Microsoft drops all DRM.

Wow it's number one in the domestic market (US ain't the world), which accounts for what 1/3 of the world market console wise...
They don't care about asia, Europe is okayish for them (let alone the Bricks countries). That's not how a world company should work.

But what ever creams your corn. If in Europe it is so far behind and in the US only 3 places between them, well you can make the math and find the middle...

I bet the first mandatory internet set-up connects the console to a CIA satellite through a wireless link :sly:

But on a serious note, if Sony had gone for the same approach to DRM as Microsoft did, do you think Microsoft would have still changed their mind? Did they change their mind mainly because of the public outcry, or mainly because of the Sony statement?

It's #1 on Amazon.com.

Still doesn't mean much though, the people that pre-order consoles are a small minority in the grand scheme of things.
And the PS4 is #4,5,8,17,20,86 at the same time. How on earth does one know that the x1 sold better then? Couldn't it be that all those PS4 versions toghether got preordered in much bigger amounts than the x1?

No worries, I give the answer: Yes, it is possible!

More likely Sony is the cause, MS is not willing to take the risk, if MS really intended to make a change with good cause, they won't easily wimp out even before release ;) Also, probably another reason is execs saving their collective hide, yeah looking at you Mattrick, now we don't need 360 anymore ?

I believe Sony had something similar in mind as MS. I think they both new the other was going drm. The mistake MS made was trying to jump Sony on the E3 release. Sony seen the backlash, did thier own in house 180. That left MS standing alone on drm. Maybe jumping the competition isnt always a good plan.
