I read Josh Hamilton is out 6-8 weeks with his injury. Sad news for Angels fans.

BOTH Texas teams lost today. The Texas Rangers lost 4-2 at Boston, and my Astros lost 7-3 at Toronto. I goofed in one of my more recent comments. I forgot we won a game agaisnt the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, so we have three wins, not two. The HOU at TOR game was televised on ESPN2- meaning we were guaranteed to lose.

Series finale between HOU and TOR coming up tomorrow. We're heading to Arlington, TX for our next series either getting swept in Toronto or taking one out of three from Toronto.

On the bright side, however, Astros games on ESPN/2 means that people in Houston can actually watch the game. We were doing pretty good up until the 7th inning... started going downhill from there.

That's true. I can't really remember the last time I remember seeing the Astros live on TV since Comcast SportsNet Houston hit the airwaves. Maybe the last game I remember seeing the Astros live was when the Astros played at the Cubs on the final-ever Astros game on FOX Sports Houston in 2012. I even watch (for example) NBA TV for Houston Rockets telecasts not picked up nationally. The Astros will get better. Just a matter of when will that time come rather than if they'll ever be good again.

You all enjoy your Thursday baseball today and tonight.

It looked as if Texas was going to win. With a 2-1 lead late, Neal Cotts came on. He gave up a mammoth 3-run homer to Big Papi, the second blown save on the roadtrip for him.

The bright side to all of this? Robbie Ross was excellent, only allowing 1 unearned. The only issue was his command...there were points where he couldn't throw strikes.

We're off today, then coming home for a series with the Astros. Colby Lewis, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012, is expected to start Saturday night. Our rotation is slowly getting back to form. We already had Martin Perez, then Yu Darvish returned, and now Colby Lewis. We just need Matt Harrison (which probably will be soon) and Derek Holland (which won't be soon).

I found out the Astros won 6-4 last night at Toronto. This weekend begins a three-game set for the Houston Astros at the Texas Rangers.

Good luck to all your team(s) this weekend.

Color me surprised...the Astros and Rangers are scoreless in the 10th inning. Both starters pitched deep into the game. Yu Darvish only allowed one hit through 8. He'll get a no-decision. Scott Feldman also did well in his return to his former home.

Texas has left several runners on base tonight, but none crossed home. Bases were loaded in the bottom of the 9th but Elvis Andrus grounded to first.

I also noticed how patient Shin-Soo Choo is at the plate. He's walked three times tonight.

I never thought I would say this, but...
The Astros bullpen looks somewhat decent (from what I'm able to watch via MLB network)

12 innings, and it's over. Robinson Chirinos singled home Kevin Kouzmanoff to win it.

But, 15 runners stranded on base is pathetic IMO, no matter who you're playing.

Yep. 1-0 , Texas Rangers over my Astros last night in Arlington and in 12 innings. Game 2 of 3 is tonight.

Tanner Scheppers will be pitching for Texas tonight. Hopefully the offense won't strand so many runners tonight. Colby Lewis is very close to returning, but not in time for tonight.

I was uncomfortable when I learned we were leading the Rangers 6-5. Earlier tonight, I tuned into the radio as the Rangers tied up the game at 5-5. The Astros ended up winning in ANOTHER extra inning game with a 6-5 victory in 10 innings. No Walk-Off magic this time for Texas. I didn't follow this game; I was mostly listening to the Pelicans at Rockets basketball game. Rangers win one; Astros win one. What happens when it's 1-1 in a three-game series? Right- RUBBER GAME! We'll see what happens tomorrow in this battle for Lone Star State pride. Or as we call it down here, the Battle for the Silver Boot. Nothing like a good old Houston-Dallas rivalry.

Congratulations to all other winners from today's games and tonight's games- including the Yankees beating the Boston Red Sox 7-4 in the Bronx.

Reds can't win. Lost 2-1 yesterday to the Rays and 1-0 today. Our pitching has been great, as expected. Even having so many of our pitchers on the DL, we've kept every single game pretty close. I don't think we've lost by more than 3 runs in any game. And in our whopping 3 wins on the season, we have won by 1, 1, and 3 runs I believe. That's the only problem. We just can't generate any offense. And if we do get guys in scoring position (especially annoying with leadoff doubles, runners on 3rd with 1 out, etc...), we simply can't drive them in. Completely inept right now.

Edit: Correction. We beat the Cards 4-0 in one game, but we haven't lost by more than 3 runs in any game. Every game, with the exception of the 4-0 game, has been decided by 3 or fewer runs.

I have a feeling the game will not start at 2 today. The entire DFW metroplex is covered in rain on the radar.

Baseball to Bat: Reds offense found. I repeat, offense has been found.

Winning 7-2 in the third inning now, after 2 runs lost to poor baserunning. Watching the game on MLB Network right now.

...and the Rubber Game of HOU at TEX goes to... Texas. Both teams with five hits and no errors, but it was Texas who needed only one run to win. 1-0 was the winning score for TEX. One of these days or one of these seasons, Houston will finally figure out the Texas Rangers and beat them in a series. Perez won for TEX with a Save from Ogando, and Oberholtzer falls to 0-3 as the losing HOU pitcher.

Congratulations to every other winning team from today's games.

Typical type of series for the Reds. Score 1 run in the first game and lose by 1. Get shut out in the second game and lose by 1. Then go absolutely bat:censored: crazy in game 3 and hit everything in sight when the game isn't even close. If we just spread those damn runs out throughout the series, maybe we could have picked up a couple of wins. Instead we just got the 1 win in the series in a meaningless blowout. I know I should be happy we won, but it's so frustrating to see that.

I was quite satisfied with the way Perez was yesterday. 8 innings of shutout ball. He definitely has a bright future ahead of him. He had a few minor problems with his command at points throughout the game, but he was able to overcome it each time. His changeup and two-seam fastball are pretty good weapons.

Tonight, Colby Lewis will be taking the mound for the first time since 2012. And Wednesday, it will be a heck of a matchup on the mound...Yu Darvish and Felix Hernandez.

EDIT-And Lewis is done after 5.1 IP. 3 runs, a runner left, and a sputtering Rangers offense.

No Astros baseball today. So this gives me a chance to see various other games. The only game I want to make note of is PIT at CIN. Before a Rain Delay in the 6th Inning, there were about nine or ten home runs batted out of Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. As of this post, it's 7-7 and still in a Rain Delay in the 6th Inning. You'd expect hitters go yard in Denver, but it is a Home Run Derby in Cincy tonight! Mother Nature is spoiling the game right now.

Again... my Astros had the day off. The Astros' next three series are as follows:

APR 15-17: Kansas City (3 games)
APR 18-20: at Oakland (3 games)
APR 21-23: at Seattle (3 games)

Congratulations to all winners from tonight's games.

Rangers lose 7-1. Our bullpen might just be the weak point. But, I do have confidence in Neal Cotts, Alexi Ogando, and Joakim Soria, as these guys were there last year. I don't think Tanner Scheppers is ready for a starting job, but once Matt Harrison comes back he will probably go to the bullpen. On the other hand, Robbie Ross seems to be doing a great job...just needs to work on his command a bit. He will be a good placeholder until Derek Holland comes back, around the All-Star break.

Elsewhere, the Reds and Pirates combined for 10 homers. They had to suspend the game due to rain, teams tied at 7.

Rumor spreading Matt Moore, Rays SP, is having Tommy John next week. What is that now, the 25th pitcher so far this year?

Great American Launching Pad. I think the park is second only to Coors Field in home runs given up since the two have been around together. The weather conditions certainly played a role in that tonight. Despite that, this was still (mostly, until they were taken out) against two pretty good pitchers (one of them's only had a no-hitter in back to back years...). We'll see how the remainder of the game turns out tomorrow. Nine homers in one game is was the park record, but they've already surpassed that. Supposed to be quite a bit colder when they resume tomorrow, but it wouldn't surprise me if they bettered the record with a home run or two more before the end. Just hope it turns out well for the Reds. I'm already tired of taking only 1 of 3 games every series this season.

Rangers currently up 2-0 on the Mariners through 6. Robbie Ross is absolutely cruising. Prince Fielder finally hit his first bomb of the year. Kevin Kouzmanoff, who had a hot spring, went yard right after Fielder.

Well the Reds resumed play against the Pirates today and allowed one more run, losing yet another game by 1. The night game is going much better though. Leake looked pretty good. 6 2/3 innings, 3 runs allowed, 8 K's and only one walk. And he went 2 for 3 with a double and a two run shot. Up 7-3 in the 8th. We should win this one. Should...

Not sure where all this hitting came from either. Though when it mattered when they picked up where they left off from yesterday's game, they couldn't do squat with runners in scoring position and at least tie the game up.

Edit: And of this writing, it is now 7-5, as Parra just gave up a two run homer. :banghead: Got a double play earlier in the inning, but it was reversed. So when the next guy flew out, there were still only 2 outs instead of 3. This is going to be a close game anyway.

Edit 2: Holy crap! Billy Hamilton just got a hit. He should be on 2nd within a minute or two.

Edit 3: Nevermind. Caught stealing. :ouch: Was not expecting that.

Edit 4: Held on for the win, 7-5. Now all we have to do is lose tomorrow to keep the streak alive of winning 1 game every series.
