Michael Schumacher badly hurt in ski accident

People the discussion went way too far from my inital point based on what I've heard tuesday on Rai1.

Highilighted the point of my post. Some people think it's rubbish, I don't because since I live in a touristic area I very well know what tour operators can do in order to avoid bad advertising.

I know the discussion has gone well beyond this, but my reading of that news item is that the speculators are commenting on the delay before the investigation, rather than the delay in the medical attention. Two hours for someone to be airlifted from the site to one hospital, examined, then airlifted to another is very, very fast, given what I know of emergency care and hospital procedure. Especially if the patient was lucid immediately after the accident.

If you want to protect the name of your resort, you don't let a world famous athlete die on your slopes. Quite the opposite. You move heaven and earth to get him to the hospital as soon as bloody possible. Hell... FIA shenanigans wherein they give CPR to obviously dead people as they transfer them from the track is specifically so they can say they died at the hospital. That goes beyond practical care.

The investigation will most likely focus on how the accident happened, to see if the resort has any liability at all.

I just read that Schumacher already suffers from brain damage due to his crash on Cartagena in 2009. I didn't know that. According a written statement from Sabine Kehm today, he is stabile but still critical.

Everybody is concerned. You have to be a psychopath or something like that to be not concerned.
That kinda explains that failed abortion of a BNP member's comments.

I don't get it. Abortion? What does it mean in this context?

The only BNP I know is the Dutch BNP = Bruto Nationaal Product. :P

But that is probably not what you are talking about.

BNP = GNP

British National Party. They say terrible things, that's about it. One member made jokes about Schumacher, and then failed when trying to withdraw the comment.
Abortion -
bring to a premature end because of a problem or fault.
"the flight crew aborted the take-off"

Ah, ok thanks. I was thinking in the lines of an abortion. The thing women go through when a new baby is not wanted, you know.

I didn't make the connection with "to abort".

They don't when skiiers respect the boundaries. Accidents happen within boundaries as well, but going outside them is simply asking for trouble. And ultimately you'll have to pay a price for foolishness.
I cant speak for the resort in question, but lots of places have off piste areas where skiing is alowed and encouraged. Yes, it is more dangerous bit certainly not always against the rules.

A video purporting to show amateur footage of the accident has been circulating on social media, but the clip – titled "Video: Moment de l'accident de Michael Schumacher! (EXCLUSIF)" – contains a computer virus.

German chancellor`s spokeman Seibert who informed press about Mrs. Merkel`s accident. She is injured after she fell while doing cross-country skiing.

He said (translated by me): "Yes, she fell. [...] We assume it happened at low speed."

How can one not think of Schumacher`s accident when he hears such wording?

You wanted to be witty, Mr. Seibert? Dumbass. 👎

(Sorry, a bit off topic... But I had to write it down somewhere...)

For what? Having rocks?

Also, can we lose question mark from the thread title?
According him, Méribel is indirectly responsible for Schumacher's accident. He said that there should be a fence or plastic tape to mark out the deep snow with rocks.

 I assume the guy is fishing for publicity, as I am pretty sure every court in the world would laugh that one out. Would be very surprised if the Schumacher family supported it too.

I have fond memories watching Michael race in F1.
In his prime, he was a force to be reckoned with and IMO, he was a rain master when the heavens opened.
With that said,I hope he recovers from this horrible accident and my thoughts go out to his family going through these traumatic times.

A thought just came to my attention... didnt Michael get into a serious accident and go to Moto GP... is that him im thinking of (I know who schumi is, its just that I cant remember if he was the driver that left and returned...)
