Meanwhile, Texas gets their first win of the season in walk-off fashion. Texas pitching was much better than yesterday, only allowing 2 runs for the Phillies. With Shin-Soo Choo on second in the bottom of the 9th, Adrian Beltre hit a single to right-center to win it.
I miss Choo. :( Maybe the Reds could have at least pulled out a run if Choo was still around. Billy Hamilton went 0-4 with 4 strikeouts in his place.

This is NOT an April Fool's joke. This is NOT a typo. What's good? Well...

...the 2014 Astros are now 2-0 on the 2014 season! Tonight's win was a 3-1 victory against the New York Yankees here in Houston. Jared Cosart picked up the win along with a Save from Josh Fields. Hiroki Kuroda took the loss for the Yanks.

A cold front must be going through Hell because I can't believe I'm saying this: the Rockets are the best thing going right now in Houston sports, but the 2014 Astros have won more games so far than this current losing streak the Rockets are currently on (including a loss tonight at the Toronto Raptors). I just hope the Astros can keep winning and return to a level of relevance. Undefeated Astros (so far, anyways). Who knew?

I like anyone who beats the Yankees. :D

The Rangers win their first series of the year against the Phillies. And it was another walk-off. With the game tied at 3 in the bottom of the 9th, Jonathan Papelbon issued a bases loaded walk to Shin-Soo Choo.

I have very high hopes for the Rangers this year, with the addition of Choo and Fielder. And once the rotation gets back in order, well...I hope they go on a tear.

Choooo!!! :D

This just in: the Reds game, which I had assumed was going to be rained out tonight, was actually played. Another 1-0 game, only this time it was a bases loaded walkoff single by Heisey to win it for the Reds. :dopey: Pitching has been the story for both teams this series. There's supposed to be something like a 100% chance of rain tomorrow, so I have no idea if they'll get that one in. I would love to see the Reds win the 1st series against the Cards.

I was suddenly able to go to the Astros game tonight, well now last night...cannot believe we are 2-0. The last Houston team to start 2-0 lost the rest of their games though
Was cool to see Jeter. I had good seats but my phone doesn't zoom good...

I'm also going Saturday to see Berkman and Oswalt 👍

Here's a video of the pregame honors towards Jeter.

The Houston Astros haven't swept a team in the opening series of a season since 2001, when they swept Milwaukee. That record still stands as we failed tonight to the New York Yankees 4-2. Houston did lead 1-0 early on until the Yankees put up a couple of runs later in the game. Yankees haters, I'm sorry my boys couldn't sweep the Yanks. The Astros have taken 2 out of 3 and are now 2-1 on the 2014 season.

Up next... my Astros will host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for a four-game series. Yep- Patrick will have some Astros problems while my Astros will have some Angels problems.

Elsewhere...

* The Rangers will get back Yu Darvish on Sunday to take on Tampa Bay in Tampa Bay (edited).

* St. Louis won at Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds by a football score of 7-6 in Cincinnati. The winning pitcher for STL was Lance Lynn along with a Save from Trevor Rosenthal. Homer Bailey took the loss for CIN.

* The Steel City saw the Chicago Cubs come away with a 3-2 victory in Pittsburgh. The Cubbies' winning pitcher was Jason Hammel, and Pedro Strop picked up a Save. Losing for the black and yellow was former Astros' pitcher Wandy Rodriguez.

* 8-5 was the score in Miami as Omnis' Miami Marlins brought the Colorado Rockies down to earth. The boys from Mile High were taken down nicely by A.J. Ramos and a Save from Steve Cishek. Matt Belisle was the COL loser.

* Not a good day for Blitz24's Mets, as the boys from Flushing got roughed up 8-2 by the visiting Washington Nationals. Zack Wheeler was the loser for NYM while Tanner Roark won for WAS. I saw a little bit of this game on MLB Network.

* 10-9 was what Minnesota beat the Chicago White Sox by in the south side of Chicago. Caleb Thilbar was the MIN winner along with a Glen Perkins Save. CHW saw Matt Lindstrom take the loss.

* The early woes continue for R1600Turbo as the Giants tamed the Arizona Diamondbacks at lovely Chase Field in Phoenix. Jean Machi was the SF winner in their 8-5 victory, and Will Harris took the loss for ARI.

* In Baltimore, it was Boston who came out on top 4-3 over the Baltimore Orioles. This season marks the 60th Anniversary of the Baltimore Orioles. Boston won with Felix Doubront and a Koji Uehara Save. Meanwhile, the loser for BAL was Taiwan's Wei-Yin Chen.

* Rays fans at "The Trop" in Tampa Bay was proud to see their home team win 7-2 over the Toronto Blue Jays. The extremely boring Tropicana Field saw their exciting Rays win convincingly. Chris Archer was the TB winner, and Brandon Morrow lost for TOR.

* Kansas City at Detroit was postponed due to weather.

And at the time of this initial post, Seattle is at Oakland, and the Mariners lead 2-1 in the Top of the 6th. There was a delay (I'm assuming for rain).

That's all. Enjoy the first of the upcoming weekend series for the 2014 season.

I can't believe that four games into the season that Seattle is leading the AL West by a half a game from the Astros and the Rangers. I personally believe that the AL West is pretty stacked at this point in the season thanks to some fierce competition. Personally, I think that an AL West team will take the pennant this year.

EDIT: Full standings after tomorrow's games.

11-1 was the hit the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim put on my Astros tonight here in Houston. At the times I chimed in to check out the score, LAA was leading 5-0. The Angels probably took down my boys this hard after the struggles they faced taking down Houston often times, including that four-game sweep last season by HOU. Game 2 of 4 is Saturday night. I hear Biggio and Bagwell will sign one-day contracts to retire as Astros. I just hope today's Astros can keep their focus and not let these back-to-back losses put them in another "here we go again..." mentality regarding losing.

The Reds dropped the first one to the Mets, who picked up their first win of the season. Interestingly enough, all 4 of the games the Reds have played this season have been decided by 1 run. We've only won 1 of those. :grumpy:

Going to the Astros game tonight; They're signing Berkman and Oswalt to one-day contracts so they can retire as an Astro. I'm expecting parking to be twice as much as normal. Game starts at 6:10, ceremony is at 5:30, i'll be there by 4... Tyler Skaggs for the Angels, I was expecting him to be pretty good but hasn't done so great in his time in the MLB.

I thought for a moment that the Reds were going to have another 1 run ball game (and this one would have actually been a win). The Reds were up 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th when Hoover came in for the save (as Marshall, Broxton, and Chapman are all on the DL, along with a crap ton of other Reds). But 2 walks, a reviewed force play (an out at 2nd) after a bunt reversed, and a home run by Ike Davis with the bases juiced led to a 6-3 loss instead. And Cueto gets robbed again after another great pitching performance. Yay. I don't even know which emoticon to use after that mess...

Now 1-4 on the season with 2 series losses.

On the flip side, Mets win 2 straight games by employing the use of the long ball. Friday night saw Lucas Duda smack 2 HRs the day he was named their starting 1B. The next day, Grandy gets a 2 run dinger as his first as a Met and then Ike smashes a grand of his own to win it. 4 HRs in 2 games and looking for the unexpected sweep tomorrow with Niese on the mound. It's possible.

After getting slaughtered 8-1 last night, Texas jumped out to an early 4-1 lead...only to have Tampa come back and score the winning run in the 8th. Giving an intentional walk to Evan Longoria backfired.

It was 5-1 in favor of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim tonight. Astros are now 2-3 on the season. We're now playing either for a series split, an LAA series loss, or an LAA sweep. Dallas K. was the starting pitcher for HOU in this game, and he was the loser for HOU.

Coolest moment hands down was the retirement for Lance Berkman and Roy Oswalt. Those were two big names for the Astros. Their service was truly commendable. Not to get on Dolph Drago's bad side, but I remember just how beast he was pitching against the Reds.

* Congratulations to the MIN coach on picking up his 1,000th win as a manager. His Twins clobbered Nicksflix's Indians 7-3 earlier today. It was a sunny and beautiful day in Cleveland... but not so much for Cleveland's baseball team on this day.

* Prosthetic's San Francisco Giants cooked Villain's Los Angeles Dodgers well done to the tune of a 7-2 victory in Los Angeles. SF and LAD will get some national face time tomorrow night on ESPN.

* Omnis's Miami Marlins won 9-4 hosting the Padres.

* It wasn't enough for Texas to bounce back in Tampa Bay, as the Rays won 5-4 over KM964's Texas Rangers.

* BobK's Phillies blanked the Chicago Cubs 2-0 in Chi-town.

* It was Joey D's Detroit Tigers who came out on top today 7-6 hosting Baltimore. Former Astro Bud Norris was the loser for BAL.

* The Yankees lost ugly in beautiful Toronto- a 4-0 blanking of the Yanks.

I didn't cover all of the games. But of course, congratulations to all winners, including the eventual MIL at BOS winner. This game is currently in the Middle of the 11th with Milwaukee leading 7-6 in Boston.

Coolest moment hands down was the retirement for Lance Berkman and Roy Oswalt. Those were two big names for the Astros. Their service was truly commendable. Not to get on Dolph Drago's bad side, but I remember just how beast he was pitching against the Reds.
Couldn't agree more. Berkman was an absolute Reds killer and Oswalt would just roll through our lineup every time he took the mound. However, I was lucky enough to attend the first loss we ever handed Oswalt. Can't recall that date, but I was there. It was a glorious day to finally beat him. He had won plenty of games against us and had a couple of no decisions, but no losses until that fateful day.

The Astros won 7-4 today here in Houston against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. We lit up Jered Weaver with a number of Astros home runs. Five different Astros hit jacks from LAA pitching. A late Angels' rally was too late. So in the end, HOU will take the 7-4 victory. Tomorrow afternoon will be either an LAA series win or a series split before the Astros play their first away series, when we'll be in Toronto Blue Jays for three followed by at the Texas Rangers for three.

Our record is now 3-3 on the season so far. By the way, Scott Feldman took the win for Houston. Jered Weaver was the LAA losing pitcher.

Texas is now back on a winning note. They shut out Tampa 3-0. Yu Darvish also became the fastest pitcher to reach 500 K's, doing it in 401.2 innings.

Onwards to Boston.

I wish that were true. E
I like anyone who beats the Yankees. :D

No. Just no.

Congrats to Jeter for passing Molitor for 8th on the all-time hits list.

Another 1 run game for the Reds today, beating the Mets 2-1. If not for the Hoover blown save yesterday, we would have started out the season with 6 straight one run decision games (and counting). That is just nuts. Anybody know the record for consecutive games decided by 1 run for a single team?

Angels annihilated Astros. 9-1 victory for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as they took the series 3 out of 4. Up next for the Astros is their first road trip of the season starting tomorrow. It's a three-game set at the Toronto Blue Jays followed by a three-game set at the Texas Rangers.

Congrats to the other winners on today's games and tonight's games.

The Astros must be doing their best 2013 Texans impersonation- win the first two games of the season... and lose every future game. So far, the once *unbeaten* Astros won their first two games and have lost every other game since (2-160 record for 2014?). Our latest fail was a 5-2 defeat in Toronto. That's four straight losses for the Astros now after a 2-0 start to the season. The past few years seems like the Astros somehow manage to find ways to get progressively worse than show improvement. While having prospects and stuff is great, it doesn't mean s:censored: if the current roster of Astros keep f:censored:ing up and lose games. It's still early, but the same old song and dance is being played for the Astros.

Elsewhere, I saw bits and pieces of the Baltimore Orioles put a serious 14-5(?) beat down of the New York Yankees in the Bronx. I did see Alfonso Soriano jack one into deep left field to where the classic "See ya!" call was made by the YES Network crew.

Congratulations to all other winners from Tuesday's games.
