Who was that guy who got a no hitter on 140+ pitches for the Diamondbacks a few years ago?

Edwin Jackson I believe.

We really need to get rid of Kennedy. Guy is horrible now. Are they even trying to help him figure out what his problem is? Because it doesn't seem like it.

Our losing ways continue. We got blanked 5-0 at Tampa Bay. The Houston Astros are stuck on 33 wins (or whatever number of wins we have) and will have to try again this Friday in Houston when we will host Seattle for a weekend series.

I will only be real happy if the Astros end up having less than 100 losses or if they can get more wins than what they've done the past two seasons. The rebuilding continues for the Astros. They'll just have to figure out how to get it all together and be ANY kind of contender as soon as possible.

Besides my Astros' woes, the Yankees have gone from beating Minnesota's brains out in consecutive games... to now losing two straight to the Twins. The Twins gave the Yanks a 10-4 whacking today.

[UPDATE] Philadelphia just beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3 in 10 innings in Philadelphia. One pitch was all it took. BobK's Phillies are now north of .500 for the first time since June 7. Fightin' Phils for the win (FTW!)!

Any Ranger fans here?

The Rangers have seemingly fell on hard times. As of now, 5 of their starters are on the DL (Darvish, Lewis, Harrison, Ogando, Tepesch), and Justin Grimm might be joining them soon. Thankfully, this couldn't have come at a better time...All-Star break. I'm just glad they're still contending in the AL West. The offense has also slumped a bit...on the current roadtrip they're just 3-4, losing 2 to the Orioles and 2 to the Tigers. At least they gave Scherzer his first loss of the year.

I believe the Rangers will be fishing around for a possible trade for a starter involving either Tepesch or Grimm. The trade deadline is coming up, who knows what JD will do...people are saying that they would like Garza here...

34 innings of baseball in Philadelphia this past weekend. Friday night's game got rained out so they played a doubleheader on Saturday, both games of which went into extra innings. Then Sunday's game also went into overtime.

I haven't seen so many games of a series go into extra innings since the 1980 NLCS when four of the five games went into overtime.

Bring on the All-Star stuff! Tonight is the Home Run Derby. Good luck to all participants in this year's Home Run Derby at Citi Field. Lot of balls will be smoked hard off the end of the bat and into the stands.

Everything granted that Mother Nature doesn't have a problem with the MLB All-Star activities all this time...

Well, 95 degrees isn't really "lacking problems".

I'm picking either Fielder or Davis to win. Harper will be fun to watch too.

Though, I'm pissed that McCutchen didn't make NL squad. If he did, he'd be my choice to win.

So I don't forget, I'd like to congratulate Tim Lincecum (whom I'm a fan of) for his no-hitter. It only enhances his awesomeness. Only thing better would have been if Tim Lincecum pitched a Perfect Game. Could you imagine multiple pitchers on one team who pitched a no-hitter and/or a Perfect Game? That means you have a solid pitching staff. But anyways, congrats, Tim Lincecum!

When I mentioned "Mother Nature" and the All-Star Game, I was mainly meaning no rain or anything to spoil the activities.

Knew he'd win. Dude is a monster.

Can you believe this year's All-Star Game will be the 84th one ever played in Major League Baseball history? You hear so much about baseball history and how far back games go. It's crazy!

Anyhow, this year's game is at a National League park- Citi Field, home of Blitz24's New York Mets. It's the American League against the National League as usual. My Astros are now an American League team. So to support my boys, I'm likely siding with the AL to support my team. Of course, it used to be that the NL kept getting schooled by the AL. These days and years, the NL has ripped the AL a new one. What's going to happen this year? And as our own Omnis once said- "AL plays money, NL plays baseball." So who you got winning this year's All-Star Game: the American League or the National League?

Good luck to both the AL And NL in tonight's All-Star Game.

Glad the AL won...hopefully my Rangers can take advantage of it and get to the World Series, and win it.

Though, I thought it was very nice of Fox to stay on the air after the singing of Sweet Caroline and show Mariano Rivera entering...and the standing O he got from both teams and the fans.

As much as I hate the Yankees, Mo is a class act. I know I'll miss him next season. Also, the C7 Stingray he got was awesome!

Amen on the Fox production. Rivera in his prime just might've been the most intimidating figure I ever saw in any sports.

I was hoping for a lead off HR from Trout, but a double is fine.

Hernandez and Fernandez were both filthy.

It was 3-0 in favor of the American League last night in the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Chris Sale (CHW, AL) was the winning pitcher with a Joe Nathan (TEX, AL) Save. Patrick Corbin (ARI, NL) was the loser for the NL. This obviously makes GTP's R1600Turbo disappointed that Corbin was the losing pitcher. I saw most of the game. The one thing that stood out to me was how quickly the AL was in business. Very first pitch- base hit for the American League. It was sad seeing Robinson Cano get taken out. I was also surprised seeing Prince Fielder go for a Triple. Like... since when did big Prince Fielder have a Lamborghini V12 in him? It was very classy seeing Mariano Rivera get the love that he got when he came into the game. Overall, it was pretty cool seeing all the action.

Just remember- there is still a LOT of baseball left. Celebrate your team for doing well, or cheer on your team to do better if they are in the dumps. Current leaders may fall apart moving towards the postseason. Teams with great leads may somehow fail and end up having to settle for next season. Teams with pathetic seasons may somehow reach the postseason and perhaps could go far (like the 2005 Houston Astros). You can't script baseball. So keep hope alive for all of your teams moving forward.

Again- the action resumes this Friday! Good luck to all of your team(s).

The last weeks of July after the All-Star break are my second favorite time of the season (behind the postseason)....trade deadline. Some teams are going to be pushing to get the piece that completes their winning puzzle. It's just exciting to hear all of the rumors and such...they pick up in intensity around this time of year and I just love it.

The Rangers really didn't do anything TOO big last year...they traded for Geovany Soto and Ryan Dempster from the Cubs. And prior to that, they signed Roy Oswalt to a minor league contract. Soto proved to be a small spark, but Napoli was by far the superior catcher in terms of offense. Dempster had some good starts, but proved to be too hit-and-miss in terms of his starts. One start would be 7 IP with 1-2 runs given up and run support, the next would be 4 IP with 6 runs given up and no run support. Oswalt started off decent at first (I remember being at his first game back in the majors, against the Rockies), but he started to go downhill, and that's why the Rangers got Dempster. Oswalt then became the longman in the pen.

Who knows what JD has up his sleeve...Manny Ramirez is returning to form down at Round Rock. Surely he has something else planned...

On the note of Oswalt, I can't believe Oswalt is doing poor with the Rockies. He's winless and has lost all of the games he has started if I'm not mistaken. I think he needs to either be a reliever or just retire. Last year Oswalt seemed better coming out of the pen than starting.
