Mini Cooper Mix-Up Mini Sprint Cup

Has anyone managed a 1:16:XXX at Madrid ? I think it's certainly possible but the second corner has to be properly nailed to get a good lap time there. I did a few laps last night but my splits varied wildly through the second corner. I think I ended up with a 1:17:7 best lap but it wasn't perfect.

But then, generally on this track, I wind up struggling just to finish in last place without a big gap from the 2nd to last place.
Shame because I actually like this track!! I think it's quite fun.
(The reverse, not so much! I remember I once chose the reverse for Monday Fun Racers event I hosted (I think it was with the Mini Cooper too)... and boy oh boy that was pretty lousy. After 2 races, we quickly changed to the regular Madrid Mini the right way round! There were NO objections!! Reverse tracks are generally a bit odd... but Madrid Mini Reverse is quite stinky, and only surpassed in awkwardness by London Reverse. )

By "2nd corner" do you mean the one on the south east of this map?

The one where the curbing on the left side juts out...?
If so, I've never gone through that turn properly in 2 years of playing GT5.
I generally wind up on a 2 wheel ski stunt, and then promptly bang into the wall on the right side exiting.

Yep, I refer to this track as having 3 corners. I don't really know how to approach it best, but a conservative approach loses me about a second so qualifying could go amazing if I nail it or pretty dreadful if I don't and do the thing you described, which happened fairly regularly yesterday.

But, yeah, this track is one of my weakest as well. Deep Forest on the other hand ....

Yes, that seems very true. You can get through there a lot faster if you kind of fly through careening... but it is also easier to wind up slower if you mess it up. So one has to choose... risk messing it up... or be more conservative and potentially not as fast.
Of course better not to careen through there in the race if you've got other cars around. Though I hesitate to say that because that's usually my only opportunity to gain position on this track (attrition)... is because 2 cars messed up that turn!!

Anyway, yes, drivers will only get 2 timed laps for qualifying. So it's kind of a tough decision.

Well, let's put it like this. I did a 17.1, but the middle sector was off 0.2 of my best one.
