Missing feature!?(Update first post)

You could play around with and alter the boost of your turbo in GT1.

I miss the random race creator in GT2 as well, where the AI would tune its cars to your car's performance level.

Something else that's missing (mentioned a couple of times already in other threads), not a "feature" though:

Is it just me, or did the replay camera in GTHD look more... I dunno, active? Does it still follow the car through the tunnel like that?

I always felt those sparks were a bit much... a middle ground between that and what we have would be nice. Definitely need the paint scraping back... just, like in that top video, have to make sure there's no "squares" taken out of the paint work.

Would damage looks like this if they had more time?

(This is from Gran Turismo 5 E3 2009 Trailer)

I think this is the 458 Italia interior view. But GT5 only have one interior color for this car.

It would be nice for players to have an option to choose their interior colors just like the ability to choose the exterior colors for their cars and also having the ability to drive them in convertibles which would be a plus.

TDU2 would be a perfect example...

TDU2's car selection system is pure car porn. Walking around inside the dealership with some sexy music in the background, checking out cars, opening them, sitting in them, turning on the engine, and of course taking them for a test drive. Then buying it, selecting the wheel options, color options and interior options. If only cars in TDU2 weren't so low-res. ;)

There must be many GT5 versions and Test discs about in PD HQ. I would love to see what they left out fully. Example- why in GT5 is there only 1 Cat option insted of the proposed 2 ?

I wonder how the game will look if they had more time and had all these features. Awesome I guess. :)

Exactly! lol I only had the first one which was very awesome with the car selection.

Does anybody remember the Event selection graphic user interface for the demo?

IMO The GUI for the a-spec should have been similar to this. It looks better than the one we have now. It probably got taken out because the game didn't have enough time to finish

While it came from the GT website, some careful analysis of the full-size back then showed it actually was a 'Shop-job: there's no reflections of the other cars in each 500's wheel, for one.

...

I don't remember it being declared a 'shop at any time!
As for the missing reflections, I do remember that being discussed: clearly the game doesn't do recursion in its reflection maps; very few games actually do.

This is and always has been the case in GT. The reflections are environment mapping, you never see reflections of other cars.

Forza is actually better in this respect.

Not even Forza does.

And when they first talked about Gran Turismo HD they said it would contain motorbikes too.

Yes, but GT:HD, as it was originally envisioned, was an entirely different concept meant to tide us over before GT5. It would (maybe) have used the bikes from TT, so "Standards".

GT:HD (the game) was scrapped, and a limited demo by the same name was released instead.

Is there some feature that was in older GT games that you want in GT5, Like mileage meter on the HUD. It's not necessary important, but fun to have.

I want the display, which is on the left side on the dashboard of the McLaren MP4-12c, in every car. The display shows total mileage, trip meter and has a clock that shows the time of the track you're on (and yes, it changes with day/night transition). And no, the odometer does not reset if you do not finish a race, or if you just do some free driving. Every 100 meter you drive in that car, regardless of how and when you do it, counts.

I don't remember it being declared a 'shop at any time!

It a very easy thing technically to implement full reflections on any "shiny" object. The problem is the it raises the processor demands quite drastically, which is probably why it's not been implemented. The PS3 struggles more than enough with the game as it is already. Same reason why rear view mirrors are of substantially lower quality than the main view.

About the FIAT 500 image, I don't recall that picture being used to promote photomode, wasn't it just meant to showcase the particular car? I know I haven't heard about being able to use several cars in photomode at the same time...

That definitely was a race modified Mini, could be seen in several colors. I'm sad it's not in the game too, it looked like a cool Mini Challenge Replacement.

The damage modeling was better (cars got damaged quicker) in some earlier demos too.

Wait, is it just me, or is the track different than in GT5? before the bridge there isn't a little straigth anymore, and before the tunnel there aren't some little curves. Am I right?

Yes you are right. The GT:HD circuit is closer to the real footpath that exists than the circuit that features in Prologue and GT5. Search for Eiger, Grindelwald, Switzerland on Google Earth or Maps and to the left of the mountain is the location of the track. You can clearly see the curves from that video on the footpath as well as the last corner (but the tunnel and bridge are non existant IRL).

One thing that you can do in GT5p is that you can drive the Ferrari F1 car against others cars,

One thing I missed from gt3 and 4, was the replay camera options. You could change it to focus in between two or more battling cars, and the camera would zoom out to get a more "general race" look. I loved that. Gt5 cameras are still good, but that piece of the puzzle was gold lining.

Yep that's in my GT6 wishlist

How do you do that in GT4?

I no longer have a ps2, but I'm pretty sure you can pause a replay and go into a Replay options, they aren't very explained or detailed, but you can choose between different pictures in the options, one with a Single car (camera sticks to selected driver), two cars (focuses on multiple cars) and i think like 2 others i don't remember.
