I dont play on my lap at all, it sucks. I'm thinking of making something to mount it on, for now, I mount it to my little dvd stack thingo box. Oh well, I prefer controller anyway. Wheel is really hard.

i confess... i got fed up with losing all the time and got rid of mc-la :dunce: best thing about the game was the car modding, and i still
have nfs-prostreet which does it better imo

had a result on the trade-in though. i ended up buying mc-la for £20, what with it being preowned and in the sales. i also had £5
worth of points on my GAME card. then they gave me £18 for it when i traded it 👍

ended up with colin mcrae dirt, and tt superbike legends (ps2). both of which seem very good on early indications :D

sorry for going off-topic :)

It's easy, brake and turn in, power slide out, being MC if you can get power sliding right it's still quite fast. However most corners don't even require you to brake. Aside from all that, you chose the GNX which is the worst handling one in the game, try one of the Camaros or the Corvette or Mustangs.

Not to mention the mighty Challenger, the 70 at least has pretty good accel and seem to outcorner your GNX no problem. They don't handle badly, they just take a different style of driving to make the most of them. Same goes for most of the different types of cars on MC.

Trust me, it'll become much easier once you get used to it. I'm controller-illiterate now, I just can't play car games with the controller anymore. :ouch:

I personally can't wait for the new challenge a wheel will throw at me, I should be able to get it this week or next I should hope.

I can't either, my G25 has taken over and that's a good thing. I use the controller on arcade games like this, but I just can't on GT5P.

I mean no offence by this, but how? I don't understand how this game is so difficult, yes you lose races but it's not impossible to win, far from it.

To anyone, why is this game seen as so difficult?

It isn't. Maybe they haven't played MC3

For those wondering how that is, imagine LA, ok? Got that image? Now double the traffic and make your car feel 2 or 3 times as fast so it's practically a blur of lights. Congrats thats MC3 at the top level.

I've never played a MC game before and I find it quite easy, but obviously the game needs to be challenging to give it lasting appeal. I like it when games are challenging, they last alot longer.

You should have kept the Camaro. That got me all the way to the tournament for the Camaro DUB edition. I think it's rep that unlocks the parts. You could probably try out a bike. Look at the color of the dots to see the difficulty of the races. In the main career races, the opponents don't upgrade to match you.

Yeah, I didn't want to say that! The '69 Camaro is obviously an important car in the game, that's why it shows up so early.

How would you drive them? They are slow, have poor handling, and just suck. At least they are true to form though. I can not stand old American cars in the slightest, in games or in real life. If this was a game about drag racing then sure they would be great, but trying to weave through traffic and take 90 degree corners is not something that inspires me to think old American muscle car.

At least the group 3 muscle car are slightly more modern, although I will only buy one if I have to complete something that needs them.

The thing does 175mph, and if you drive it like a rally car, it's really a very fast racer. Yes, it doesn't dart around the road like more modern cars, but there's plenty you can do with it.

I don't know. People seem to expect to be able to win every race. A lot of the tournaments are quite hard to win, but it just increases the sense of achievement in so doing. I'm happy with the difficulty level.

W00t, finally got the million dollar deal. Does it some as a surprise that my garage is already full?:P I haven't driven/modified them all yet though. I did drive the Solstice though, has anyone else driven that? I was stunned, compared to all the other cars in the game this is just about perfect handling, it's sort of a mix between tuner and muscle but I love it. They also gave it an engine sound far better than most 6cyls in the game even, plus I found out you can put the roof up/down any time you like.:dopey: Although if you use a chase view I don't recommend changing the roof position mid-race, it will obscure your vision for a number of seconds.:ouch: I also don't recommend any aftermarket front bumpers, they're all hideous. My Solstice is looking alright though. I also made a Super GT (JGTC) car out of a 3000GT, although I was a little annoyed. The best looking most race-car-like wing is the stock one, and the best looking most race-car-like body kit is the wide body but that's only available with a lip spoiler which wouldn't be a race car at all.:grumpy:

Yep, good ol' MC3. I miss the El Camino, now THAT thing could drift.:P In fact, it COULDN'T grip race so drifting was the only option. At least in MC3 roar was far more effective, and hitting traffic didn't slow you down as much IIRC. I do remember towards the end of the game the cars became so fast and twitchy, and the races so long, it was hard just to finish without damaging out.:D But man, it had a lot more cool cars than the new one does, blame X-Box for their inferior disc space. I also miss the Judge GTO, '57 Chevy and XLR-V.

You can easily turn up the wick to hardest and it really won't be easy then, not even on a Kwaka.

The El Camino was a wickedly fast highway drifter to, easily did 280-300mph in the correct hands.

At least the new DLC has some good cars, but I don't know if I wanna buy it, depends on price.

DLC? What cars are there? Not that it matters, they still haven't given us pre-paid PSN cards down here so I can't pay for anything.:grumpy:

I know there's a 65 GTO and a Chevelle (70 i think) We ALL get a new area for free, the cars are the ones you pay for.

Well in that case I officially hate Sony for not getting pre-paid PSN cards to us, as having a GTO and Chevelle would make my day.

none taken 👍 i don't know, i'm not generally a quitter. i reckon i complete 9/10 games i get

i gave mc-la a good shot, but it just wasn't going to happen for me. i could feel it :)

value for money is very important (more so, in the current climate), so i didn't want to just leave it gathering dust

better for me to get something else, and give someone else a go on mc-la at a bargain price 👍

have fun anyway you guys, see you on a different track somewhere

Don't worry, I've never seen one over here and I also have no way of paying.

Ok thanks anyway. Time to use my friend- Google.

12.12.08

Today we are proud to announce the South Central Upgrade and Content Pack for Midnight Club Los Angeles. This massive downloadable upgrade and content pack will be available early next year for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

The "South Central Upgrade Map" provides players with a whole new area of the city, about one-third the size of the original map, and will be available for free. This area features L.A. landmarks such as Exposition Park, the USC campus, Shrine Auditorium, Crenshaw Plaza, and the L.A. Memorial Coliseum and stretches south to the 105 Freeway. In addition to the free new city area, players will be able to purchase the "South Central Content Pack" which includes new character competitions, races, cars and music available in a single complete package. The new vehicles include a variety of cars and a motorcycle. Also making an appearance for the first time in Midnight Club Los Angeles will be SUVs, a longtime favorite of the series' fans.

"This downloadable content hones in on a very iconic area of Los Angeles," said Jay Panek, Midnight Club Producer at Rockstar San Diego. "'This South Central download features staples of the area, from the landmarks to the types of cars, and we think it really helps enhance the overall L.A. feel we set out to recreate."

For more details on the South Central Upgrade and Content Pack, stay tuned to the official Midnight Club site in the coming weeks.

Yeah I posted this on page 11, its great that they are giving us FREE stuff! although Im interested in what the exact new cars are and whether we can purchase them individually or have to buy the whole pack.

Robin.

Maybe they'll offer us the kind of support that Criterion do to Burnout Paradise.

I damn hope so! See, because a Midnight Club game doesnt come out every year (unlike a certain other racing series *cough) they might feel more obliged to put more effort into it and support it longer because new stuff means more revenue (from people yet to buy the game and from DLC). By offering a balance of free stuff and paid stuff, exactly like Burnout Paradise has people are more willing to stick with it and it will have a longer play life.

I think Burnout should be the benchmark for all game DLC, Criterion really pushed the boat out with that one!

Yeah, unlike Need for Speed (as you have probably read from my thread, this year's version is very rushed and EA have tricked you into buying things, which isn't good. Maybe they shouldn't release a game every year and instead actually focus on how good Midnight Club and Burnout are, then aim to reach the quality of both of those.) Burnout is published by EA but thankfully not developed by them- if I were Criterion I would step out of EA, because they're actually going to try and go up against one of their own companies, which is Criterion, I bet.

If Rockstar decide to dedicate all of their time on building MCLA DLC, then we've got a tough competition between Rockstar and Criterion.

Cause it is:lol:. I agree with the difficulty as it is sometimes hard to win, more realistic but it does get rather hard at the start. Once you get decent cars it is really quite reasonable.

Only thing I'm going to buy on PSN. Ill pay someone and they can put money on my psn:D.

Pay a friend or something with CASH and then they can put money on your PSN for you:).

EDIT: I just realised there is a social club and just realised you can create your own vinyls

One of the problems I had was avoiding the traffic. Sometimes I crashed out almost right before the finish line. Also, the races at night seem worse since you can't see as much and there is more traffic.

What view is everyone else using? I used the cockpit view for everything.
