Seriously guys wtf has happened to some of you? Grow the hell up...

It's worst

Absolutely unacceptable. Joking about death is not worse than wishing someone dead. I don't even know how you can begin to support a position like that - it's absurd. Think before you post.

Have you lost your mind? Or were you a morally inept heartless human from birth?

So in the forums about motorsports its not OK to state the desire to see a driver crash or get injured, but its OK to laugh and joke about someone's death

Whatever

Nobody yet has said they are glad he is dead, and nobody wished he would die when he was alive. When that line is crossed, it will be dealt with.

How is joking about someone's death actually worse than wishing them dead? I don't get it. It is possible to make a joke of death, which might show disrespect for the person, but disrespect is NOT worse than wishing them actual harm.

He's already dead. Joking about it doesn't make him deader. Wishing someone dead could potentially translate into the act itself, and at the least demonstrates an unacceptable level of hostility.

That being said, can we keep this to a minimum?

My dad and I used to joke about his death all the time (in fact relatively shortly before he actually died the Christmas before last). We had a laugh about it together.

Was that worse than if I had wished death upon him? Does that make the two of us "morally inept heartless humans"? Of course not.

Wishing someone dead is considerably worse than joking about it (whether before or after). I have no clue how you can say otherwise.

So, after Dale Earnhardt died would it be OK for for me to joke about the accident?

It sends chills down my spine knowing I associate with people on this forum that are as tasteless and classless as what I've seen in this thread. In the real world I tend to associate with people who show class and have their head screwed on right, not just the random thug like you got in this forum.

I'm going to consider cutting down or all together cutting off all the time I spend in online forums

Did you joke about it 24 hours after he died? Right. And I would like to see what you would say if someone else joked about it after his death

Oddly not, since I didn't actually find out until 28 hours after he died. I don't think he'd have had an issue about it though, considering just how often we did joke about it (2 people I've seen watching this thread and one who has posted had met him. They would be probably unsurprised by this).

And I would like to see what you would say if someone else joked about it after his death

Some people did. My brother and HIS brother - a 72 year old Welsh man - were amongst them. I told a joke about him at his funeral. Most people laughed.

This aside, joking about it is absolutely not worse than wishing someone dead.

Edit: Now this seems to have settled down, can we please heed Duke's words above (and now below)?

Duke

R.I.P. Michael:(

I wasn't a fan of his personality but I loved his music(mostly Thriller).

Also, why is it that EVERY channel(ok just CBS,ABC and NBC) was talking about him all morning? I thought that was only reserved for Presidents.

Despite the controversies in the latter part of his life, he was a great entertainer.

Only found out while i was at work yesterday.

Are people with down's syndrome, asperger syndrome, schizophrenia, alzheimers, mental or physical disorders or social problems really less human to you?

Which part of both Duke's and Famine's request to stop this did you not pick up on?

First Josh's comments did not claim that any of this made MJ less human and secondly two requests have been made now by staff to stop this.

Any more of this and the thread will run the risk of getting locked.

Thanks to the mods for stepping in... in my personal defence I must admit that next to the loss of Freddie Mercury, this is the next biggest loss to music for me in my 37 years alive and sometimes I react spontaneously to what I see as tasteless posts ... I hope the thread carries on in a respectful manner as it fully deserves 👍

Again R.I.P Michael :(

Jackson's death broke the interweb

Google thought they were under attack! I have images in my mind of IT people hiding under desks :sly:

So should I ebay my Moonwalker game now?

You could sell anything with Michael Jackson on it at the moment. Looking on ebay everything is getting at least 1 bid and things like 'off the wall' LP's are going for hundreds of pounds! Crazy.

I think they should release the Moonwalker game on PSN/Live, preferably the arcade version which was isometric. I played the console version like 10 years ago at a mates house.

Anyway ive said what I had to say about Michael earlier and its really is tragic in my mind, especially now that rumours are flying around that his doctor may have overdosed him.

Robin.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson... never was a huge fan but before all the stupid stuff he did.. he was truly awesome... after the stupid stuff.... err not so much....

The part about them talking about the previous argument over jokes. I was going to discuss another matter entirely, but will now refrain. I apologize.

Here is a decent essay that speaks of his life, death and legacy that I thought was a worthwhile read. Language warning.

I had that game for Sega Megadrive (as Genesis was called in Australia) when I was a kid some one ended up stealing it. :irked:

I don't think he did, he was a man who sang. We have numerous other people, scientist, educators, medical personal, etc. that do more every single day for human kind then sing some tunes. I really think western society puts way to much emphasis on entertainers and athletes when all they really do is make up smile occasionally.
When certain folks die... no, I really don't care. He didn't deserve respect a day ago when he was alive, and just because he's dead now doesn't change that. I'm not going to pretend like the guy's some sort of hero because he sold a bunch of records. The guy was a freak. Plain and simple. It's been proven time and time again that having money can get you out of pretty much any situation - his cases are no different.

He didnt just sing, he was a huge philanthropist and did a lot of charity work. He was never convicted of molesting kids, if he did, that's horrible. But he also made a lot of people's lives better. opened a lot of doors for people.

He worked his whole live and never had a chance to have a childhood. He had a lot of psychological issues obviously with his skincolor and with his childhood.

In related news, iTunes is reporting 7 out of its Top 10 songs are Michael Jackson & rounds out their whole Top 10 Albums with only 10 being 1 other. With Thriller being the #1 sold album world wide, I can not imagine what his death will do to it.

iTunes
Top Songs
1. Man In The Mirror
3. The Way You Make Me Feel
4. Thriller
5. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough
6. Smooth Criminal
8. Black Or White
10. P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)

Top Albums
1. The Essential Michael Jackson
2. Thriller
3. Number Ones
4. Off The Wall
5. Thriller (25th Anniversary)
6. Bad
7. Michael Jackson: The Ultimate Collection
8. Dangerous
9. MJ Greatest Hits

I imagine it will change within the following days. :)

I believe hes got all of the top-sellers (top 16 albums right now) on Amazon as well. Not much of a surprise. In the top songs, he has eight of the top ten, #1 still belonging to Boom Boom Pow.

They've been running his videos on a 24 hour loop on MTV as well, and the memory flashbacks have been hitting me pretty hard. Its kinda hard thinking about how long ago some of those songs came out, what my life was like at the time, and just how different our world is today. While things like Captain Eo have me giggling at their absurdity, songs like Thriller have me singing and dancing, others just have me sitting there thinking about how heavy of a situation this really is... Really how messed up a lot of things are for me right now. But, for every Michael song and video that is totally ridiculous, there are others that knock me back into shape.

Total Side Thought:

How many of these Celebrities can you name?

Liberian Girl - 1989

If you can name at least 65% of the people in that video, congratulations, you're a product of the 1980s.

What any of that has to do with Michael Jackson being a freak for sexually abusing children I will never know, but... when down syndrome or alzheimers, or any of that, starts causing the person to start touching children in a sexual manner then yes, I will consider them to be less human.

Grow up buddy. That's enough.

How does Disney differ from Michael Jackson?

Disney can still touch little kids.

Can't please everyone!
Just ask MJ. Oh, wait...

Which part of Duke's, Famine's and Scaff's request to stop this did you not read?

RIP Michel Jackson – a great contributor to pop music industry and a great choreographer (Moonwalk ftw!!!)
