Major League Baseball: 2013 Season

Texas pitching continues to struggle...Martin Perez has already given up 3 runs in 3 innings. Sloppy defense contributed to 2 of those runs.

The 1st series for the Tribe following the All Star Break did not go to well. We lost it 2-1. The 1st two games, the Tribe beat themselves, throwing errors, etc..... Game 3 proved to be a good one though. The Tribe beats the Twins 7-1. Justin Masterson took a no-hitter into the 7th inning. A single from Brian Dozier ended Masterson's bid for history.

We continue on our road trip now. 3 in Seattle, 3 in Texas, and 3 in the Windy City.

The Orioles absolutely shredded the Rangers this series, outscoring them 14-7. This marks only the second time this season the Rangers were swept (the other time being by the Blue Jays).

Texas did not cash in with RISP at all this series. Pitching was mediocre to poor (except for Holland, who pitched decent but didn't get run support). The defense was sloppy at times, especially last night and through the first few innings tonight.

Bring on the Yankees. Thankfully the Angels beat up on Oakland to keep us from losing more than a game on them. Though, it's a shame A-Fraud isn't going to be playing in this series...I'm going to be there Tuesday night and I wanted to boo the crap out of him. :(

No sweep against the Pirates today for the Reds, but we did gain a little bit on them in the standings. Only stayed even with the Cards however.

This could be a make it or break it road trip for us starting tomorrow. We have traditionally played poorly on the west coast. I'd like to see that changed, but I'm not holding my breath. We've got 4 against the Giants (Tuesday's game being a double header for the 4th of July rainout, and we are the home team...playing on the road :grumpy:), followed by 4 against the finally-producing Dodgers, and 3 against the Padres. Not a single day off, so 11 games in 10 days. We then get a 1 day breather before welcoming the Cards into town for 3 games followed by a 2 game set against the A's. I'll be happy if we play .500 baseball for this stretch. It's gonna be rough.

So the Phillies, after spending one day a game over .500, proceed to lose the next two games. To the Mets. :grumpy:

Now we're off to St. Louis. We can't even beat the Mets, and we gotta play the Cards.

And after that, we play the Tigers.

:grumpy: :grumpy:

To be fair, you've NEVER beaten Harvey.

...and we've never beaten Oakland. It's something the Houston Astros will try to reverse in this next series. OAK at HOU is among various other series and games. Here is a quick snapshot of some of the new series:

* Oakland Athletics at Houston Astros
* Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox
* Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox
* Minnesota Twins at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
* Cleveland Indians at Seattle Mariners
* Atlanta Braves at New York Mets
* Chicago Cubs at Arizona Diamondbacks
* Cincinnati Reds at San Francisco Giants
* Los Angeles Dodgers at Toronto Blue Jays

There are other games besides these. Good luck to all of your team(s).

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting that a trade between the Rangers and Cubs for Matt Garza has been agreed on. As a result, Garza has been scratched from his start tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks. At this point, we know the Rangers will give up Mike Olt and CJ Edwards in exchange for Garza, but there are more than likely other players.

EDIT - Justin Grimm and one more prospect are joining Olt and Edwards.

65 games. Unless the suspension would have been reduced had he waited to 50 games to begin next year he actually made the smart decision to not appeal. If he gets suspended though and nobody else does that's a huge problem. ARod has walked free once already, he should be punished as well.

Back to the Garza trade...the Rangers just tweeted that there are 1-3 PTBN's. Chicago has the choice of either Texas Player A or Texas Players B and C.

JD said that they might let Garza pitch Wednesday against the Yankees, and push Holland back a day. That isn't set in concrete yet, however.

The Rangers' rotation is coming back to form. Yu Darvish, Alexi Ogando, Derek Holland, Martin Perez, and now Matt Garza. Colby Lewis is currently doing a rehab assignment, with Matt Harrison expected to start one in the coming weeks. After those two come back, Perez will likely be optioned to Round Rock, and Ogando will go to the bullpen.

If everything clicks, Texas will make a deep postseason run.

The Rangers finally found the win column. Yu Darvish pitched very nice tonight, taking a no-hitter into the 5th. He ended up going 6 1/3, surrendering just 2 H and 2 BB while collecting 4 K. The offense came around a little bit too. They cashed in when they had RISP. And Nelson Cruz put the icing on the cake with a solo bomb, his 23rd. Joe Nathan secured the 3-0 win.

Tomorrow, Alexi Ogando will be returning from the DL and going against Phil Hughes.

Meanwhile the Rangers are hoping the Astros can hold on to a 3-2 lead to put us within 2 games of Oakland for first place in the AL West.

F:censored:ing s:censored:! When are we finally going to win a damned f:censored:ing game against Oakland? It was 3-0 in the Middle of the 3rd, and the game ended up being a 4-3 victory for Oakland. Does God hate the Astros? Do the baseball gods not want the Astros to win ever again? Bull-f:censored:ing-s:censored:!!! I swear the Astros either play like they're supposed to always lose or that no one ever wants the Astros to win.

Don't get your hopes up on us beating Oakland. It ain't gonna happen. Houston will NOT win the AL West or secure a Wild Card this season, so don't even look to the Astros to make any significant noise unless they have a leaps and bounds improvement that somehow gets them on some epic win streak.

Anyhow... Astros will try again tomorrow night in this three-game series to FINALLY beat Oakland, just to say we have a win against every AL West team. I take nothing away from Oakland. They are a solid team. I mean- we beat Texas, even on Opening Night! We beat (and even swept) the Angels. We won games against Seattle. Only team yet to beat in the AL West is Oakland. The Astros have tomorrow and Wednesday to get win #1 against the Athletics. Are we going to finally beat them, or are we just going to remain their chew toy or scratching post? STILL stuck on 33 wins. If Miami can turn around their sorry season, so can the Astros, damn it. I'm just disappointed and upset with the losing.

Anyhow... great job to everybody who DIDN'T fail.

Player A of the Garza PTBNL is P Neil Ramirez. He was the player many speculated caused Friday's talks to break down over injury concerns. Cubs may get to observe him for a period of time to choose between him or taking the other two PTBNL.

As a Cubs fan very pleased with that trade by the way. :D

The Reds put on a show against Lincecum. He left after giving up 8 runs in only 3 2/3 innings. We added another run in the 5th off Kontos. This of course means we will be lucky to plate more than 2 runs per game throughout the rest of the series.

Should be, Garza probably would've signed with someone else this off season.

Clete Thomas sucks. I hate him.

Marisnick and Yelich coming up for the Fish. Yelich - Marisnick - Stanton, the Marlins' outfield and core offense of the future.

Bye bye Ozuna. That lasted long. Wonder if the Fish will trade him.
