Great stuff battling for 4th. Not as exciting as the awesome fight for 2nd in Moto2, but still, very good!

Yeah the fight in Moto2 was fantastic!

Especially from Corsi who started 26th on the grid and finished 3rd!!!!!....Mega drive from him...đź‘Ť

Anyone fancy Spies for Rossi's replacement for the rest of the season?

Sounds like the obvious choice but I believe there is a new rule this year that rookies canÂ’t ride for the factory teams so that would stop Spies stepping in. Edwards would be a good choice but not based on current form. Troy Bayliss could be an option as he doesnÂ’t have a ride this year.

Spies is awesome. And would give a Lorenzo a good challenge. Anyone else (besides factory riders Stoner and Pedrosa who are not a possibility) won't be up to it. Not sure he can, as stated, for being a rookie. Bayliss is not in the game and may not adapt in time to be competitive enough to their standards.

Bayliss has been out of competitive racing for a while but he has ridden MotoGP before and he is a very talented guy so although he wouldn't be on Lorenzo's pace he'd have a good chance of getting the bike home and not be last. The team have a contractual obligation to MotoGP to find a replacement rider and they can only miss 3 races so they need someone by Catalunya on 4th July.

Got ya, to be honest I doubt Fiat Yamaha is going to be able to get anyone who will be capable of running at the front and it sounds like they would rather not replace Rossi but they need to get the bike back on the track to keep MotoGP happy and I bet their sponsors want that too.

Who do you reckon they will get? I haven't got a clue to be honest, glad it's not me job to sort it out!

Sincerely do not know. There is also the possibility of the driver making some changes/adjustments to the bike that go the wrong way for Rossi and that would be a mess...

Maybe Rossi should be the one naming his replacement. Someone he knows and rides the same style. I think he likes Simonceli, although he may not be eligible as well.

Anybody going to Silverstone next weekend? I'm off to see my first ever Moto GP round, but it's a bit disappointing that Rossi won't be riding.

Very jealous mate, it'll be awesome even without Rossi. I've been to the MotoGP at Donington but I've never been to Silverstone and won't be going this year :grumpy:

If you get any decent photos post them here đź‘Ť

BUMP

Guess what's on this weekend? Get an idea of the new track here and click here for your local time.

It's father's day on Sunday so I'm planning on milking it and watching all 3 races and the build up :D

I forget my camera today, I'll take my camera tomorrow on Sunday. But man those bikes are fast, they were doing 193mph in the Hangar Straight, they're no quieter than the F1 cars I'm used to seeing at Silverstone aswell.

You tend to get to see more on the Saturday as there's less people there, I managed to get a couple of photos of Rossi on qualifying day at Donington which are in the album in my profile but the camera was rubbish so they're not great. Hope you have more success with you photos :)

Also there's more of a chance to meet the riders if you do a bit of motor home stalking ;)

Free practice finished with Pedrosa fastest followed by De Puniet, Lorenzo, Stoner, Dovizioso then Hayden. Qualifying has just started!

Got back a while ago, was really hoping de Puniet could get the pole, but I'm glad him and Pedrosa are on the front row. I didn't get many photos but i got a few vids to upload and i'll still try and get some more today.

Pedrosa did 201.5mph on the Hangar Straight today. Mega.

Uploaded three of my vids, they're only quick ones I took on the Hangar Straight, I'll try and take one of the start from my grandstand at Vale tomorrow. (got some cool of vids of Dougie Lampkin doing a display from the infield, I'll upload them if anybody wants me to)

Sorry they're not great but I was trying to get around and see everything today so I only took quick ones, I did have some cool vids of the GP and 125cc bikes tearing into Maggots but they messed up on my camera.

The sound on the vids is great đź‘Ť Definitely post the ones of Dougie when you have time, the guys is a legend of epic proportions.

I've only just watched qualifying, can't believe how well De Puniet did! I hope Pedrosa is ok to race tomorrow, can't really find anything conclusive about him yet.

On autosport it said he's bruised but can race.

Can someone tell me why is eurosport always behind BBC2?

It's because the BBC got the exclusive rights to show the race live in the UK but Eurosport can show it an hour or two later. I hate the commentary on BBC so I always watch it on Eurosport, better late than annoying. What really hacks me off is when the BBC think the broadcast time is inconvenient so show it late on BBC3 after Eurosport has shown it or worse only show it through the red button so you can't Sky+ it. As you can tell I'm not impressed with BBC's attitude to non-F1 motorsport!

On a less grumpy note it's a nice day for a race :)

Fantastic race for 2nd place today in motogp...really enjoyed that and great to see Spies on the podium!!!...

I'm gutted de Puniet didn't get on the podium, he deserves something for his epic riding style.

I may be slightly biased but I thought Lorenzo's celebrations were pretty cool although when ever anyone does something like that I just think they’re trying to copy Rossi.

Great result for Spies and big shame for De Puniet. Pedrosa had a pretty bad day too but I guess a couple of crashes will do that to you!

Don't forget the pics and videos Duffers đź‘Ť

I'll update the first post in the next couple of days.

I wished I got to see racing around the new Silverstone layout. How do you see the new Silverstone layout compared to the past layout with these MotoGP machines?

I think it’s a decent improvement over the previous layout, it’s still fast and seems to have a better flow to it. I know they’ve moved a lot of earth to give some elevation change which is always good, it’s the elevation changes at Donington and Oulton Park that make them some of my favourite tracks.

I found a little article about the MotoGP guys and their Silverstone impressions here.

I really liked what I saw of the circuit on the weekend. Although, the new Abbey appears to be more suited to motorcycles and probably wont quite be the overtaking oppertunity for F1 that the old Abbey was. Arena is a nice addition, I like fast, flowing circuits to have a bit of a technical section to throw off the racers. There were a few incidents in there on the weekend but they could've been due to the bumpy surface. All-in-all, the new section more than makes up for the lack of Bridge and Priory.

As for the race, thoroughly enjoyed it. The battle for second was just awesome, it was great to see Spies get on the podium even if it meant Hayden missed out by one position for the fourth time this season. Stoner's luck this season hasn't been the best, but he did a brilliant job to charge through the field from the rear of the grid and to eventually finish 5th.

Agreed the battle for second was great, I really thought Stoner was going to get on the podium but I'm glad it was Spies, hopefully it'll give him the confidence to do it again soon.

BTW don't forget the race this weekend at Assen is on Saturday!

I like the new Silverstone and I had good looks on the net before I went last weekend. My only criticisms are that they've taken all the skill out of Club it's now a double apexer rather than the long acceleration corner it was before where drivers had to balance the throttle all the way around. The other one is the tighter chapel which I hope to god was only for the bikes.
