... it's The Future!

Loria better not trade away our youngun's.

Reyes has been great, only problem is he gets on base, steals second, and then Bautista and Lind fly out. At least Encarnacion's still been good.

Would you prefer that he flew out as well?

Astros failed again. It was 4-3 here in Houston as Oakland took the series. Starting a new losing streak after our odd win last night. Another sad day to be an Astros fan; the complete opposite if you're an Oakland Athletics fan.

Soriano is not in the Cub's lineup tonight. Could the trade actually be going down or just a scheduled day of rest for the old man? If he is leaving I will miss him. I always like Soriano and appreciated the fact that he was a good clubhouse guy and seemed to take young players under his wing. He got a bad wrap because of his contract but I felt like he went out every day and played hard. He was awesome to watch in '07 and '08 when the Cubs were good and he could single handedly carry a team. If he does go I hope he does well for the Yankees and helps them make a playoff push. Actually, same with Garza and Texas. He was fun to watch too in a Cubs uni.

When you can win a 1-0 game, you really accomplished something. This is where you have a defensive struggle yet still pound in a run to win. You can't win if you don't score (at least in baseball). So congrats to your Angels, Patrick.

Welcome to the Rangers Matt Garza. 7.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 5 K.

Rangers currently leading 2-1 with 2 outs in the top of the 8th. Fans also chanted "Yankees suck" temporarily this inning.

Nice, good introduction to his new team. I see he included the obligatory 'Garza' throw to first base. That one was right up there with his throw with 2 outs in the 9th against the Brewers that cost him a complete game shutout.

Yeah, that play was frustrating to watch...and became more painful when that run scored.

Hopefully Garza will be a big help with us down the stretch. I remember last year the hype was similar with Ryan Dempster...he did great in his debut but proved to be inconsistent down the stretch.

In other news, the Rangers might not be done in the trade market...they have expressed interest in a right-handed bat. They are targeting White Sox OF Alex Rios, from what Rios himself said to the media. Other options include Giants OF Hunter Pence (I doubt that will happen) and Mariners switch-hitting DH Kendrys Morales.

Also, Matt Harrison threw live BP yesterday to Engel Beltre, Craig Gentry, Geovany Soto, and Leonys Martin. He threw around 25 pitches. If all goes well, the plan is to throw 75-80 pitches Saturday in Cleveland, and maybe starting a rehab assignment next week!

What a 🤬 game. We left the bases loaded THREE TIMES. Just letting these crappy teams just walk all over us. Bull:censored:.

Lol the Jays were up 3-2 going in to the top of the 9th and then lost 8-3 in 10 innings #Lovethisteam

Looks like my Astros will have some Blue Jay problems next. Four-game series coming up for my Astros beginning tonight. All Houston can do is just go through the rest of the season. You can't just forfeit just because you're having a horrible season. So we'll do all we can against the talented (despite their record) Toronto Blue Jays.

Good luck to your team(s) as well.

Hudson for Atlanta had a brutal injury last night. His ankle was stomped on as he was heading to first base. He will require season-ending surgery. Great shame. Hope he bounces back from this.

Player A of the Garza PTBNL is P Neil Ramirez. He was the player many speculated caused Friday's talks to break down over injury concerns. Cubs may get to observe him for a period of time to choose between him or taking the other two PTBNL.

As a Cubs fan very pleased with that trade by the way. :D

The return the Cubs got for Garza is outstanding. Potential All-Stars for a rental. Wow.

Should be, Garza probably would've signed with someone else this off season.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Cubbies have a boatload of money, they could very realistically re-sign him. Plus the Rangers have only been snubbed by every free agent starter besides Yu Darvish - who didn't have the option of choosing a different club (Cliff Lee, Zack Greinke, CJ Wilson, etc.).

Yeah that was brutal. EYJR was a class act to go over and shake hands with him. What an awful play.

Just saw the replay of Hudsons injury...ouch. I know how it feels to have a fracture in that area, it isn't fun. Hope his recovery goes well.

Rangers lost today. It was a pitchers duel between Hiroki Kuroda and Derek Holland. Holland went 7.1 and only gave up 2 runs. He pitched very well but the lack of offense (what a surprise) hurt him and earned him the loss.

Prior to the game, the Rangers honored Mariano Rivera. John Wetteland and Joe Nathan presented Mo with a black cowboy hat and a pair of customized cowboy boots with the Yankees logo and his jersey number, 42.

On the trade front, Ken Rosenthal tweeted that the Rangers are now considering Alfonso Soriano but said a deal is "unlikely".
