Still trying to figure out why ESPN enjoys torturing Met fans. Mets + Sunday + home game = automatic loss.

America's team- the Houston Astros. Canada's team- the Toronto Blue Jays. We settle matters in H-Town. Series summary:

GM1 TOR at HOU: 16-7; Houston
GM2 TOR at HOU: 4-3, 12 innings; Toronto
GM3 TOR at HOU: 7-6; Houston

We are now 71-40 on the season. Houston was down 6-3 to Toronto in Gm. 3 but put out four runs in the 9th inning to take the win in walk-off style.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... we're off on Monday before embarking on a road trip. Three cities, eight games. The first is at the Chicago White Sox for three. Then, it's at the Texas Rangers for three more games. And after that, a quick two-game set of Interleague play at the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Congratulations to all winners of games today and series winners.

Only this could happen to the Braves, SS/3B Johan Camargo suffered an apparent knee injury tonight while running onto the field at the start of tonights game with the Phillies.

It turns out Dallas Keuchel was right, the Astros didnt do enough at the deadline to help the team.

Since he ran his mouth to the media on Aug 1st.:boggled:
Keuchel 0-2 11.00 era 9 IP, 17 hits, 11 er 5bb 4k

The NL is going to win the World Series this year. There is no team that comes close to the talent the Dodgers have, especially since Houston is faultering.

In terms of Wild Cards, in the AL it's gonna be Seattle and the Yanks, but I think the M's are the much better team.

I don't think the Astros are going to win it all anyways this season. I'd love for the Astros to win their first-ever World Series in franchise history (not to mention WIN a WS game, unlike the 2005 Houston Astros), but this team right now doesn't look like the world-beaters that had a beast start to the season. There is still a lot of season left.

The first of this road trip for the Houston Astros took them to the team that defeated the 2005 Houston Astros in the 2005 World Series- the Chicago White Sox. How did it go?

GM1 HOU at CHW: 8-5; Chicago White Sox
GM2 HOU at CHW: 7-1; Chicago White Sox
GM3 HOU at CHW: 3-2, 10 innings; Chicago White Sox

So we're are stuck on 71 wins and oh... got swept by the team with the worst record in the American League. Flipping yay. Now 71-43 while the rest of the baseball world are awe-struck over the Los Angeles Dodgers (and perhaps rightfully so). Won't get much better playing at the Texas Rangers the way the Astros may be freefalling and may have had Midnight strike on them.

Congratulations to all series winners as well as winners from Thursday's games. Enjoy the weekend series.

The Cardinals are looking up as well #rallycat with a Yadi Grand Slam and then yesterday another Grand slam from a not so consistent Fowler to sweep the Royals and put us on a 6 Game Winning Streak as well as pulling within 1 game of the cubs.

After the grounds crew turned it loose outside the stadium, and a fan subsequently rescued then lost it, the cat has been recaptured.

The tigers just had one of the craziest comebacks I've seen this year.

Also, Chris Rowley just became the first graduate from West Point to pitch in the MLB. He went 5 and a third for the Blue Jays today in his MLB debut.

Thank umpire Chad Fairchild for that.
Yeah, the players were not happy with him last night. There were quite a few questionable ball/strike calls. But the kicker was not one, but two Reds' players striking out due to pitches up and in. Both players felt the ball hit their hands, but Mr. Umpire said the pitches actually hit their bats. Both plays were reviewed and upheld because there simply wasn't enough evidence to get them overturned. Mesoraco was so fed up about all that, he ended up getting tossed for chirping at the umps from the dugout. He did give them a thumbs up, clap and "great job!" before he went to the shower.

Oh, and they didn't allow a review for that final play, even though it was THE ENDING play. After seeing the replay, the runner was clearly safe, but they should have been allowed to review it since it, you know, ENDED the game. :grumpy:

Lone Star State pride on the line when the Astros and Rangers hook up. Summary...

GM1 HOU at TEX: 6-4; Texas
GM2 HOU at TEX: 8-3; Texas
GM3 HOU at TEX: 2-1; Houston

We managed to avoid getting swept in two straight series. The win on Sunday was the one that broke up the five-game losing skid. We remembered how to win games now. The Astros did lead 1-0 for a good amount of the game. You are great to lead the game at 1-0. However, you are never comfortable up 1-0 and especially 1-0 on the road. So I'm glad the Astros remembered what winning feels like and how to get there. Oh, and Dallas Keuchel was the pitcher in the Sunday game. So he bounced back after getting shelled at the Chicago White Sox in his last start.

Next for the Astros- a home-and-home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks in Interleague play. We play two in Phoenix starting Monday night followed by two in Houston on Wednesday.

Congratulations to all winners from today's games as well as all series winners.

4 days after throwing a wild pitch to lose a game, the Reds do it AGAIN tonight against the Cubs...I don't even...

On a side note, Votto had a chance to tie Ted Williams by getting on base twice for 21 straight games. He got a hit in his first at bat, then hit one to the wall in his second at bat, narrowly missing a home run to extend it. He didn't get on again the rest of the 9 inning affair, but had a chance being the first batter up in the 10th if the Reds could get into extras. Of course, the wild pitch (with 2 outs mind you) never allowed that to happen. Still, he joined some fine company with Bonds and Rose with his 20 games straight of getting on twice.

The fact that the AL sucks so bad that we're only 4 and a half or so games from the second wild card is hilariously sad.

I hope they don't make it though. I don't want management or Rogers to get the idea that we're going to be a competitive team, instead apart of the mass of absolutely dog**** teams that make up all of the AL bar Boston, Cleveland, and Houston. (And even then, that last one is suspect at best)

The Houston Astros had themselves an Interleague series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. If the Astros were still in the National League, this would have been NL Central vs. NL West. But, the 'Stros are in the American League now. Here's the summary of this four-game home-and-home series:

GM1 HOU at ARI: 2-0; Arizona
GM2 HOU at ARI: 9-4; Houston
GM3 ARI at HOU: 9-5; Houston
GM4 ARI at HOU: 4-0; Arizona

I was not sure whether to do this post with two in Phoenix followed by two in Houston, or as one whole series. I chose the latter obviously. So it's a series split as both teams pick up one win and one loss in the respective cities. The Houston Astros are now 74-47 on the season.

Next for the Houston Astros... back to American League West action as we host the Oakland Athletics for a three-game weekend series here in Houston.

Congratulations to all other series winners as well as today's winners, including the Cincinnati Reds on the winning end of an offensive firestorm at the Chicago Cubs today.

Tigers lost to the Dodgers. That is not a shock at all.

Aaron Judge just set the MLB record today for the most consecutive games with a strikeout in a season with with today being his 36th straight game hat had a K in the results.

The Houston Astros hosted the Oakland Athletics. Series summary:

GM1 OAK at HOU: 3-1; Houston
GM2 OAK at HOU: 3-0; Houston
GM3 OAK at HOU: 3-2; Oakland

So the boys in green and gold managed to avoid getting swept by my Astros. You're better winning Division matches than failing against most everybody else. We take two out of three in this series. 76-48 is now our record after this series.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... we'll be watching the Eclipse deal on tomorrow (meaning no baseball for us tomorrow). Afterwards, we welcome the Washington Nationals for Interleague play. WAS is 74-48 as of the time of this post.

Congratulations to all series winners and game winners.

EDIT: Incident below started after Michael Fulmer hit Gary Sanchez.

In the Tigers/Yankees game today, Tommy Kahnle threw a pitch at Miguel Cabrera and got ejected. Girardi got ejected shortly thereafer. Then Miggy got into an argument with Austin Romine and this happened:

So far, it's Khanle, Girardi, Cabrera, and Romine that have been tossed.

Now Dellin Betances has been ejected after plunking James McCann. 5 ejections so far and will update if any more get thrown out. Rob Thompson also ejected. 6 ejections.

Alex Wilson just hit Todd Frazier and is now ejected. Brad Ausmus now ejected as well. 8 ejections.

Game finally over. 10-6 Tigers victory.

I'm not sure if Fulmer did it intentionally, but it sure looked like it. So he is at fault there. Miggy started the fight with Romine, so he's at fault there. But Sanchez was a little punk who thought he should get some cheap shots in during the brawl. Also Betances is a cry baby, if you're going to bean someone with a 98mph fastball don't complain when you get tossed. I'm not sure if Wilson was at fault or not, but he probably was.

I still hate the Yankees, although I can admit when the Tigers did something stupid.

I saw that insanity in Detroit earlier today. I didn't see the fight as it happened, but I did note various highlights and views of it. As for my Houston Astros, meanwhile...

GM1 WAS at HOU: 4-3; Washington
GM2 WAS at HOU: 6-1; Houston
GM3 WAS at HOU: 5-4, 11 innings; Washington

Worse for the Astros was that José Altuve had to leave the game tonight with some neck issues. Washington is NOT a sorry team. So if this was the World Series, the Astros would have some work to do to improve things.

Up next... maybe it's good the Houston Astros will be away as Hurricane Harvey hopefully won't be too bad around the Houston-Galveston area. The Houston Astros of Houston will meet the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in a weekend series. Time to take our tour of awesome on the road.

Congratulations to all series winners and today's/tonight's game winners.

http://deadspin.com/my-five-favorite-moments-from-the-yankees-tigers-brawl-1798421739 After seeing this I am betting Sanchez will have a mysterious illness the next time the Yanks play Detroit and Verlander is pitching. Sadly that wont happen until 2018. I'm curious to see if Torre and MLB turn a blind eye to Sanchez and his cheap shots.

And the Pirates suck.:(

They won't. Considering he sucker punched a man, that deserves a ten game suspension right there, anything less and the MLB are piss poor disciplinarians.

Jeff Passan once again gets right to the issue:

Ya Cabrera and Romine should probably get a 3 game suspension, Khanle and Fulmer both probably deserves 3, Sanchez should get 10, Betances should probably get 15+ for throwing a 98 mph fast ball at a guy's head (if it was the hip then I'd say 3), and Wilson should also get 3 games.

The MLB needs to step up their game on punishing pitchers who purposely plunk guys.

The umps should have had better control of that game, Fulmer should have been warned as soon as he threw at Sanchez.

I was scrolling through the comments of an article and somebody in the comments section of the article @Silver Arrows posted said that the brawl will wind up being a better fight than Mayweather/McGregor.

Checks standings- Yankees are 4.5 of 1st place Boston and have a 3.5 game lead in WC- Sanchez and Betances will get 5 games and it will be reduced to 3 on appeal, Miggy will get more since the Detroit is out of it.

Call me cynical but MLB needs the Yankees in the postseason way more than it needs the Twins or Mariners.

And? It's likely that the Yankees will get bounced in the ALDS if they get past the wild card game, because there's no good teams that can get past Cleveland or Boston. And I'm not exactly sold on Houston either after their hot start.
