Microsoft drops all DRM.

Was never an issue for me. The other issues still exist.

Conversely, it was the only issue for me. Well, at least the required 24-hour internet check-in that resulted from trying to implement the DRM.

I'm not gonna be running out to buy One any time soon, since I'm still quite angry that Microsoft would even try to implement such a requirement and I'm not willing to pay $500 for a box that is inferior in most ways to the PS4.

But now I'll at least consider getting one in the future. Before this announcement, I absolutely refused to ever buy one due to its 24-hour check in requirement, no matter what amazing games the system might eventually have.

The Kinect issue is a non-issue. If you're honestly that damn paranoid about Microsoft spying on your living room but would still like to enjoy the gameplay experiences that the console has to offer, just unplug the 🤬 thing when it's not actively in use.

My cousin told me he was going to put a piece of tape over the camera and several pieces over the mic. You could try those creative ideas.

I'm going to knit mine a little tea cosy. Practical AND aesthetically pleasing!

Neither did mine, but it could have. The fact that we were exposed to that risk by Sony's negligence in how they stored that data is, for me, worse than any hardware failure ever could be. Especially a hardware failure that was handled as well as MS handled the RROD.

Honestly, they did right by customers given the situation. Free replacements, free shipping, etc. They even extended the console warranty so if yours went later than most you could still get it replaced for free.
I agree with you. The PSN getting hacked and stealing gamers identity is far worse than the RROD failure rate of the 360. Which as mentioned above, could be repaired for FREE. ALL my RROD were repaired for free. MS even paid shipping both ways. Some were returned within 1-2 days!! Then on top of that they extended the warranty for free for EVERYONE.

Live is a better online experience and hasn't been hacked so far in all the years I have been on live. I started a playstation fan back on the PS1 and have slowly slipped to xbox then 360. Now the playstation is charging to play online on the PS4 (no longer free). So at this point its just a no brainer for me to eventually get the X1. The ONLY thing PS2 and PS3 had going for them when it comes to online gaming was the fact it was free. Now that is out of the equation, I just see myself moving away from the playstation experience. Also PSN updates are known for bricking PS3s. Just like the recent 4.45 update. I don't think I will get the X1 at launch, but if I had to pick a next gen console, it would be the X1.

No, it's a rare occurrence and has happened on Xbox twice. Why do you insist on repeatedly posting the same tripe on multiple threads while continuing to ignore evidence others post?

I don't get this logic. First you complain that Xbox Live, which is a paying service, is a better experience than the free PSN, and then you're annoyed PS4 will require a subscription fee to play online. You seem to be ignoring the fact that the second "issue" exists to alleviate the first one. You can't just say "oh now you have to pay for both but Xbox Live is better so it's a no brainer". PSN will now have a chance to improve and rival Xbox Live, which it couldn't while it was free of charge.

End of the day, Sony had a simple choice: keep it free but inferior to Xbox Live or start charging for it to give it a chance to get at the same level. From the sound of your post, you would've complained equally in either case.

Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback.
If this really was true then it would have been reversed before they even got to E3! They arent listening to fans but sales forecasts, They were banking on dumb customers (fan boys) who accept anything rather than look at what is actually the best product, Didnt happen though.

Make that 3 times.

Microsoft execs' Xbox Live accounts hacked, investigation still underway. posted Mar 20th, 2013 at 9:43 PM
Microsoft has just confirmed that a group of hackers have indeed accessed the Xbox Live accounts of several of its past and present "high-profile" employees. News of the breach was first reported by Ars Technica, which itself had been the victim of a DoS attack this last weekend,

The best part about this isn't that you're repeating the crap about the PS3 update as if Microsoft hasn't bricked 360s on accident.

The best part is that I remember when you were going through a new 360 every couple months. Your comments at the time had a distinctly different viewpoint than they do now.

It's "dedicated servers" all over again.

Honest question as I've never played on an Xbox 360 before, how is online on Live better than PSN?

Because apparently only having voice party chat and instantly inviting your friends to games are the only things that make it "better."

IMO it's a better product. PSN was really a joke to me until they upgraded the store recently. There are the obvious advantages like private/party chat, instant friend invite to games, and cloud storage. But for me it's just the interface that ties it all in. That makes it easily worth the $5 a month for me. My brother and I live in different states, so XBL is how we spend time with each other. If I only had PSN, we couldn't really connect like we do on Xbox.

Hopefully PSN on PS4 gets a major upgrade so both services are equal.

From my experience I always had a solid connection state when using the Xbox over the PS3. Way less disconnects and interruptions, and latency seemed better. The party chat is also a big plus to have.

Some will agree, some will disagree.

A lot of it is down to the experience. I think MS put more thought into it. Things like having a headphone jack built into the controller. Having voice chat work as a layer on top of the entire console experience and being able to arbitrarily do whatever on your system while still maintaining chat. And it's been very stable and consistent for me.

And just to expand on how different the experience is between the Xbox 360 and PS3, I'll use The Last of Us as an example. I got the Survival Edition. It comes with a digital soundtrack code. I redeemed the code and downloaded the 137MB file, which for some reason took forever. The file was a game. It needed to be installed, which took more time. Then I launched the game, which had its own separate installation routine, which ended up just creating a folder of MP3s. It was a mind boggling experience.

The good news is I expect PS4 will bring parity in this department.

I actually preferred the old PSN. IIRC, when they updated it they actually made it so you couldn't filter results by game, which was stupid. I think they've fixed that now though, but I still didn't think the previous version was that bad.

Judging from the other posts I've read from you, you seem like the kind of person that continues on the same ******** bashing of the XB1. This isn't a good day for people that were going to invest in a XB1 but a good day for everyone including PS4 fans. For once, the big dogs listened to the little dogs, the consumers. So stop posting all of this childish ******** on how the XB1 will spy on you because it's simply false.
No it's not. He is 100% correct. That's a Spynect.

Xbox fans must be the most forgiving people on this planet. Do they really believe Microsoft give a slightest crap about the customers? If they really do, why would they bring this pile of dog poop in the first place, and behave like 12 years old, saying stuff like "Don't Internet? Stick with the 360."

No, they did this only to save their own skin.

It's a good idea to think that no company cares about you. They're all in it to make money. The better companies at least understand that treating customers fairly can be good business.

I don't get why it would be too late and that the damage is done. Neither console it out yet, the "war" hasn't started. Pre-orders make up a tiny number overall.

Some people are just disgusted Microsoft would even try this in the first place.

I get that but if they've changed it before the product has even gone on sale I don't see how its too late. What MS did wasn't THAT outrageous, the console gaming world just wasn't ready for it yet. It might not even be the next gen after this upcoming one but some time all consoles will do what they did i'm sure.

I agree with you. Is neither too late nor too soon. The console will be launch in 6 months. I don't know why some people still hate Microsoft. Microsoft made some mistakes, but listened the overall consumers feedback and made some decisions to try make XBOX ONE a better product.
