THIS JUST IN...

Carlos Correa of my Houston Astros is out for 6-8 weeks with a torn ligament in his thumb. That's going to put a big hit on the Astros' offense. This injury was suffered in last night's 9-7, extra innings loss to Seattle here in Houston last night.

Hope your team(s) is/are doing well. Good luck to your favorite team(s).

J.D. Martinez was with the Detroit Tigers. Now, he's with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona gives up Dawel Lugo, Sergio Alcantara, and José King. I guess since Detroit probably feels they aren't going anywhere this season, they'll ship off some of their players. Or at least... this may be start of a fire sale to some Tigers fans. This is a big domino that fell for Detroit.

Best of luck to J.D. Martinez with the Snakes.

Martinez probably wasn't going to resign with the Tigers anyway, or if he was planning on it he would have commanded a massive salary. I wish we would have got a little more for him, but a handful of decent prospects will do nicely. Alex Avalia will probably end up with the Cubs too and we will be able to get one or two more prospects.

The Tigers will be lean for a few years but I think they'll bounce back within 3-4 years.

It looks like the Yankees will acquire RP Tommy Kahnle, RP David Robertson and 1B/3B Todd Frazier from the White Sox for OF Blake Rutherford, RP Tyler Clippard and SP Ian Clarkin. (Rutherford and Clarkin are prospects).

The Reds got crushed yet again today, this time by the D'backs in game 1 of the series. I predict Martinez will come in with his new team tomorrow and promptly go 4-4 with a couple dingers.

I heard that they offered him a 4 year $80 million deal and he turned it down. I also heard he was the 4th best hitting outfielder in all of the majors, and of the three better, two of them were Trout and Harper, respectively.

Well the Reds managed to finally win a game, though it took 11 innings. In the process, Adleman hit Martinez on the hand with a pitch in his 2nd at bat in his debut with his new team. That would suck to trade for a guy and immediately see him get injured. But x-rays were negative, and he's day-to-day, so that's a good sign.

Latest series for the Houston Astros Baseball Club was at home against the Seattle Mariners. Here's how it went:

GM1 SEA at HOU: 9-7, 10 innings; Seattle
GM2 SEA at HOU: 6-2; Houston
GM3 SEA at HOU: 5-3; Seattle

Mariners make the trip from the state of Washington down here to Texas. And... we lost.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... After taking Thursday off, we're off to take on a three-city road trip, starting in Baltimore. Yep- 'Stros and O's in Baltimore. Then a three-game series at Philadelphia. And after that, a three-game series at Detroit. But first things first- Astros at Orioles starting this Friday.

Congratulations to all series winners and game winners from the past few days, including last-place NL West San Francisco taming the Cleveland Indians in San Francisco.

After reaching a season worst 9 games under .500 and 7 GB on July 3rd the Buccos have risen from the dead and have won 12 of 14 and are now only 2 GB. 2 of 3 vs the Cubs and Cardinals including 2 walkoff wins in the STL series and a sweep of division leading Milwaukee in a 4 game series in which they came from behind in every game.

What looked like a year to sell and reload has now turned into a real shot at winning a mediocre division. A 3rd baseman with power would be a nice thing to have and they need another starter because the back end of the rotation is weak.

The only saving grace of the Tigers sucking ass is the fact that the AL Central is a division of mediocrity at this point.

You think Andrew McCutchen's going to get traded, IforceV8?
By the deadline next week, no. In the offseason it is a strong possibility. The team has a $14.75m 1Y option that they need to pickup in the offseason and then he becomes a free agent in 2018. I suspect there is a 5yr/$100-120 M contract in his future in some other city. The Bucs are not in a position to take on that kind of contract with a guy will be 32 when that deal is signed.

The first city in our three-city road trip was in Baltimore. This is how it ended up for my Houston Astros...

GM1 HOU at BAL: 8-7; Houston
GM2 HOU at BAL: 8-4; Houston
GM3 HOU at BAL: 9-7; Baltimore

We are now 65-33 on the 2017 season. Tonight begins a three-game set of Interleague play. Or I usually call it a National League reunion for the Astros. We are at the 34-62 Philadelphia Phillies. If Houston were still in the National League, it would be NL Central at NL East. But... it's AL West at NL East. We don't have the best record in baseball; that honor goes to the Los Angeles Dodgers at 68-31. And if this season's World Series is Astros vs. Dodgers, I am hellishly concerned at the Astros matching up against the Dodgers. LAD has been balling, especially recently. Anyhow, first things first- try your best to take down the Philadelphia Phillies.

Elsewhere, there is a pretty cool story I saw on Yahoo! Sports as I was pulling up these numbers. Apparently, one pitcher in the Minor Leagues for the Washington Nationals threw back-to-back no hitters in a doubleheader. That is impressive in ANY level of baseball. Let's not downplay it too much just because this is in the minors. If you want to read that story, check this out: https://sports.yahoo.com/nationals-affiliate-throws-back-back-no-hitters-doubleheader-223700851.html .

I hope you all have a great day. Enjoy the new series. Good luck to all of your favorite teams.

Yeah, AnthonyD1993, that's going to be a haymaker to the jaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers. I still think the Dodgers are going to be fine, but they won't have that pitching power from Kershaw, at least for the time he'll be on the shelf.

Interleague concluded for the Houston Astros at the Philadelphia Phillies. Series summary:

GM1 HOU at PHI: 13-4; Houston
GM2 HOU at PHI: 5-0; Houston
GM3 HOU at PHI: 9-0; Philadelphia

So my Astros got pimp slapped tonight by Philadelphia after we've done the same to the fightin' Phils the first two games of this series. Nothing lasts forever. I think I read the Astros are the first team this season (or ever?) to start Interleague play at 9-0 before tonight. But this series is over.

Up next... hey Detroit Tigers, let's play ball! Houston Astros. Detroit Tigers. Comerica Park in MoTown. Three-game set starting this Friday after our day off this Thursday.

Elsewhere, and speaking of Detroit... our loss was bad, but it was NOTHING compared to the 16-2 beating Detroit took hosting the Kansas City Royals. 16 runs, 22 hits, and one error for the heating up Kansas City Royals.

Congratulations to all winners of the most recent series and games played today/tonight.

I think the Reds have won only 2 games since the All Star Break. Pitching has been about the same, but the offense has fallen off. Not a good combo.

So the Tigers had to do well against the Royals to show that they could contend for the AL Central and proceed to both get swept and blown the hell out in the last game to boot.

Bucs have lost 4 of 6 games on their roadtrip, 4.5gb now. They went 1-5 vs the last place SF Giants and are 1-6 so far vs last place Cinn.

Cubs are 10-2 since the All-Star break and lead the NL Central now.

Remember that this Sunday is the 2017 Baseball Hall of Fame and that Monday is the Trade Deadline. Lots going on this weekend. Enjoy the games!

Trade deadline deals done. Meanwhile, this is a quite look at my Houston Astros' latest series at the Detroit Tigers over the weekend...

GM1 HOU at DET: 6-5; Houston
GM2 HOU at DET: 4-2; Detroit
GM3 HOU at DET: 13-1; Detroit

We are now 68-36 after losing this series at Detroit. We start a seven-game home stand tonight by hosting the Tampa Bay Rays for four games. The Astros will then host the Toronto Blue Jays this coming weekend while also celebrating Jeff Bagwell's Hall of Fame induction.

Besides that, congratulations to Adrian Beltré on being the latest Mr. 3000. He's the 31st to 3K. Good luck to all of your favorite teams.

Time to get a bit more serious about playoff implications, now that it is August. Or for teams out of it... a chance to salvage something and prepare for future seasons. Here is a standings update. Find your favorite team(s)...

--- AMERICAN LEAGUE ---
AL EAST: New York Yankees (57-47), BOS (58-49), TB (54-53), BAL (51-54), TOR (49-57)
AL CENTRAL: Cleveland (57-47), KC (55-49), MIN (50-53), DET (47-57), CHW (41-62)
AL WEST: Houston (69-36), SEA (54-53), LAA (51-55), TEX (50-55), OAK (47-59)
CURRENT AL WILD CARD HOLDERS (top two): Boston and Kansas City

--- NATIONAL LEAGUE ---
NL EAST: Washington (63-41), MIA (49-55), NYM (48-55), ATL (48-56), PHI (39-64)
NL CENTRAL: Chicago Cubs (56-48), MIL (55-52), STL (52-53), PIT (51-54), CIN (42-63)
NL WEST: Los Angeles Dodgers (74-31), ARI (60-45), COL (60-46), SD (47-58), SF (40-67)
CURRENT NL WILD CARD HOLDERS: Arizona and Colorado

I don't think anybody has been officially eliminated from the postseason. So there is still hope for everyone to make the MLB Playoffs, even if remote hope. Keep playing hard!

Good luck to all of your favorite team(s).

[UPDATE] Forgot Toronto. Changes made.

Four game set in Houston with the Tampa Bay Rays. Here's a series summary:

GM1 TB at HOU: 14-7; Houston
GM2 TB at HOU: 6-4; Tampa Bay
GM3 TB at HOU: 3-0; Tampa Bay
GM4 TB at HOU: 5-3; Tampa Bay

The Rays come to H-Town and take 3 out of 4. Win No. 70 for the Astros will have to wait. Maybe it will come when next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... we're hosting the Toronto Blue Jays for a three-game weekend series. So we go from one AL East team to another. Yay. Even cooler (note my sarcasm), we haven't won a game yet this month. You certainly don't want the bottom to fall out even more if you're the Astros at this point.

Congratulations to all game winners and series winners after Thursday.

J-Up literally was J-Up tonight. Upton had a grand slam (his 3rd grand slam of the season!) which resulted in the Tigers winning 5-2. This is their 4th straight win, but I'm not expecting this win streak to get much longer.

Feels good beating St. Louis, eh, Cincinnati? I knew Dolph Drago had to feel good knowing the Reds downed the Cardinals 3-2 tonight. Cheers, Cincinnati!

Meanwhile, my Houston Astros downed the Toronto Blue Jays 16-7. When I first checked in, it was about 12-3 Astros after... I want to say five innings. The win snapped their three-game losing streak. Don't want to look ahead, but one of our opponents later this month is an Interleague match here in Houston as we host the Washington Nationals.

Congratulations to all other winners from today and tonight. That even includes a brilliant performance by Yu Darvish's new team (Los Angeles Dodgers) blanking the New York Mets in Flushing.

Welcome back Sean "Serpico" Rodriguez. He arrived in Pittsburgh from Atlanta 2 hrs before today's game and hit a walk off HR in the bottom of the 12th.

Called it.

Also, the Yankees benched Gary Sanchez because of poor defense. He has 12 passed balls this season so far which is the most in the majors.
