Great performer, confused guy, possibly guilty of some pretty awful things.

To be honest - I know this is bad - I'm kindof relieved. He can't drag his own name through the mud anymore.

I really enjoyed his music and dancing.

I wish in a way he had just done his last tour because then it would have been a more positive image to remember him by. Sure there are many great memories of him but its best to leave on a high note if you know what I mean.

I know its a bad example but its like when Diana died as this kind of saint and people will always remember her frozen in time. If she had gone on to become really unpopular maybe her lasting image wouldnt have been such a fond one by the british public. So all this recient scandal with Micheal may make his memory hard to judge.

Robin.

The associated Press just confirmed his death.

Seems this is how the Press wants to remember him. Stupid AP.
As years went by, he became an increasingly freakish figure — a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grownup life. His skin became lighter and his nose narrower. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, often wore a germ mask while traveling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions. Story Here
Just because he has a monkey doesn't give AP the right to call him freakish. :D

That's too bad. RIP MJ...

While I really was never a big fan of his music,I do give him all the credit in the world for all of his accomplishments in the recording industry. He did have a brilliant career.Sad to hear of this.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

One of my FB friends posted this:
sad news #1 : michael jackson is dead. sad news #2 : we are going to hear a lot of michael jackson songs...

#2 made me laugh.

R.I.P. to a person that has accomplished so many things. Ironically, whilst I was listening to these news on the car of my dad, as we were coming to my house from the doctor, I was singing in my head Daddy Yankee's song "Llamado de emergencia". The following lyrics, to be precise:

Attention all units
Emergency Call System 911
Dying man with apparent heart attack
We need immediate assistance in the area

Considering that your opinion of Michael Jackson could never really be Black or White, it was often hard for people to Come Together on their feelings for the man. Seeing as how he is now Gone Too Soon, the best thing we can do is Remember the Time we had with him, and let his memory Ease on Down the Road.

Godspeed Mr. Jackson, The Way You Make Me Feel will always be positive despite the more-recent Off the Wall action. Just a Little Bit of You will certainly live forever. Thriller.

I dont understand the thoughtless comments being made here and elsewhere

No matter what you think of him, he was someone's friend, brother, son, or father, and I'm sure they're hurting right now.

Death is right around the corner for any of us. You should keep that in mind when disrespecting the dead.

I think part of the problem is that the media is making it seem like Jesus died. He was just a man and men die every single day, where's their attention?

If he doesn't deserve the attention "he" is getting now that he is dead, why did he even deserve it when he was alive, then?

I don't think he did, he was a man who sang. We have numerous other people, scientist, educators, medical personal, etc. that do more every single day for human kind then sing some tunes. I really think western society puts way to much emphasis on entertainers and athletes when all they really do is make up smile occasionally.

Sad his life got totally screwed up, but MJ was never 100% mentally. I guess he did the best he could.

You can't be an '80s child and not admit he impacted your life in some way. Either it was his 'moonwalk' dance move or his crotch-grabbing yank or his 'hee-hee-hee' or the several mega-pop hits he had, he did make an impact on your life in some way either as a joke or entertainment.

I remember watching Billy Jean music video at a friends house and was floored. Beat It was the best song of 1984 after Panama and Hot For Teacher, as far as I'm concerned. All Van Halen guitar songs, BTW.

It's over, and maybe it's better for him it's over. It's hard to tell.

RIP

I won't lie to you, Joey. I agree with you 100%. I don't hate people per se, but rather society itself. I don't understand how a footballer can win more money in a year that a good doctor, when the footballer is likely not to have studied during his entire life. Proof of this are many argentine footballers. I don't think they deserve the respect they get for having done a goal with a hand. But I also think that they are still persons. It depends on the individual, but I'm sure Michael Jackson deserves at least some respect for his death. He may haven't done much for human kind, as you say. But I'm positively sure he put a smile on millions of people at least.

He brought a lot of joy to millions and millions of people, and was a childhood hero to many, myself included.

Death is a fact of life (if that makes sense), without getting too morbid, everyone you've every known or met will face it. MJ was nothing more than a man, people popular in their own fields will get the same attention from that specific community, but MJ's popularity was global, hence the global attention.

R.I.P Michael Jackon

Condolences to his children and family. Always a shame when someone dies so young. Other than that, about as significant to me as Jade Goody passing.

I am anticipating an Onion headline along the likes of

"Michael Jackson's death stuns lone remaining fan."

and whatnot.

In his prime he really was such a fantastic perfomer who has been imitated all over the world, sad to see that he had issues that caused all the controversy in the years following.

I don't know if he was guilty of the things he was charged for or not but as fan from my young years

RIP Micheal Jackson.

I was never a big fan of his music, but I really appreciate what he did for the world of entertainment. Very sad news. I feel really bad for his children, I hope they'll be okay.

Rest in peace.
