We aim to please. Unlike some people over at places like GameFAQs - yes, I know the forums can only be described with four-letter words - who put spoilers in thread titles and have an unhealthy obsession with seeing Snake and Sunny or Ocelot and Sunny or pretty much any other character ad Sunny have a romantic sub-plot ...@ do you race - thanks for being careful 👍
Does anyone in the UK have this preordered? Where from? I would go down to Game but I have to say I hate them almost as much as I hate Halfords and Jessops, and I get the feeling GamesPod in Farnham might do a midnight release like they did with Halo 3... It would be criminal if they didn't, seeing as how tragically poor Halo 3 turned out to be!
Er, yeah, so where have people preordered from?

Konami look set to announce that the ultimate Metal Gear Solid experience, MGS for the PSOne, will be making its way to Sony's Playstation Network sometime in the next month, after the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots. Along with further rumours that they are also planning to launch a software update with MGS4 to include cross media bar integration and those infamous trophies, it seems this is another rumoured aspect of the MGS saga.
The series has always been rumoured to appear in some shape or form on one of many downloadable services for various consoles over the last year. Microsoft's rival machine, the 360, is also being touted to recieve the original Playstation classic very shortly, if reliable sources are to be believed.
An original source over at PartnerNet, the developers-only Xbox Live network used to beta-test unreleased downloadable Xbox 360 games, commented on the rumours, and now it seems we are likely to hear from Konami imminently on this hot topic.
Yes, I’m British. I spell “rumour” with two u’s. What U going to do about it? Well hopefully you’ll have no time to do anything, because either you’ll be embedded in Snake’s final mission on the Playstation 3, or engrossed in one of Snake’s first on the Xbox 360.
Yes, with knowledge comes…well, snappy Ripten headings, and this time it could read; “Metal Gear Solid Coming to the Xbox 360.” At least, not in the form you might expect. As we all know MGS4 couldn’t possibly fit on a measley DVD, but Metal Gear Solid 1 might fit into 350mb (though even that’s questionable.)
Indeedy do, MGS may be following its tactical steps onto the Japan PSN Store by infiltrating Xbox Live Arcade. This is not too surprising, since the series has made its way onto non-Playstation consoles a number of times, and Microsoft even published MGS for the PC release.
I expect you’re asking how we know, or who our source is. Lets just say a reliable individual tapped into our codec frequency after spying the game on a certain pre-release network. We shall say no more - nudge nudge, wink wink - except this; there are problems in bringing Kojima’s masterpiece to this new playing field.
Naturally, rumours can turn out to be false, so we’ll bring you more information as it becomes available.
*Update* - Some have responded rather violently to this story, so I must mention a few words of solace. This was posted as rumour, not fact. Nor is the rumour itself any challenge to PlayStation fans. I am not talking of Metal Gear Solid 4 being ported to the Xbox 360, but a 10 year old classic that has found its way onto a number of platforms, with Microsoft themselves publishing the PC conversion.
Of course, it’s hard to understand how MGS1 could fit into 350mb due to the lengthy dialogue, but it wouldn’t be surprising for Microsoft to make an exception.
I originally withheld our evidence due to possible difficulties, but after the response I will spell it out. MGS was spied by our contact on on PartnerNet, the developers-only Xbox Live network used to beta-test unreleased downloadable Xbox 360 games.
Moreover, we’ve reported on rumours in the past and have mostly been proved correct. One notable example was our article on MGS4 using a 50GB Blu-ray, which was subsequently sourced around the web and on the infamous Neogaf forums. The news was finally confirmed by Ryan Payton in the following week’s Kojima Productions Report.
Of course rumours may offend you, for which this story is not of interest, but if they do interest you, we’re pretty confident in our sources this time.
Just looked at the gamebox in my local gamestore, and this game won't be in 1080p,only 720p was on the back (dunno if its been posted before, i didn't read the thread.)
All the hype about PS3 being true high definition, and being 1080p bla bla.... when it came out.
If Hideo Kojima can't make the ps3 do 1080p then noone can.
It sucks!
I was waitin for a game to show the true power of the ps3...and this game is the game that cud stop all 360 vs ps3 wich is better threads
Anyway i know it doesn't matter, but still why no 1080p?!!!
Nope, he wasn't lying, D-N. The game is 720p. However, other discs supplied might be in 1080p.

Interesting though... because that not only says display copy only and says it's the PAL version (not the NTSC version), but that was from over three weeks ago and doesn't look anything like the recent box art as published on GameStop's site.
Also, the standard edition box art as seen below the limited edition box art, only has one disc... but also clearly says 1080p.
Good point, and until we actually see and play the game, we won't know for sure what the game specs really are. 👍I think the point is that he probably wasn't lying. The box he looked at likely did say 720p. That doesn't mean he was correct, but misinformed,
