I was enjoying this race , I was right up jimmy whizz's ass for ages , lol. then around 2:50 you can see me fly across the track when I got disconnected :grumpy:

Yes those comments made me laugh. No need to edit the video as the card captures in youtube friendly mpeg .ts.

For those interested the overall setup has one draw back. You have to change the PS3 display output to component (for now).


1xWinTV HD PVR
1xPS3 component cable
1xComponent cables for pass thru output
1xPC


VHScrCap (optional for live streaming to ustream / justin.tv)
Adobe Flash Media 3.1 (optional to provide live streaming)

Bold items are what were used in the video I tested today. Live streaming is for well, broadcasting the session live :)

So the HD PVR does pass thru so you can play on your HDTV if it has component input as you are recording.

In the HDPVR App it is as simple as choosing audio / video source and clicking "record".

You probably could not play the game via the PC as it has lag of 1second maybe less but COD would be ok, just. Possible PC Spec issue??

Then lastly just upload that raw file to youtube. I have 8mb upload so it is quick for me to send 1GB Vid to the tube.

Like I say I could set it up for live broadcast on my justintv channel when we have a long session. New thread, let people laugh and comment as we whizz by :)

I replaced my HD capture box today and started playing with it.

As a test I recorded 6:12 mins of the UK Mature Racers at the Nurburgring in Minis. Sorry if I did not get everyone as I was playing with setups.

Hope you dont mind. It is an example of the clean racing this group provides.

Thought this was going to be a vid of the golf race on the nurb with the MASS pile up! Great fun running with you guys for a short time last night, will definately be up for some more next chance I get, I can see A-Spec being forgotten for a while soon!
By the way, sorry for hassling you last night AdeUk, wasn't sure who's lounge we were using.

This establishment seams to be exactly what I was looking for. I hope there is still a place for me although I will not take too much space as my gaming time is being limited by sharing the TV and PS3 with the rest of the family.

hi guys. Don't know what was going on with my connection last night, unless my girlfriend was walking round the flat in her lead lined PJ's again.
Anyway was good to meet up with some like minded UK racers, looking forward to seeing you all out on the track soon!

Met lunchbox briefly yesterday for a few laps around Tsukuba in the Mini - guess I need to practice that a bit! (BTW, sorted my headset but its still poo, so will get sony one today methinks.)

Great videos Komp - the whole thing is looking good, will try and get on soon with you all.

I think I will be doing it this way in the future. Should cut down on the crash n bash drivers randomly consuming our precious 16 slots in the lobby.

In My Lounge, players can pick the track of their choice, set up custom race regulations, and hold private custom racing events with their friends. Up to 16 players can race at the same time. It's even possible to sit back and watch without having to join the race yourself, with a variety of race camera views available. People in the lounge can even do free runs around the track before the race begins.

Great work on posting the replays so quickly komp, and thanks for hosting the lobby last night. Can't believe we had 16 in and there was no sign of lag - awesome!
Even the arrival of Alonso and his mates from over the water didn't affect the graphics, just a shame they weren't as clean and fair as we'd have liked.

No probs on the uploads Basher, I am glad we all enjoy them.

Maybe we should try the LIVE streaming option as well :) I think the OP needs to update the first post, add some of the videos so people can see.

The other downside to this is that this little group has become mega popular and we do only have MAX 16 slots for folks.

Lunchbox is online now mate, I am sure he will add some of the video to the first post and also within the group page he has created.

Wouldn't worry about the group size mate, the bigger the better. Not everyone will be online every night, maybe at the weekend or on a busy night we can just split things up and have 2 lobbies of 8/9/10?

On XBL we had a club with over 100 members, on practice nights we'd just split the lobbies after one qualifying session. Simply done in time order so you race with people closest to your pace. Lobby A is full of the fastest quali times posted, then Lobby B, Lobby C etc etc. On race nights we'd post up the lobbies on the forums for the boys to see who was there lobby host and what time they needed to be in the room ready to go. Once in, the qualifying commences, (5 laps), then drivers await their messages from the lobby captains. The lobbies are then split for the racing and away you go. All places/times get recorded at the end by the lobby captain who then posts them on the forum for all to see.

Replays get saved and posted online - Some really great things happen during these races and there is nothing better in my opinion than watching them back at the end of a good evenings racing. It also ensures clean racing as the replays will highlight any naughty moves!:)👍
During championship races, the replays are scrutinised by previously appointed race officials who have the authority to penalise or correct an appeal.

Leaderboards, points, prizes etc rolls on from there.

Lets just keep doing what we are doing, its really growing quickly with new arrivals daily.

I have a couple of questions for someone out of the brilliant array of clean racers this site has to answer.

I have used racing simulators for about 10 years. Mainly live for speed with a g25 but now gt5 is alive and kicking, live for speed is dead and I'm loving every second of gt5. I need the challenge of other real racers as no matter what level, I find racing the AI too easy..

I would class myself as an extremely clean and fast racer who tries to keep every action as realistic as possible (what gt5 is all about)

My questions are: does this mini racing happen everynight? And what is the server name? And who is the main guy I need to add on psn?

Uk, Bristol
Weapon of choice: my beloved g25!
Pros: I never do anything that's not clean, fair and above all else realistic.

Can someone help me out by answering these qs?

Yo!

Nah - it's not mini racing everynight. Me, Lunchbox and co were rinsing the Supras/Skylines last night. We mix it up.

There's no server name. Add Lunchbox.

Can I also suggest anyone else wanting to join this community does so by visiting the social group and posting your details on there? No one is going to take much notice of the details you leave in this particular thread (I would imagine).

Gonna get my headset on the go tonight so I can get the trash talkin' going when I'm burning you all off!!!! Ha!
