I think what was perhaps the most offensive about his passing is that it took less than 3 hours for the Jokes to start popping up.

His contribution to the music industry is rivalled by only a select few. In the years to come, I hope that is what he will be remembered for.

When certain folks die... no, I really don't care. He didn't deserve respect a day ago when he was alive, and just because he's dead now doesn't change that. I'm not going to pretend like the guy's some sort of hero because he sold a bunch of records. The guy was a freak. Plain and simple. It's been proven time and time again that having money can get you out of pretty much any situation - his cases are no different.
A man who donates $300 million to charities & did humanitarian work to better our own lives doesn't deserve respect?

What makes you so special? That you weren't suspected of being a pedophile.

Good point 👍 It's funny when you know you are right, but can't explain why. Many times, though not most of the times, I find myself in that situation.

Josh probably doesn't have inappropriate relationships with unsupervised children.

The fact that he was suspected of being a paedophile seems to be the main reason people do not like him. We have to remember that no prosecution came against MJ. Some say that he paid his way out of it, but I think the "victims" were in it for the money, simply because I can't believe any parent would allow a man to walk free who they knew was guilty of sex offences against there child in exchange for money.

We had jokes about Jade Goodys death before she had even died...

Absolutely.

I still remember rocking out to the Thriller album when it came out (I know, I'm old). He had a strange life, so it really is no surprise he went a bit off the deep end towards the end of his life.

He will be missed.

RIP

;)

I just don't like his music; never did. And regardless of his sexual procilivites I think he was a first-class whackjob. I don't really respect him.

Nonetheless, it's not a good thing that he's dead.

Yea, OJ was innocent also.

Even if he wasn't a pedophile (which is a big assumption), he was still a first class wackjob toward the end of his career. The reconstructive surgery which seemed clearly designed to turn him from a black man into a white woman didn't help one bit.

I enjoyed quite a bit of his music - and I put some on yesterday to mark his passing. But I fully understand why people might not be particularly broken up or emotional about the passing of such a confused individual. That's aside from whatever you might suspect about the charges of sexual assault.

Well that's the tragedy of it all. He was so nice but something wasn't right... which I'm sure we will hear about sooner or later as the origins of his peter pan-ism and all of that come out. And wasn't the white skin treatment to cover his growing vitiligo?

Hmmm, I'm having a sense of deja vu here...

Anyway, it seems MJ was roughly half a billion dollars in debt  The organisers of his comeback tour are well and truly up a certain odoursome creek without means for propulsion too... and many people who paid over the odds prices for their tickets on eBay are also up that same creek. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if the tickets become collector's items in their own right, and have no doubt that people will be on eBay right now trying to buy them...

There's no doubt that MJ had mental issues, which is a real shame. Imagine if he would have been able to lead a normal life, I'm sure he would still be a 1st rate artist and producer today.

@ TM - Don't forget that he still owns the rights to many Beatles songs and his back catalogue of work is going to see a boost of sales. His "assets" (his music) wil continue to sell and I'm sure the proceeds will be used to clear the remainder of his debt. The reason he accumulated so much was because of his rediculous spending. Now that he's not here to spend so much his earnings should be allocated to covering his debts.

I saw on Sky News that Ticketmaster will be refunding all ticket fees (good news for me!).

It's amazing how quick the media moves. There is a Michael Jackson life story on Sky One tonight at 8pm. I also got into work this morning and checked Ebay for Michael Jackson items. There was a tribute mousemat already designed and up for sale.

Really somber news about his passing yesterday :(

Can't say that I was ever a big fan of him or his music, but
I am old enough to remember his Thriller album (I was about 5 when it came out) and remember seeing his videos on MTV as a kid.

I rather liked the 80's as a kid growing up, and even though he began his career much earlier, his music will always be associated with that decade in my mind.

Sad day, really sad day.

I'm not interested in what he did in his private life, but as a musician, and entertainer, Michael Jackson is one of THE greatest that has ever been, or ever will be!

His music formed a large part of my childhood during the 80's, and I have to say that I'm shocked he's gone so young.

Maybe now, Michael has found the peace he never got in life.

RIP Michael Jackson :(

Most of us wouldn't go to the pedophile's funeral so the computer will have to suffice.

On a side note CNN just reported Michael's last words...

"Take me to the children's hospital!"

Grow up buddy. That's enough.

Dunno, I just fail to muster much emotion for the death of an artist I don't really care much for. Michael Jackson just isn't my music - I'll be more bothered when Aretha Franklin dies, for example.

Mark

He didn't own the entire Beatles right at the very end, he had to effectively mortgage them off towards the end in a bid to try and get his finances under control.

I believe (but am not 100% sure) that Sony BMG actually have a partial stake in them.

Unless someone is breaking the AUP they have as much of a right to post on here as you do.

Some people are not fans of MJ and will not suddenly get sentimental because he has passed.

You will find a number of people have argued that MJ used his fame and (at the time) money to effectively buy his way out of legal situations, that still remains a perfectly valid opinion to hold, regardless of if you agree with it or not.

So in the forums about motorsports its not OK to state the desire to see a driver crash or get injured, but its OK to laugh and joke about someone's death

Whatever

I agree that everyone has the right to their own opinion over certain individuals! ... but there's a time and a place!
( Maybe start a MJ hate thread in a few days and see where you go? ) this guy has had years of coverage and plenty of instances where he has been dragged through the mud and been the centre of contraversy! but to post in such a nasty manner in a thread announcing that said persons death is in very poor taste imo :yuck:

If you didn't like the guy or have anything constructive to say about his career then why bother even posting? Some people seem to have no respect for the dead and don't really deserve any back. 👎

Yeah everyone has the right to like/dislike etc... but pick your moments better! ffs the guy only passed away 24 hours ago
