I love GT class racing, but I'm very reluctant to enter a series or a league, mainly because of two things: the commitment (timing wise) and my useless internet connection which can drop the line 100 times in day and gets bouts of low bandwidth and high ping (I was more of an online gamer a few years back). I think it's really cool that you guys go for it though :)

Just out of interest, do you find cross continental pings times to be an issue in online racing?

Edit: Sorry, I'm contributing to the OT even though I tried to warn about in my message above :embarrassed:
I think the time would be, 5 hours ahead for you on Sunday. Qualifying starts at, 1 15pm on Sunday est. It could be 6 15pm stsrt for you. Your connection issue, could be a few reasons. Are you using wifi (can you get your internet modem closer to your ps4)? Another thing, try and hard wire your ps4 to your router. Your ping may not be a problem

I've raced in series with people from all over Eirope and I'm in the states. The only problems are when some one has a slow connection. If everyone has a decent connection there isn't any problems.

I live in the middle of nowhere at the very end of the last branch of barely working ADSL :(

Oh, and I run pCARS on PC, so... Perhaps it would be an idea to put PS4 in the thread title?

Currently we have these wear and tear options in multiplayer:

* Damage: Off, Visual Only, Performance Impacting, Full Damage

* Mechanical failures: Yes, No

* Tyre wear: Off, Slow, Real, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7

* Fuel usage: Off, Slow, Real

Out of the options above what will we be running? With it being a new game/SIM and the first series do we ant to run full damage? i would say Mechanical failures: No, Tyre and Fuel Real, just not sure about the damage.

What are the thoughts on this?

I agree with damage and fuel, but I'd wait to see what tire wear is like and it depends on the tire compound we use. From what I've seen tire wear seems to be minimal on softs, but I think I saw somewhere that tire wear is currently being fine tuned.

Personally I say full damage. But that's me. Or we could say first three races visual only then go full damage. Gives us a chance to get use to racing with each other. What about you guys?

David I'm all for full damage right from the start. I Just want to give everyone else time to get use to the game. I don't work so I'll be living on it.

I agree because we really dont know how sensitive the damage physics are. Rubbing is racing and i would hate to lightly bump someone and have there wheels fly off or something. What videos I've seen, I think we will be ok. We all can do some testing with this once the game is released. So now that they have gone gold, we should have a solid release date soon. ;) 👍

Full damage can cause some trouble because it is very easy to ruin some elses race for example while overtaking. This is very very frustrating. I would go for visual only for the beginning, when we raced a few times and everyone races as clean as I hope we can change this.

Tire/Fuel should be on, mechanical damage should be turned on for one simple reason: If you tune your car and close the (break)cooler opening you are faster (better aero) but there is the danger of overheating your car/breakes if mechanial damage is turned on.

Everyone just has to remember you can't win a race in turn one, but you certainly can lose it.

I've just seen this thread, looks like there are still some spaces left for sign ups?

Any ideas on the date for the first race? Also is this going to be a weekly thing?

Hi and welcome, I believe that the first race will be 2 or 3 weeks after the game is released. Races will be held on Sundays at 2pm eest . With qualifying at 1:30. For more information please read the opening post by Stalliono.

Haha you beat me to it. We must have been typing at the same time. I'm at work that's why I'm up. I've been swinging shifts training.

You know, I think we should create a youtube account and record are races every week like the Gentlemens Club does. Well atleast Yorkie 065 puts it on his page. Im learning how to use the editing software on ps4 now. If anyone is good at that maybe you could give me some ideas.

I have a capture card and already planned to record the races.
Here is a race in Drive Club. I recorded off the PS4 before I got the card.

Yeah I was thinking the same, I've done it before (on a gta 5 endurance race of all things). What I did was double tap the share button to start recording at the start of the race, which lasts for 15 minutes. Once it ends you get a notification that it's ended and the clip will automatically save without you having to do anything else, and you can double tap the share button again to start a new 15 minute clip.

Share factory only let's you make 20 minute clips, so as this is a longer race you will either have to make a highlights video (what I did for the gta race vid and what I'm probably going to do here) or just upload the whole race into multiple clips.

With the gta race even though it only lasted 45 minutes, I found that I had to cut a bit more than I would have liked to fit it into 20 minutes, so if you go down the highlights route you might have to do two videos anyway.

What I'm hoping for is that within Project Cars is that the game will save the whole race to replay (Forza 4 did this) Then use my capture card and save the replay to my pc for editing. I can also add commentary if needed.

It is currently possible to save the replay on the pc version. Don't know about the consoles.

Hopefully the game itself can save the whole race and then use the capture card to pc and edit. Yep that will be the best way MrMattAdz and bethany. We can play with the idea after it releases. Man I'm hyped.

I highly suggest at least a couple of pre-season, warm up, non-points races to iron out the bugs in race organization and figure out how the tire wear, damage, weather etc. is all going to play out, along with figuring out all the ins and outs of racing together.
