The Pirates/Giants game was the polar opposite of the A's Royals game. Absolutely a bore to watch halfway through the game.

Bye bye, Oakland. Bye bye (with authority), Pittsburgh. Ten teams now whittled down to eight. Let the Divisional Series begin!

Good luck to all remaining teams moving forward.

Dammit I hate the Cardinals...

I was happy to see the Dodgers had put up a 6 spot on Wainwright. Then Kershaw, who's having one of the greatest pitching seasons of recent years, just had to implode. I don't even like the Dodgers (not a fan of teams who can buy championships), but I was really hoping they would knock off those dirty, stinking, Cards. :grumpy:

Kershaw will still be an MVP candidate regardless. As for the Tigers, the "fan" pages are loaded with comments on how the bullpen sucks and that Ausmus is a terrible manager. If he sucked as badly as people claim he does, he would have had a losing record with a roster that clearly shouldn't be under .500. And he got 90 wins this year with a junk pen that Dombrowski doesn't want to remedy for some reason. Chamberlain was a brilliant pickup (as was Soria), but people have been booing Phil Coke for several games now, and Joe Nathan has had some rocky closing appearances as well.

And it's kind of funny to me when people say that the AL Central is the weakest division in baseball when 3 of the 5 teams were over .500. Shouldn't that "honor" go to the NL East since only one team (The Nats) was over .500 this year?

Great year after he imploded here in AZ when we lit him up in the second inning and chased him off the field.

Two games later and SF wins game 2. 2-1 following a Brandon Belt HR in the 18th.

I read that the Baltimore Orioles just knocked out the Detroit Tigers from the playoffs with a 2-1 victory earlier today. So Detroit has been 86ed from the 2014 Playoffs. Congratulations to the Tigers on a great season. Special congratulations to former Astro Brad Ausmus for his contributions in helping the team. By the way... this was a series sweep BAL put on DET.

At least they made the playoffs. Now, at the least, it gives Dombrowski a chance to actually look for some good free agents to bolster the terrible bullpen.

Tigers have a weird ability to get themselves swept.

This series will be a ratings nightmare.

I think it will end up being Kansas City and St. Louis

I would be ok with that. Kind of rooting for Kansas City at this point.

I am as well. It's nice to have a Cinderella story instead of payroll juggernauts. (Yes, a Yankee fan just said that.)

I'm actually rooting for the AL this year. The Giants have had their championships lately, as have the Cards, who I've mentioned several times I despise. :irked: The Royals or O's would be a pleasant surprise.

I'd love this. It would be similar to a Yankees/Mets or Dodgers/Angels series but on a smaller scale.
Maybe a better example is Oakland/Giants...

You know, until you said that, I hadn't even thought of that.

1985 all over again? I'm rooting for the Birds(again, because Braves sucks again), but Giants can turn it up this time of the year, too. Should be a great series, no matter the outcome.
