I believe I speak for most people here when I say, you're quite ignorant. Japanese cars have not and never will "suck". Thier reliability exceeds US, EU, and AU motor vehicles--and that's a fact. Any time spent outside of your little box of a short life would enlighten you of that fact. Thier designs are not bland and certainly not boring--there are much worse US and EU designed cars that could easily be worse than even the ugliest Japanese car. None of thier engines are boring or "gutless"--Japanese 4cyl engines can easily be faster factory spec than any US or EU V6 and even some V8's. And the EVO 7 wasn't bad, the front grille of the 8 makes it the worst EVO yet.

*Edited to seem less insulting*

Japanese cars sucked when they were making bad copies of american cars.

My favourite reasonable car is actually japanese whioch is the Evo series and I also love the supra and the gtr so my opinion isnt laced with anything nasty as I loved those cars. I think its the love of those cars and how good they were that is making me dislike the newer versions which dont really live up to the name as such in that they dont seem to be moving on the game.

Straight 6 inline M3 engine pumps out more power than the 350z and that engine is rather dated now. I thought the japanese were at the fore front with technology but it seems like the germans are taking over going by recent developments.

Anyone want to inform him of the Gentlemen's Agreement? I can't be bothered doing it again.

i know all about the gentlemans agreement since ive been like 12.

Let me elaborate on what I have been saying. The engines that they are putting in japanese cars now have nowhere the same tuning potential as the old ones.

You're talking about an engine thats used in a singular model that costs upwards of $45k. But the VQ35, while not meeting the total spec of the S54 in the M3, is a great engine. Not only is it in the Z with 300hp, but its in sedans, and SUVs as well.

Name me one other sports car on sale today that has 300hp and only costs $27k. The STi is close, but those go for over $5k more. The Z might not be the top sports car out there. But, what you get for the $$$ is pretty damn good.

So, sure the M3 engine is great. But that car cost almost twice as much as a Z, so thats not much of an accomplishment. Thats like saying the M5's V10 puts the M3's I6 to shame. Its a better engine for a higher spec car.

The engines actaully been used in two models. Z costs 30k for us poor ripped off english folks and well you can pick up a E46 M3 for that.

And the 350 only has two seats. Oh and the entry level TVR I think is a bit more than the 350 but has also got more power. Dont gem me wrong ifthe 350z had 4 ot 5 seats then Id conisder on in the next couple of years.

The engines out now have just as much, if not more, tuning potential than the engines we used to get. For example, a simple ECU reflash with some bolt-ons for an Acura RSX-S can get you almost 40hp. You'd never get that with the old B18C. That was a great engine, but the new K-series is much better. And, the VQ35 that you talked about earlier, is just as good as well. Even without turbos, it puts out just as much power as the old twin turbo VG30 in the 300ZX. Those are just a couple examples, but not rare. Old engines are great, and have lots of potential. But, engines now are much better.

Wow, an Evo that doesn't make me Nauseous, and a new Skyline that makes me wish they were only as ugly as the R34's.

I'm speechless.

So only a couple of months then?

Or a Ferrari 348/355. Apples. Pears.

I count one. The M3. I don't consider the M-Coupe any different, if thats the other you speak of. Either way, thats only 2. The VQ35 is used in at least 9 by my quick count. Thats 9 different vehicles that the engine had to be tuned and spec'd for use. The S54, on the other hand, was only going in M3s. Its a lot easier to make a high-spec engine when its only going in one car.

New??? I'm talking new cars here. You can get alot of things cheap used. But new, no matter where you live, the Z is cheaper than the M3. Current UK prices are 25.5k starting for the Z, and 41.8K for the M3. So, even over in your neck of the woods, the Z is still 16k less.

Thats the Infiniti G35. Or, as its called in Japan, the Nissan Skyline 350GT. Uses the same FM chassis as the Z, just with 4-doors and seats 5. They do make the car you want.

The front end is so pissed looking, I love cars that look like that! Although its more likely to be the next gen evo, everytime i see that front end, the words "Galant VR-4" Screams into my head.....

I agree the front is very nice, but the Galant VR-4 was a rather plain little thing...

I believe he was talking about later generations (late nineties) of the VR-4 (in fact I think that's still the model sold in Japan).

Not a bad thing though, I'm hoping that this becomes standard Mitsu design language (I hate the current direction with that weird triangle in the grille).

It definitely has some of that. I was thinking of that same VR4. They still sell them here as run-out models (the Galant, but not the VR4 model).

Ahh, now I see the similarity.

I wasn't even aware VR-4s existed beyond the '91s and '92s we got here.

Those later generation twin turbo VR-4s, like so many sweet JDM rides, sadly never made it to the states. The Mitsu 6a12 engine is a beast with proper tuning, the best I've seen was on my friends 7G Galant with an Evo 6 intercooler and a Blitz GF-R34 exhaust meant for a Skyline, had so much torque that the running gear had to be replaced with parts from an Eclipse. Any Filipinos reading this should know what car I'm talking about.

[EDIT] Just read somewhere that the Evo X will run on a new all-aluminum 2.0 MIVEC engine! OMG, I can't beleive they're retiring the good old 4G63! Another legendary JDM engine (one I have good memories of, from my old Galant) is leaving us!

to me it looks like a new dodge charger did the nasty with a mazda 6 and this is what came out.

i just dont like the front. the sides look like the rx-8. the rear looks good though.those taillight lenss are ugly though.

i dont see why they need to go to a new platform though. the evo 7-9 was already ugly enough i was just starting to like it.

then again i guess a guy that likes the evo 1-3 the most wont ever like the rest.

I don't like it at all, this (photoshop or sth like that)-pic is much nicer.
The real concept looks like somy Hyundai ...meh ... not my thing

YEAH  👍

Ugh... It looks like it's trying to vomit. "I ate too many civics, get me some tums"

BlazinXtreme
A Civic doesn't stand a snow balls chance in hell against an EVO.

You're forgetting one thing. Adding a Type R sticker to any Honda gives you a power increase of 125%.

Add a F&F sticker, and it goes up another 40%.

I understand it perfectly...Civics are econoboxes that are reliable and get uber mileage, the EVO is a rally car made for the road.
