NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! WHAT THE F, MAN!

God damn e-bogu! They now have what I got for 186 bucks for JUST 99 DOLLARS. WTF! I need to call them and get a god damn refund. This is totally unfair.
:ouch: Sadly I don't think you've got any ground for a refund.

Talking about money, I've been told I need to buy combined shin and foot guards as the rules have changed. Before we just had shin guards. :grumpy:

But it gets worse, they are priced at £25, and the Governing body are only allowing 1 make. :ouch:

And then it gets worse...

We have to buy red and blue ones. :banghead:

They gave me two 35 dollar coupons. That's way cool. If you guys have any needs, use e-bogu. They've proven themselves to me, man.

99 bucks for COMPLETE, HIGH-QUALITY DOGI is AMAZING. Lol. I can't wait to tell the people at my dojo.

That's a classy decision by them, shows that they're really serious about creating satisfied customers. You better spread the word about them so good business behaviour is rewarded and they stay in business.

By the way, Kendo isn't really something for me. That's why I do karate, I prefer something that can be applied in real life situations, because I don't carry a sword around all day. It's cool though, especially the jedi knight outfits. ;)

Kendo is one of the more gentlemenly arts. I don't do kendo in order to defend myself or whatever. I like it because of the sport and the competition. I look at it as a way to have fun and enjoy something that you love with others who love it just the same, rather than as a preperation act for "just in case" situations.

Fights and Duels just aren't the same. Not anymore, anyway.

if your trying to prepare for fighting you should train in grappling as well as striking. Judo, brazilian jiujitsu, sambo, something of that nature. Most guys have no clue about ground fighting or submitions.

Kendo and krav maga are still pretty handy. I mean.. i dont think your ever gonna end up in a sword fight but hey maybe in a bar you might end up in fighting with Pool sticks or somethin. If someone pulls a knife on you and you know alot of krav maga, you'll have a greater chance of surviving. (I mean good krav maga and Kendo not those McDojo schools)

I hate grapplers / submission fighters. But they're damn effective at what they do.

I'm going to start crosstraining in Capoeira and Muay Thai this week.. Yea, weird combination.

if you take the best muay thai fighter in the world and put him against a b level mma fighter thats experienced in grappling and subs. Muay thai fighter will lose 99.9% of the time.

Its just a fact man. its happened many times. I dare you to go into any decent brazilian jiujitsu school near you and challenge one of the lower rank belts.

I started off with tae kwon do, muay thai/kickboxing. then i moved into wrestling and bjj when i began highschool. There's no pt in being an incomplete 1 dimensional fighter if being the best fighter you can is your goal.

I know what your getting at, but I see way to many people get into grappling than striking. I see it as a last resort to win.

I would feel much better when I KO them with a strike than making them submit.
And also the fact that watching the UFC grappler fights are boring as hell.

they're only boring if you dont understand grappling well. i thought it was boring at 1st untill i started wrestling and began to apreciate the skill required in grappling. In a 1 on 1 fight i dont really think of grappling as a last resort. If a guy shows you his back, why not choke him out instead of pounding his head in. I think of submitions and grappling as just an extra tools. I'm more of a standup fighter but i really think grappling is awsome now that i understand it.

plus if you are skilled at grappling you dont have to worry about getting taken down and you can concentrate more on your striking. you wont have to worry about getting taken down because you'll be comfortable there.

I appreciate most reputable martial arts, all of them are effective in their own ways ( No matter how many people argue that this certain MA doesn't have jack on another certain MA). Like any other physical activity, you can't draw stereotypes from it. I know of great kickboxers, crap kickboxers, great kung fu practitioners, crap ones, etc. It's just that the general public looks at the most flashy art and think that it's the best.

In wado-ryu karate there is a lot of overlap with jiu jitsu, so I'm learning submitting / control techniques as well. Right now, it isn't of high priority though, but if I get higher in rank that part gets more important.

Krav maga is very interesting though, but I think a good basis of a 'real' martial art might be necessary to be able to learn that well.

By the way, if someone pulls a knife on you running is the best option to survive. ;)

Especially since I'm not good at what I do now. :D

yeah i agree with the running :D. even the great frank shamrock ran when someone pulle a knife on him in a street fight. :D i mean if you have no choice but to fight.

I just did a buttload of Suburi with my new shinai. Wow. These things are really cool. I was doing Suburi so fast and stuff. The balance on these things are really great.

somewhat to very expensive, but at acute intervals. Find a dojo, participate in class for a good length of time, and then you graduate to Dogi. Dogi (gi and hakama) costs anywhere from 60 to 900 bucks, from beginner to custom-super-amazing. Your Shinai also range anywhere from 20 to 60 bucks. After another long while, you graduate to Bogu (armor), which, for a reasonable set, costs about 500 bucks on average. Super-awesome-amazing-custom stuff can cost like 4 thousand dollars, though. You needn't worry about all the high prices I mention. Haha.

If you have your own job, you should be able to save more than enough over the duration of time in order to purchase what you need to purchase. Once you buy stuff, though, It'll last you a good 15-20 years (armor especially) with some maintenance here and there. My sensei has had his Dogi and one of his shinai for 7 years. The only problem with his dogi is that the indigo's anti-bacterial properties are starting to wear off. I guess you could call the result smell part of the essence of kendo. Hahaha.

I do Lau gar Kung Fu. Ive been doing it for about 2 years and I'm on a green sash. Things moved really fast at the start but its slowing down now because one of the clubs closed down and i can only go once a week, it really makes a difference because i find it hard to remember some move sets so i cant grade, I'm trying hard not to drop it but i don't feel motivated anymore:guilty:

That's a shame indeed, once every week just isn't enough. You could practice things at home, but then you'd be limited in space and trainings partner.... and it just isn't the same without sensei (in your case probably sifu) yelling at you.

Yeah. I miss my sensei's kiai. No practice for more than a week really blows.

Yesterday at training we had to kick 5 times at this cushion someone was holding, then run to the other guy and do 5 kicks with your other leg.... to move on to the sensei and knee his cushion 5 times with each knee while he was swinging at your head. :D

It was hilarious when one of my friends had to do that, because he was giving his all and the sensei was still like "Harder, come on you wimp, you can do better than that" and halfway there he threw away the cushion and was like "I don't need it with your weak knees" and just had him kneeing his stomach without any protection and then went like "NOT IN THE NUTS YOU FOOL".... I lost it. I mean, you're not supposed to laugh during a serious training, but that was just beyond ridiculous.

He's a good sensei but sometimes gets caught up in his own enthusiasm.

My kendo sensei and others from the dojo he attends in miami did this dope demo at the Hatsume Festival today. It was so dope. They had this other dojo "do kendo", but it was so lame. They were like dancing around to music and crap. I just laughed, shook my head, and walked away. TOTAL McDojo. I'm so glad I'm where I am with kendo now. My sensei pwns. One of the guys from his dojo is like 70 years old. He was whooping some butt, yo. They stomped on the stage so hard doing fumikomi that they knocked a screw out. My sensei's fumikomi is ridiculous. All you heard was like "*BBBOOOOOOOSSSSHHH*--MEN!!!!" Hahaha. The older guy, Sensei Rivera, was really cool though. I enjoyed watching him. He and Sensei Meade, another senior sensei, were real cool. They both did Kata together. It was beautiful, man. They were ridiculously smooth and harmonized. Anyway, I met all of them beforehand. My Sensei introduced me backstage. Rivera, Meade, and William Collazo, the host for the crowd who also had an awesome kiai, are Shidan (4), with my Sensei, Mapp, who is Nidan (2), and another guy (I forgot his name, damn it.) who was Sankyu (3K).

Hopefully I'll be able to drive my ass down to Miami to train with them some day. They're all class individuals who really have a passion for the sport and art. I learned a lot from them all today.

I just got finnished watching the Pride Dreamers Grand Prix. Everyone was saying it was going to be a boring even but man... there were a few "upsets" and all of the fights were exciting. :D i wont give away any spoilers. A friend of mine streamed it to me from Korea. it was amazing as usual. :) There's nothing quite like seeing some of the best fighters in the world go at it. Hopefully someone makes a highlight soon so i can post it here. or maybe some animated GIF's.

Thanks, I'll enjoy watching them... at least I assume that I will.

*edit*

First fight I watch is over in 10 seconds, haha. Pedro Rizzo just displayed why you have to keep your guard up, also when kicking.

*edit again*

That Mark Coleman is an unsportsmanlike psycho, trying to continue fighting when the other is obviously injured and unable to fight back.

*and again*

Which prick decided to add a whiney punk rock song to the soundtrack of that UFC video at the bottom? Completely out of place, not to mention the song sucks.

*another addition*

This one of the previous pride tourney is jokes, hilarious...

Even with extra luggage you can still whoop some ass.

coleman didnt realize that Shogun was hurt. he thought the ref was just gonna stand them up again. Coleman is one of the most well behaved fighters in the MMA. its just he really didnt want to lose that fight or take any chances. That was really ignorant to call coleman an unsprtsmanlike Psycho.

Mark Hunt is a Sadist. he could have Ended the fight on the 1st round but instead he tortured Nishima for 3 rounds lol. Nishima is a true warrior for taking all of that punnishment.

Hunt's still 1 of my fav fighters.. he Just stood there with his hands down and ate a few punches from a Pro Boxer.

Ok... if you say so. In this video he was acting mad for a long time though, it was obvious the other wasn't going to get up anymore. Then again, the camera got a better look at the situation than him. That Mark Hunt fight isn't in there, is it?

Dude, Coleman wasn't pissed off when he realized the arm was broken. He was trying to ward off all the other psychos going apescheisse trying to get at him.
