I was thinking about this last night...I'm confused about the two separate classes of cars. Are you going to be running two completely separate classes (pro and pro-am), or are we all competing against each other in one class, with the "pro am" cars having the option of using cm's, while the "pro" class cars are restricted to ch?

K that's what I thought, thanks for clarifying.

This should be somewhat interesting...I see a few cars on the pro-am lost that, when pared with cm tires, are going to be scary fast. I also don't really understand how all these people using CH on S-chassis and other low HP cars plan on keeping up with fully tuned M5s, or M3 GTRs.

Its all in the tuning. I have a 400hp Standard Z with CH that will keep up with Z06's and vipers. But it also only weighs 1028kg... But for this particular comp it will be running wide open at 514 hp..

Oh I know it's all in the tuning...but there's a few cars, namely the 350Z, 300ZX, GS300, SC430, '00 Camaro...that's all I can think of right now...but those cars can all make close to or more than the 575hp limit, and when paired with cm tires, a good tune and good driver, will be scary fast.

Also, looking at the two lists, why is the Pontiac GTO a pro-am car, but the Holden Monaro is a pro car....aren't they essentially the same car?

These list comes from VDC. I took the Pro AM list and the Pro list and copied and pasted it.

I forgot to add the Holden to the pro am and the gto to the pro list. If you registered with a gto I'll accept a monaro.

I thought the list looked familiar :P.

But here's my issue with the list...in VDC, pro-am drivers/cars DO NOT compete against pro drivers/cars. I have a funny feeling that a lot of people are misunderstanding the rules of this Motegi comp...I think people think there is going to be two classes, which are independent of one another - when actually (according to your above post), everyone will be competing against one another, irregardless of which "class" your car comes from. If I understand correctly, the only reason you have the two lists of cars is to indicate which cars are allowed to use CM or CH tires, and which cars are restricted to using just CH tires.

Perhaps it is just the wording you have used? Instead of taking the titles "pro" and "pro-am" directly from VDC, could you maybe call the two car lists something different....perhaps "CM eligible" and "non CM eligible"?

I'm just failing to see how 425hp Silvias on CH tires are going to compete against a 500hp CSL/GT-R, or 575hp M5. I also am very unsure that anyone will be able to keep up to a 575hp 300ZX/350Z/Camaro/GTO/SC430/GS300 on CM tires.

I appreciate what you are trying to do here....using CM tires to broaden the spectrum of cars that can compete against one another. But I think the car lists need to be revised slightly. The whole point of this exercise is to make more cars viable for comps...but as things stand right now, by using CM tires to make a couple more cars competitive, you're actually making a larger group of cars uncompetitive.

Perhaps a solution is lowering the HP limit for those cars eligible to use CM tires??

Couple more questions:

-Are cars that are eligible for CM tires allowed to mix tires (ie CH front, CM back), or do they have to use CM front and back?

-Are CM cars allowed to switch back and forth between using CM and CH between each round of the tandem bracket, or will they be forced to use the same tire throughout the whole comp?

I have asked some of these questions. when mixing tires caramel said CM's upfront gave to much grip and allowed a unfair advantage to maintain more angle. And as fair as changing between rounds you can change tires to help keep tandems tighter when using similar speed matched cars.

Caramel: I have decided to switch cars

Fastfox400
Car: Pontiac GTO
Tires: CM :)

I fully understand what you are saying twitch, and great to bring the point up. I'll be having a look at these cars. I also understand the power rule. I may just say everything can run CM's under 475hp and 575hp is the overall limit. That may be better. Idk. I'll have to check some of the faster cars.

^^^see, Fox is already all over that! I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people start changing up their cars lol (your's truely included :sly:)

I think a lower HP limit for the CM cars could work....the only issue is there is no way to enforce it, or to even be able to tell if people are breaking the limit. You'd have to have the room limit set to 575, but there's nothing stopping CM users from cranking the power above 475. I would hope that an honor system would work...but people are people, and we all like to win....not saying I, or anyone else, would cheat...but the thought certainly crossed my mind lol.

Edit: forgot this part lol

So, according to Fox's post, tire mixing is not allowed?? Just want to clarify this point.

And changing tires between rounds is allowed? Personally, I'm no sure if I like that, as it gives the CM cars an extra option to slow themselves down if they know they will be tandeming a slower car. A person driving a Corvette has to work hard to drift slow behind an AE86, someone driving a 575hp SC430 on CMs shouldn't get an easy-mode way of slowing down their car. That's just my opinion though...I'll still drive no matter what the rules lol.

If your car is CM eligible, then you may mix tires.

And, you qualify on the tires you battle with.

Twitch. If a car runs CM's and is forced to 475hp, It will be so fast because of the decrease in wheelspin it will actually make things 10x harder. Having the Extra power will actually slow it down.

Caramel if thats the case with tires versus hp you going to see all vipers and vettes. It would be hard to keep up with a 475 hp Z06 on CM. It would preactically be a run away.

This comp is going to crazy stupid but a lot of fun ha ha.I think it's best to put the people from pro am on cm up against the pro class cars first.

A Z06 can't use CM tires Fox. It's on the list of cars that can use CH tires only.

I understand that by lowering the HP on a car, you can actually make it faster, but I don't understand the point you're trying to make. According to the rules now, there's nothing stopping you from building a 475hp GTO on CM tires...which will be very fast. In fact, there is no way from stopping any competitor from lowering their HP (my 370GT only makes 491...). You can't force people to make 575hp....

Caramel said anything under 475hp could use CM's. As hp gets closer to 450hp the cars pic up speed. Caramel has seen my Z that I wanted to use. On CH @ 393hp it is able to maintian a solid pace with pro cars.

Where did he say anything under 475 could use CM??? Only cars from the "Pro-Am" list can use CM tires. Cars on the "Pro" list MUST use CH tires, no matter what HP they are running.

Caramel, I think you need to rewrite a few sections of the the OP to clarify all this tire business, as there is clearly quite a bit of confusion.

I cmpletely agree.

Took you a while Gauz.

But At the moment, the Pro/pro am list is what we will be running. I said that could be a sugggestion. I'd have to look into it. I also understand some cars are a little to fast on CM's and I'll be weeding those out this week/weekend. These are great points to bring up. If someone is ungodly fast on CM's for the first round, then I'll know that this car is a "pro" car in terms of tires. There is no reason to argue about a tire choice. It's going to be fun, but it is still an experiment at it's core. One for me running a comp and two for me to get a set list of CH and CM cars for my next comp, and comps after.

Sounds good Caramel. I think the lists are pretty close to being good, there's just a few cars on the pro-am list that should be moved to the pro list (I'm quite sure you'll discover this quickly in your testing).

Sorry Fox, you were correct. I missed Car's post where he said anything under 475 can use CM. I agree with you, that would be a horrible idea. 475hp vette, viper, ISF, SS '10 etc etc would run away from the competition.

As to why I figured that was a dumb idea. haha. But I've got ish to do. So, if anyone is on and has a questionable car, please send me a message saying you would like to help me out on "testing" these cars out. Also, you'll get a first look at Round 5, which is going to be nuts.

Qualifying starts this Wednesday.

Just message me when you are ready to qualify. I guess I'll be the only one judging due to the fact no one actually came up (other than competitors) and said they'd want to judge.

If you are not signed up, you can still join, I'll add you to the list.

Some cars are being moved from CM to the CH list. Watch the list on Monday. All changes for this round will be found there.
