I make apology to Jones, because I accidentally dive-bombed him on that sharp turn. :ouch:
I immediately backed off, and did not attempt to pass. It was embarrassing for me especially since he was in the Skyline. :guilty:
A more devious host would avoid scheduling races on tracks they stink at as much as I stink at SSR5.

Also, my condolences to Chiochan getting the Skyline on Autumn Mini in the rain. :ill: Bad luck of the draw that! (Great photomodes though! :sly:)

There were questions raised about this race, but so far as I know, all the rough stuff & collisions were due to unfortunate lag that occurred.
Also, I was a bit disoriented at the start of the race, being confused about what track we were on. I set the track to Cape Ring South, when Cape Ring Inside was the scheduled track. Sorry about that. Ironically I'm far better at Cape Ring Inside, so I really stuck it to myself!
One driver resigned from the race early after appropriately pulling off track, reporting they needed to leave due to Real Life. (Boo Real Life!)

  9. HusamOne (HusamOne) Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70
  10. Kavey (AsamKV) Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale '63
DQ - Kavey (AsamKV) - incorrect car :boggled:
Also, I apologize for getting annoyed with daddyo845 in the lobby when I thought he dive bombed on the last turn. :guilty: My accusation was unfounded. The replay shows that daddyo845 had substantial overlap before the turn-in point, and I should've given him more room (had I known).
NOTE: Do not depend solely on the side indicator! I have been noticing false positives, and now possibly a false negative. *sigh*

Race #8: 5 laps @ Indy Super Speedway

  8. Kavey (AsamKV) Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70
  9. Schmiggz (schmiggz) Honda 1300 Coupe 9 S '70

Overall, I'm generally pleased with how the list worked out.
Interesting mix with the various cars on different tracks (some better than others on some tracks! lol)
Though clearly some drivers make the Marcos go faster than I'm able to. :boggled:
And we stayed pretty much on time. (So I'm definitely getting warmer with that.)

PSN played up for me last night mid session - on race #5 I got booted from PSN right at the race start, and when I rejoined it seemed a bunch of others also lost connection too as I could only see 6 in the race. Once I was back in for the next race with the Spider I only saw 7 racers in race #6, to which from my view of the game I came 6th, hence why I was in the Guilia for race #7.

It's only after that race someone mentioned there were two Guilias and LongbowX mentioned I seemed to be ghosting into another driver on Matterhorn, so clearly some issues with PSN methinks last night.

Not a big deal just a bit of fun so not worried about the ranking/scores, just an explanation as I'm a stickler for the rules :)

However a bit of a steward's enquiry needed on Autumn Ring - I was holding lead most of the race until LeoStrop decided to try to overtake me with a gain speed of 1mph in the wet with a very agressive inside cut through the octogon section when I clearly had the line - this span me out dropping me to 7th.

To be fair, LeoStrop pulled off after this and pitted, but the initial aggression was a bit much really - it's only a bit of fun but seemed a tad excessive to try to cut inside with no real chance of passing without a deliberate push/bounce.

Otherwise, barring PSN issues, a great event, thanks Watermelon!

Nah it doesn't get very cold, hence it has never snowed here before. There is a lot of rainfall though during winter, and a high humid environment at times.
So is it more like you have a warm dry season and a wet season?

Are all the cars for tonight available to buy in the dealerships? If so, and if I can get it sorted by 7pm, I'd like to join in tonight. My PSN name is gazleton.

Hi ,
All the cars are available at the dealership , we're driving the vintage car list today , cars are listed in the first post ! Please read the rules and race procedures carefully !
The Queen Melon will response , but I think there will be a free Place in the grid !
See you on Track

AH!!!!
That makes more sense.

Sorry for the confusion! That stinks!

I also think that there's been more lag/connection problems the past few days than we normally have. 👎 I think maybe there's been some issue on PSN the past few days.

Also note that I'm often INSIDE the settings screen between races in addition to going into my own garage to find MY next car, taking pics of the results screens, saving replays, checking tires, trying to check car assignments, making announcements, and informing newcomers.

What this means is that SOMETIMES I MISS PARTS OF THE CONVERSATION IN CHAT.

I try to catch up reading on the left there, but sometimes the chatbox goes quickly, and by the time I get out of the settings screen, there has been conversation I've missed.
I know that this happens because OFTEN in the forum, I hear about conversations that took place in the lobby while I was there, and I didn't see them. :dopey: And it's likely because I'm busy doing other things.

Obviously, I don't want to discourage chatting between races because it's normal and fun to discuss the races and such. We don't want to make it all-business like & boring.
But as such, there's going to be times that important stuff can be missed at times.

So if someone asks a question, and I don't respond... assume I didn't see the question, and someone repeat it or someone else answer it if they can. 👍

I really appreciate that @LongbowX @KingKlingeling @Handlebar & @daddyo845 have stepped up to the plate to answer questions & help sort out car assignment confusion in the lobbies. 👍

Okay so here's the thing... We can prevent this kind of confusion, even in the unfortunate circumstances of missing invisible cars in the race.

Everyone check their own car, AND the person who finished in front of you in the previous race.

Then everybody check to make sure there's NOT more than 1 of each car.

In any race, there should ONLY be 1 of each car unless:
  • Newcomer(s) joined the room and will also use the Alfa Spider 66
  • There are more than 14 drivers in the room racing, and up to 3 might use the Miata in a full room
So, other than the Spider and the Miata, there should NEVER be more than 1 of each car on track in a race.

Yes I think I saw what you're talking about in the replay.
But during the race, I saw @LeoStrop go flying across the track and then his car disappeared, so I assumed he had been disconnected during the race, and may have been having lag problems IN ADDITION to wet track problems. :scared:

(That's the ONLY reason that a car should disappear from track, btw. To quit a race deliberately, you should always either pit - or pull off track if not in front of other cars.)

If he had finished the race, I may have looked closer into that incident.
I would've also looked closer into the incident, had I received a report after the racing.

Also: ALWAYS FEEL FREE TO REPORT RACE INCIDENTS immediately after the race.
If you think I should see something in a replay.
EVEN IF IT IS NOT LIKELY A PENALTY OFFENSE.
I'd like to know about all crashes in races, in general. 👍
(Partly because I enjoy watching them in the replays. :mischievous: )

And again, always make these reports on the forum (in private message "conversation" is preferable if there are questions about someone's driving manners), as like I said, I'm likely to not see the report in the lobby, and if I do, I may forget by the time the event is over! (My memory is not as good as it was 20 years ago. :ouch:)

I'm definitely not going to be able to make it for 7pm so I'll pull out now to give someone else a chance. I'd like to put my name in for Saturday instead. Sorry if this causes any problems.

@Kavey , sorry for that, if i remember i was not trying to pass you, but doing my line i was exiting on throttle trying to control that crazy rear, and in that moment you decelerate and i didn't had time to stop. I was immediately off throttle just hoping you could control that celica! lol

Yeah and after a few corners i got disconnected, and completely forgot about that incident.:boggled:

No problems.
Also, you can always arrive late or leave early. Just an FYI. 👍

We are not at capacity yet for any of the scheduled events.

Really? I think gt6 has only froze my system once. I'm not even 100% sure that it did freeze because of gt6. I wonder if it depends on what type of ps3 you have. I'm not sure what gen mine is but it's not shiny. It has buttons to eject the disc and turn on and off. There is no switch on the back of the ps3 to switch off all power.

Hey guys it was fun and I'm sorry for that one thing on nurburgring gpd. I'm kind of claustrophobic when it comes to racing. When I'm surrounded by cars I make one wrong move and bump somebody. I use a dual shock controller so it's more difficult to make sure your steady, and more difficult to hold my line in a turn because sometimes I have to tap the stick and its not one smooth motion like with a wheel so I have inconsistencies in my turning.

Also this has no relevance and it doesn't even belong on this forum at all, but I think you guys might be interested in it. Yesterday there was a very large solar flare. This is supposed to cause those who live at a lower latitude than normal to see the northern lights. I'm pretty sure New York and probably Pennsylvania to it. Those who are in the northern hemisphere may be able to see it also. You should be able to be seen at 8:00pm eastern standard time. I can't make any promises though

Good races everybody. :)

Sorry about the kooky start.
Though to be honest I waited to long to try to boot up. I usually turn it on sooner and make sure things are plugged in correctly. I was plugging in wires, and then sat back down to wait for the ps3 to boot. It didn't even open up the game yet.
And you don't know until it's awhile.
But yeah, it's definitely something funky since I got GT6. Far more freezes with no seeming reason.
My ps3 is from March 2011. I don't know what that makes it.
I just wish it didn't have to go through that system file check every time it freezes.
And you wait, and you wait, and you wait.

I'll post results later.
And eventually photomodes.
