Wait does this mean can tone-down the 'reflections'

Always baffled me how much I cherish GT1 but 2 reflections are such forced such crap to me ={

Progress for today - scaling is sorted and reflections are fixed:

I can write out a shadow mesh too, but still working on reading GT1's shadow properly as it's in quite a different format.

@mistamontiel don't think we can tone down reflections through models really, as gt2 just works with them differently than gt1, bit it's been possible for a long while to edit the reflection maps themselves. If you check my videos for the past... year or 2, i've lowered the brightness of the day and dusk maps by 50% and it looks much better imo

Is this the GT1's NSX-R GT1 Turbo?

Yep, ported over for the first time. I've made a bit more progress since then too, adding a shadow from one of the GT2 NSXes and an accurate set of wheels, as neither of those is practical to convert from GT1.

Now that the process is working well, I'll probably try out a few other GT1 models which will be useful for the next version of the mod.

Nice, just don't forget to fix the GT300 and GT500 championships bug that counts our overall result as 6th place, even if winning all the races. That prevents 100% completion afaik.
This bug didn't happen on GT World League.

You say that like I know why that happens and have been given enough information to reproduce the bug. There are enough 100% complete savegames out there that it mustn't happen every time?

The physics, engine data ecc.. will be taken off directly from Gran Turismo 1. Same with the other cars ported from Gran Turismo 1 to Gran Turismo 2.

Nonsense! Played many times, but never faced a similar bug in this game.

thank you for your work .. apart from advising you there is little I can do but one thing I wondered and never said is the following _ could we ever race on dirt tracks against more opponents? .. like adding to special events of competitions with rally circuits .. in my opinion they are wasted only for a 1vs1 and gt2 has unexpressed potential from this point of view, don't you think too? adding 1vs 5 circuits in off-road racing would be a great thing ..

always on this theme why not also add some endurance type in red rock or even in tahiti or grindelwald (or dirt tracks ?????) .. maybe add prize cars at the end instead of going to buy them easily ..

I guess it's hard work but this idea of mine comes from a hilarious video seen on youtube where one even competes in the slalom course in a short circuit license .. so in theory I thought there are the possibilities to do it right?

I repeat - in my opinion gt2 has still untapped potential

hei pez2k

been playing through with your "complete version" (and obviously loving it so far) and noticed something that is missing although it's on the change list.

The Golf V6, now 4wd and 201hp, still doesn't have the description found on the other MKIV Golfs.

by the way, really nice touch to put as prize cars the special color variant of each model on specific model race events (if available).

Hello, will the Honda NSX-R GT1 Turbo have a turbocharged or naturally aspirated engine like the rest of the NSX's?

It will be turbocharged like it is in GT1 - as SuperFrizzio says above it'll all be as close of a recreation as possible of the car in GT1.

could we ever race on dirt tracks against more opponents?
...

I don't know how many grid slots the dirt tracks have and I've never looked into it as it's outside the scope of this mod.

Adding entirely new events seems to not be possible, and this mod won't ever include redesigns of existing events. All of my tools are available though if someone else wanted to make different endurance races.

I'll make a note of that - the descriptions are a real pain as each language has different descriptions either available or missing.

of course, it's perfectly normal and doesn't detract at all from the experience. Just something i noticed.

another thing i noticed that could be fixed on a future release is the different tuning potential
of the Citroen Saxo 1.6i VTS vs the Peugeot 106 1.6i S16/GTI.

Although they aren't simple rebadges IRL, as they feature different bodywork and interiors, they are mechanically identical. Weight differecent from 935 to 960kg was mostly due to the Peugeot coming standard with part leather interiors.
they both come with the TU5J4 120hp engine, and all mechanical parts (including suspension, direction, braking, are interchangeable).

i think the lower Peugeot 106 tuning potential is more realistic and shuld be copied to the Saxo.

Most dirt tracks can handle 6 cars on the track since they have the grid spots, however the issue is with the AI lines as they don't overtake (and Pikes Peak has an issue where the AI would spin out at one point):

i forget the specs of the 106 and Saxo maxxed out in gt2, but as long as they match the Maxi/S1600 specs then i'm happy. And that's what i'll be going for for most car retune i go through in the future.

will we ever get a renault 5 rally?

To reiterate what I've said before, I won't be adding random new cars to this mod. Just restoring all of the cut content goes past the maximum number of cars the game can support, so even if I wanted to change focus there's no space to. This isn't really the place for car requests unless they were in GT1 or GT2 at some point.

Thanks to pez2k and his fellow coders for this great mod.
Personally i couldn't imagine go back to Gran Turismo 2 and do retro races and licenses. :D

I had much fun in the last couple of days and i think this will still hold on for a while.

Back in my active days as "online racer" i used a NeGcon. Is there a fellow NeGcon user who managed to
connect this device to work with this mod? If so, please enlighten me; i think my addiction will reach the level back
in the good ol' days.

Another idea of mine came while i did some licenses. We all know the times differ sometimes with the version you use.
Is there a chance to include one time table for all versions with the fastest license time from the different versions? :scared:
This will give me another go for all Gold in the license without consulting the license time table to ensure the gold is also gold
in the other two versions.

Would be great but not neccesary; i do enjoy the mod enough to keep me playing.

Thanks again to all of you guys doing a great job!!👍

I know for sure that the US version is the easiest to get licenses, the EU version has tougher times on many tracks.

ok pez at most I will write some ******** in "modding and restoration", however I wanted to know the red nsx you posted above is the same graphically improved honda that you have already put in the patch or is it another type of honda nsx? thanks for the work on silvia in the meantime

LM GT2 =/= GT1 Turbo. 2 different cars with different specs. Although in GT1, it ended up being the LM GT2 on PAL and USA, and the GT1 Turbo on JP.

Is there a chance to include one time table for all versions with the fastest license time from the different versions?

I can't remember if there are any license ghosts or demo replays, but if there are they'll not be compatible between regions due to the 50 / 60Hz difference. It's probably possible to compile a hardest set of times, I've just never looked into it as I'm not sure on any changes that will make the game easier or harder.

It's the NSX GT1 Turbo from the Japanese version of GT1. The PAL and US versions of GT1 had the NSX-R LM GT2 instead, which is what's in GT2+ already, based on an unused Acura NSX RM model. The Turbo has something like 70hp more than the LM GT2, so it's a bit different to drive. See this post earlier in the thread for the visual differences.
