Hello fellas,
as customary, here is my replay from the Spa race:
Applause to everyone showing up, because we have a full room! 👍 However, this means I can only join qualifying with 8min to go and it's very tight to produce a decent quali lap. I end up in 6th position on the grid.
@Antares87 gets a flyer and shots past me before Eau Rouge. In front,
@lancerevoo and
@Napalm_LT lock wheels and the latter is send tumbling into the bushes. Boy am I glad this is sim racing, because the crash looks horrendous
As a result, I can shoot past a recovering
@lancerevoo.
Now, the field barrels down the Kemmel "straight" and I see
@Antares87 go off track momentarily approaching Les Combes. I drive to the right side of the track, but when he rejoins his car drifts across the road and comes closer and closer until there is no space anymore. We touch but are saved by the wall as well as sheer luck, as this happens: Behind us,
@Jakeysnakey is caught out by our coming together, swerves to the left side of the corner and is collected by
@lancerevoo. This sends him into the track barrier literally centimeters in front of me and I can see his Lotus somersaulting in my rear view mirror. I exhale audibly: "Don't worry, just a sim, nobody got hurt"
Now it's a threeway fight for 3rd position as we race through the fast right hander of Burnenville. Any contact at these speeds is fatal, which is proven when
@lancerevoo goes for a gap that might not have been there and touches
@Antares87 left right wheel with his front left, who hits the guard rail hard. Another racer "killed", and the first lap isn't even half over yet...
In front,
@richroo has a moment, but manages to catch the car skillfully. As a result, I'm right in his slip stream through the terrifying flat out Masta kink.
@richroo has another scare through the next corner as his rear once again develops a life of his own. I go for the inside of the corner, but my momentum carries me further out than I anticipate, and all of the sudden I'm right behind a rejoining
@richroo. I brake as soon as a realize, but it's not fast enough and I hit the back of his car. Turning my head and looking back, I'm relieved to see he didn't spin.
From thereon it's a lonely race.
@rj5992 in front of me slowly disappears into the distance, and
@beachboy6658 behind me has trouble matching my pace. I have a clear track in front of me, so I pit as late as possible, and generally drive fast but sensibly. I don't want to push my luck with trees and ditches everywhere
I manage to keep my concentration and bring home a podium finish
