Philippe Streiff talks about Schumacher in this very short summarized video clip.

He starts to talk about Schumacher in this clip (4'35").

4'56 into this video clip he says;

"Il peut pas parler" (he means: Il ne peut pas parler) >> He - Schumacher - can't talk.

"Il est comme moi, donc euh, fauteuil roulant, paralysé ...... >> He's like me, so uh, wheelchair, paralysed ......

So yes, Schumacher seems to be doing better which is relative according to Phillippe Streiff. Schumacher is in a wheelchair, paralysed and can't talk, etc ........ .

I'm with you now... when he compares Schumacher he seems to pronounce it "shmshr" and it's hard to make out, it's a thick old accent :D

I had no idea Philippe Streiff was in a wheelchair. And since 1989, before I was even born. You live and learn...

He had a ghastly accident in pre-season testing at Rio in early 1989 (teams used to show up a few weeks before the actual race). His AGS flipped after vaulting the guardrail, and the impact tore off the rollover bar.

I followed F1 at the time, and I hadn't heard about it until the that year's Autocourse hit the shelves. That's what it was like following F1 in America, in the pre-internet days...finding out a year later was rather "normal".

I didn't even know F1 existed back in '89. :embarrassed: Never heard of Streiff before today. I had to look him up. >> Double :embarrassed:

Because of the silence so far with MS, one tends to forget how grave it still is. I can understand his family keeps him out of sight seeing he is in a wheelchair and can't even talk. Also with Jules the situation seems so hopeless.

I wish them and their families lot's of strength in the coming years.

Strieff says Schumacher is paralysed and is having memory and speech problems, but Schumacher's camp says that these comments are merely Strieff's opinion:

There may be something to it - Schumacher was never going to wake up and start walking and talking as if the accident never happened. His current situation sounds completely in line with what we were told to expect.

Jules Bianchi's accident was very severe and still he wasn't in an induced coma as long as Schumacher was. Does this mean that Schumacher's brain damage is more severe than let on?

I guess his camp is (understandably) avoiding having to confirm Streiff's comments this way by saying it's 'just an opinion'. Can't really see Streiff giving all these details having imagined it all.

It's not really possible to compare brain injuries to each other.

That, and they suffered two different types of injury aswell, IIRC.

I know that you can't compare brain injuries that is not what I was doing. I just said that Schumacher's induced coma took a lot longer than Jules Bianchi's. And I also said that Jules Bianchi's accident was very severe. Schumacher stayed in an induced coma much longer and I said that maybe his brain damage is more severe than we haven been told.

Not comparing brain injuries at all.

That sounds a heck of a lot better then what I thought, I thought be was essentially unconscious & blissfully unaware of what has gone on over the last 12 months.

........

And you're in a place like GTplanet :lol:

I'm so happy that he's moving forward. Him being paralyzed and other stuff sounds scary, but there does sound like there is hope.

Funny that I just thought about him on my drive home today.

Any news about Schumacher since November?

The only thing I've seen is that the FIA have taken legal action to stop Philippe Streiff from telling lies (their words) about Jules Bianchi's condition. I'd give similar credence to his previous words on Schumacher.

EDIT:

No news there, just an explanation of head-injury-recovery-in-general.

Luca Di Lizard says that he "has news" about MSC and that "it isn't good". It's hard to tell what this might mean - arguably there has been no good news about Schumacher's condition since the accident. Sabine Kehm has declined to furnish any more details. BBC.

He never woke up did he?

Sadly not, but that's about all we know. There were comments from Philip Streiff that claimed to give more detail but, as with his comments in the Bianchi case, these were strongly rebuffed and seemingly debunked.

It's at this point where I feel that best case is he may wake up and have almost no cognitive functions.
Worst case would be coma to death.

Sad news. :( I think i read he did wake but has little function. I hope if possible they can keep trying though to get him going. Children are so resilient from those injuries and adults are so slow. A young child would probably have recovered from schumachers injury in a couple months...

Michael Schumacher 'cannot walk'

That's according to a lawyer who is currently prosecuting a German magazine for misinformation.

Hope they sue the magazine to the point of bankruptcy.

This was done for one reason make money by selling a story that they know is fake.

One would think that these companies would learn from things like gawker case
Where you publish things you know you shouldnt.

To be honest him walking is not something I expecting from one necessaryily hoped for. I was hoping he'd get to a point where he was fully aware of himself and surroundings and able to talk and be father/husband again. That would be miraculous let alone him walking again.

Press vultures.

No, it was done as a way to get them to release the truth via a court case. Publish fake story, get taken to court, defending party has to reveal truth to prove lie.

As I say, vultures.
Did you too watch spotlight?:P
