The theme for week 78 as chosen by week 76 winner, @Boffin, is:

"You mirin?

Its very easy to see your own photos as a completely natural editing progression - but what about others? How do they see them and how do they see and distinguish your work in general? For this comp, I'd like everyone to pick someone who frequents (to any extent, really) these parts of GTP and put their style into your own work. The name of the person you choose should go in the image info along with the rest of the details one usually puts."

I'm sorry, but I don't really understand the theme. Am I suppose to take someone else's picture and edit it, or am I suppose to shoot in someone else's style, but with my own post processing, or am I suppose to post process in someone else's style, or both? Or did I get it all completely wrong?

I understood it as we are supposed to shoot and edit in someone else's style.

edit: err, maybe we are only supposed to edit in someone else's style. Yeah that's how it reads to me.

I read that as shooting the pic yourself but how you envisage how another member would shoot it.
Same goes for the editing process, edit it how you think the other member would.

@casey_2005 and @Shaun are correct. People are to shoot and edit their own stuff, but taking inspiration from other's approaches. "put their style into your own work". I apologise if there has been confusion about this and if people have an objection then I am fine changing it to an open theme if it all seems like a flop...

The theme for Week 79, as chosen by week 77 winner Solo, will be Light and Shadow.

We often look for light traps and such but how about playing with shadows across our subjects too or even how shadows themselves create an interesting image.

This will close on Friday 18th September at 11:59pm BST.

Seeing as it's now been two weeks I will set the next theme tonight/tomorrow when I am home from work. Hopefully that will encourage some more entries.

Seems like last year this time, the comp is in a bit of a slow patch.

With moving to film, my contributions are likely to be sporadic at best.

It is still on, but as @Mike Rotch says, the comp seems to have hit a bit of a slow patch and I apologies if it's been for my occasional tardiness in posting themes and polls.


I will leave this open for a few more days to give @Crash time to submit a theme for the next round.
