Rangers are already leading the A's 4-2. This game feels like a playoff game to me...it has that "must win" feeling to it. Nelson Cruz drilled a 2-run homer to dead center. That 45 minute talk Wash gave them has helped....since then, the Rangers have scored 31 runs including the 4 they've put tonight.

Unfortunately, Alexi Ogando is at 67 pitches through 2 and a third.

On another note, I capped an Albert Pujols Cardinals jersey for just $10. :D

Jurickson Profar, widely regarded as the top prospect in baseball, just hit a 2-run shot to the left field corner to make it a 6-2 Texas lead. Tommy Milone was just pulled.

Speaking of Profar, guess what his very first MLB hit was? If you guessed homerun, you're right...last Seotember against the Indians.

The Houston Astros lost 4-3 in 13 innings in Minneapolis. Minnesota led 1-0 in the Top of the 5th when I checked into this game. Astros led 3-2 into the Bottom of the 9th until the Twins tied it. And... a walk-off extra base hit buried my Astros for their 72nd loss of the season. Astros basically playing for pride, or to try to avoid having the worst win-loss record for the third straight season. Twins win. Two more games in this series before this one wraps up.

Rangers secured an 8-3 win over the A's tonight. They've now won 5 straight and are just 2.5 games back, and with Garza on the mound tomorrow, I feel confident that they can win their 6th straight.

But, Alexi Ogando needs to go back into the bullpen. It will more than likely happen when Matt Harrison and Colby Lewis come back, whichever one comes back first.

Agreed. Ogando is simply not starter material. 3 ER in 4 IP is simply not starting material. Heck, put Sheppards in as a starter for a while than that piece of trash.

I know that I am saying some bad stuff, but it is for the best interest of my team...

Welcome to my world.

Scheppers needs to stay in the bullpen. He has done fairly well in his role as a setup man and his other relief work. Stretching him out and throwing him into the starting rotation might prove costly, as we learned with Neftali Feliz...

Thankfully he only gave up 3 runs and got run support. His issue was command...he just simply was not throwing strikes early on (which is why he had a 30-something pitch first inning). He seemed to settle down and throw more strikes as the game went on. If his pitch count wasn't so high, he would have stayed in for another inning or two.

Once Harrison and Lewis get back, I see Ogando going to the bullpen and becoming either the longman or a middle reliever. Ross Wolf will probably get optioned to Round Rock, and so will Martin Perez.

THIS JUST IN...

Alex Rodriguez will be suspended Monday, likely through the end of the 2014 season. This is according to what I read on ESPN. So no lifetime ban. I also read 12 other players from the whole Biogenesis deal will also be suspended.

Well... what do you think about this?

I'm a casual fan at best, but how relevant will he be by the time he's allowed back? I mean is he any good now?

Astros lose an offensive shootout 6-4. Are we returning home getting swept? Houston will if they lose tomorrow's finale at the Twins. Just bring on 2014 at this point because there's nothing to play for in 2013 for the Astros.

From a craptacular team to a ballin' team... congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers in pulling off a franchise-record 13 straight road wins, as they won today at the Chicago Cubs. Their previous record was 12 straight road game wins set back in 1924. My grandmother was born the year LAD accomplished that 12-straight road game streak!

Yeah, MLB Network carried the ARI at BOS game. Sucks that Corbin took the loss to fall to 12-3 after the Diamondbacks fell 5-2. Looks like a Rubber Game at Fenway Park is in order.

If our bullpen was so horrible we would be on a 6 game winning streak. Ugh.

Was or wasn't?

Mets season officially ended Friday as Wright will be out for 3 to 5 weeks. I will be shocked if in that span they manage to go .500.

John, you realize that your Astros have a better record since the All Star break than the Phillies, right?

REALLY? That's insane considering the woeful season 2013 has been for the Astros. Phillies are still a very good team, but if that's true about the Astros having a better record after the All-Star Break, that's crazy. But, hey... we'll take it! :D

Rubber game in Oakland between the A's and Rangers today. Matt Garza pitched very well for Texas yesterday, but gave up 3 in the first inning (2 were on a Yoenis Cespedes homer), and then only gave up one more run throughout his 8 IP. The bats did not give him enough run support.

Today it's Derek Holland (8-6, 3.18 ERA) against AJ Griffin (10-7, 3.90 ERA).

Why is it that we do ok in games until I start listening?
It can seem that way sometimes. Just remember it's just a coincidence. Thing like this is easy to get in the heads of the fans of mediocre teams(Go Blazers! lol).

Twins swept my Astros. Today's fail was a 3-2 Twins victory. The Astros can either end their losing ways or extend them losing when we host Boston starting tomorrow night. "Astros" and "losing" is getting quite redundant. Tough season and no expectations, but this is ridiculous.

Other GTPlaneteers saw their teams fail today as well, including... a St. Louis 15-2 beat down of Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds, Omnis's Miami Marlins failing 2-0 hosting Nicksflix's Cleveland Indians, Blitz24's New York Mets losing at home 6-2 to Kansas City, and R1600Turbo's Arizona Diamondbacks failing 4-0 at Boston. As they say- misery loves company.

Joey D, however, smiling from ear to ear with his Detroit Tigers taking down the Chicago White Sox 3-2.
