Makeshift Shuffle - No Tuning RacesOpen

I will probably continue with Thursday and Saturday, with Tuesday being a "sometimes". Tuesday February 4th's track line-up is incredible so I would try extra hard for that one. :embarrassed:

Are we not doing luxury cars on the Saturday after this one? I do find them to be confusing at times because they can give an alert when some one is right behind you and they out of line to overtake you but they go off before the car is even next to you. They can go off as the car is still behind you.

I should be able to do saturday but not sure about the others yet,, will have to confirm later.

Hmm I've found the indicators pretty useful, together with looking to the sides all the time of course. Sometimes when you don't think anyone should be on the inside, and won't check to the sides before turning, the indicators are really useful to tell you someone is there. :)

Yes, that's in the schedule... we've just pushed it all back because of not being able to race this past Sat. That's all.

If you noticed, I've been trying to do a theme here...

First, I took suggestions for the Luxury event #3 for Thursdays & Saturdays.
I used the suggestions from regular members to make the track line-ups.

And for the next Saturday series - I'm soliciting suggestions for tracks people would like to see raced on Saturdays.
So just post with "track suggestion for saturday = x track"

Tuesdays focusing on real world locales mostly.

The next Thursday series is going to be all tracks + reverses. :scared:

I figure this is a way to work in a lot of variety, and get around to a lot of different tracks.

RE: Side indicators.

I think it was @jackargent who mentioned ... like me, liking the old way of just zooming in the map. I think it was more reliable.

With the indicators I've definitely gotten false positives - getting the red arrow flashing, but looking to the side with "look to side" view button... and nobody's there. :boggled:
I also have seen once I watch in the replays that when it was NOT flashing, there could be a car alongside.
Worse, it does NOT indicate - it's a false negative if the car is not CLOSE enough. In other words it will say there's not a car there... because the car is a little ways away - but that doesn't necessarily mean there's enough room to move lines. :nervous:

For example, I've had that happen with @daddyo845 on Matterhorn awhile back... where at the time I thought he'd dive-bombed me... but in the replay it clearly shows he had overlap before the turn.
In another instance on Sunday, it didn't flash when I found out the hard way that @GTsail290 was aside me in one of the races at GT Arena.
And then again, I didn't get it flashing when @Naptown25rs was aside me at GT Arena in the Subaru 360s, and I thought I had room to try & straighten out that wonnky Subaru 360 :ill: and I think I wound up brushing him as he was passing me as a result. :( Even in tiny cars like that - just because it's not flashing does not mean there's enough room to change lines. :nervous:

Append:
Also NEVER trust the side indicator coming off the starting grid!!!
I think I almost moved into someone on Deep Forest Reverse on Thursday coming off the start. I can't remember who it was but they were in a dark coloured car, and I saw this in the replay. I very nearly moved into their line.

The side indicators aren't very good in this game. I've been spun out by AI far too many times.

I like doing the real-world tracks, I guess I won't see them that much then. (Unless I pick them for Saturday I guess) But that's alright, I'm not that picky.

And I will think of the tracks I would like and post them for the Saturday series soon...

As for the side-indicator, well. I don't use them, distracting and from what I've just heard...inaccurate. I never had a problem with judging where people are, and if I feel its close then I uhm...cheat by using 3rd person view.

On the subject of the side-indicator, I find that the rear view mirror along with the look left/right/back cameras are more than enough to maintain awareness of cars around me in most situations. However, I find the side indicator very useful when cornering. Using those secondary cameras when trying to navigate a turn isn't a great idea, at least for me, so it's nice to be warned if someone has pulled along side me that I may not have seen so I can react accordingly.

@WiiFreak
Yeah there's really no substitute for just keeping an eye on the rear view & then using the "look" if necessary...
I find it difficult to use the "look" button though because sometimes it's disorienting.

Well that could have something also to do with the fact that GT6 AI are DIRTY.

edit fixed typo

How do you look left and right. I can't believe I don't how to do it. Actually I didn't even know you could do that until you started talking about it :dunce:.

Although we have zero snow on the ground (8:15 am) the new school superintendent from Houston has declared today a Snow Day because it is going to snow.

I am in for today, I will get the rest of the Luxury cars.

At this rate, school won't be out until August.

I am pleased to announce that I have sorted my Luxury list

I have decided to return to my "traditional" colours of raspberry red pearl/lime green metallic.

This colour scheme dates back to the days of the now legendary Sofa Racers. (puffs on his pipe!)

I don't think I've said I will but just in case, I will NOT be racing today. :P

Btw love that so many have their colours that they stick with on every car. Makes you recognise them in an instant and like ah Melon/longbow/kling is behind me, better watch out. ;)
