You mean Act 3, right? Not the bit on top of Drebin's Stryker in Act 2? You pretty much need the Solar Gun, from what I recall. Don't shoot anything that might explode, don't shoot FROGS who are mid-jump... I can't really think of any other advice. If you're playing on Normal you could probably get away with shooting very little, keep a healing track on the iPod and use the Metal camo (if you have it) to halve the damage you take. I don't remember having to shoot a single FROG but I did start the Raging Raven fight with very low health.

I was referring to the bit on Drebin's Stryker in Act 2, though I forgot that there was a scene in Act 3 as well.

I assumed you meant Act 3 because there aren't any FROGS in the Act 2 chase... Are there? For Act 2 you need the Saiga loaded with V-ring ammo to keep up with all the enemies climbing on, you also have to be careful that explosions from destroying Gekko don't kill anyone and the powered suits count as kills so use the Mk.22 or Saiga on them. I've personally never had a problem with that bit.

I have a game save from a long while ago where i got to the final slug fest with liquid on a bbe run. I never finished due to moving. does anyone one know if that would still qualify for the trophy after patching?

also, can you only earn a patch once, or do you earn it every time you complete a play-through with its requirements?

Sorry but no, you have to start a new save for trophies to count, and you can only earn an emblem once as far as I'm aware, there's not much point being able to earn it more than once really.

At the beginning, I stayed behind the turret without shooting anything and CQC'd any who got on, eventually Drebin just runs through that 1st gate. Clean shots on the Gekko and vehicles. I ended up shooting a couple Gekko with the tranq. gun haha. Different ways you can do this, but the way I did it was pretty slow.

Jeez. That is a lot of work. I haven't played this in years (BD snapped in two) and will surely be picking up another copy soon, but I had no idea that 100% completion required that much work. It's unlikely that I'll even get half of that done.

I finish my Big Boss Extreme run yesterday and this was my time, a pretty good time actually.

Nicely done, I think I was on 2h by the time I got to the Act 3 chase... That's fast!

has anyone else attempted to download the MGS4 update? I saw it a couple of days ago at IGN. The update is dubbed "Version 2.00" , a hefty 517 MB , and features the ff:

- Trophies Set
- Full Install option (most probably it's an option wherein the game loads smoothly from chapter to chapter, in the past the game has to install every time you shift to a new chapter)
- METAL GEAR ONLINE game access, game data and save data removal (Konami has shut down the MGO servers recently, don't know the exact date. sad :( )

Also, there are some notes that came with that:

- Save data created before the update cannot be used to earn trophies
- Save data created after the update cannot be used as pre-update save files

I'm downloading the update right now, it's about to be finished.

There is nothing that hasn't been discussed in this thread already...

That's my bad, sorry for not reading the last few pages of the thread. I'm so sorry. Jerk. :irked:

Why did you call him a jerk? You posted something that is old news and were informed as such.

I found a comprehensive guide to obtain Platinum, 8 playthroughs need to be done.
8 playthoughs? Seriously? Wow. So if I played it three times in the good old days already then that would equal.... *starts counting on fingers and then fingers run out and so picks up calculator*.. eleven playthroughs.

Let me get back to you on that.

Download the PDF, the 1st play should be on easy to collect certain emblems, the next several playthrough is for other difficult to obtain emblems and trophies. The great thing is with 2.0 update and full install, there's no need for act install anymore.

Still silly. I like games that give extra incentive to keep playing after the "end" but that's just too much, playing MGS2 five or six times to get the dog tags for each difficulty was bad enough.

Metal Gear Solid 4 25th Anniversary Edition Spotted For UK Market.

Cinema Blend
Konami will be re-releasing Metal Gear Solid 4 to stores. Two retail chains in the UK now have listings for a Metal Gear Solid 4 25th Anniversary Edition. They state that this special package will arrive on November 30th.

Both Zavvi and ShopTo list the game's price as £19.99, around $30 US. There's no mention of what's included besides the game itself. The extras, if any, must be limited if the retailers' pricing is accurate.

I don't think there was any DLC.

I wonder if that 25th Anniversary Edition comes with any extras or if it's just the current version of the game on the disk so that a big download isn't necessary for new buyers.

There were downloadable camos, music tracks and podcasts, MGO also had expansion packs but that hardly matters now... No PSN store DLC though.

Yeah it's a shame the MGO servers are being taken down. Never did get the chance to play online.

You didn't want to. It sucked. Too many cheaters and it wasn't that great before they showed up, either.

My online MGS4 was terrible without the cheaters. My online connection speed destroyed any enjoyment value of the online gaming world, so take that in consideration.

This. The servers has more holes than swiss cheese. Latency was through the roof..and the sky..and space.

Oh and there were so many glitches. So many

They could easily add that stuff back into the game though via PSN. I'll admit that I didn't get all of the stuff when it was first available, so I would love to have another crack at it if it becomes available on the PSN store.

It went beyond terrible servers, as the game was inherently flawed in the coding itself. There are YouTube videos pointing this out, while the players themselves have excellent connection. The lag made a bad problem worse.

But someone mentioned that Kojima did not want to include online gameplay as him and his team did not know how to make a proper online shooter. I guess MGO was a somewhat token attempt.

It may have been a token attempt but it was brilliantly different from every other game I'd played, and I genuinely hope they make a 3rd
