I loved it when Stoner ran on at the bottom of the hill, it was the first time Elias had seen him in a race since Stoner lapped him at Laguna

Talk about good luck though. A tank-slapper at that point of the track at that speed would be damn scary. That's the only time I can think of where someone went off track, lost that much time, and STILL finished on the podium. Though by the same token, Lorenzo was lucky not to get taken out by Rossi. Too bad the wood elf won, as Lorenzo could've really used that win.

Given my dislike of Stoner - in fact, I hear a few of the riders don't like him very much - I'm kind of glad that he cannot win the title easily in Australia. If he wins at the Island, Lorenzo has to finish third to keep the title fight alive. So Stoner really needs some results to go his way. Of course, Dovizioso and Pedrosa will no doubt ride shotgun for him.

You may hate him, but I like Stoner. He and Marco are my two favorites, these two are hard core fighters and raw talent. My third favorite is Hayden, because of his down to earth and honest nature.

I don't think anyone doubts Stoner's talent, he really is a phenomenal rider, we just don't like his attitude and all round smug-ness; he's basically the Christiano Ronaldo of Moto GP

Moto2 was a great race too, as per usual. I wish Speed would just schedule the Moto2 race for Sunday just before MotoGP, rather than two days later. The races are coming on at 5am, so it's not like they'd be crowding out any of that quality lifestyle and NASCAR programming.

As much as am cheering for Bradl, I can't help but appreciate and admire how Marquez has dominated the last half of the season and spending more time in the gravel then tarmac during the first half.

Stoner better enjoy his day in the sun while he can because once this kid gets a Repsol Honda in MotoGP, its a new Rossi era.

I just wonder where Marquez will end up. He's slated for one more year in Moto2, but I doubt either Repsol seat will be open for 2013... I can't see the wood elf and Alberto Pig being forced out, nor would it make any sense to let Stoner go. What's that leave? LCR and Gresini?

Well, repsol is a spanish sponsor I think, so they may 'recommend' to HRC to find a spot. I dont think he'll wait beyond 2012 for a premier class ride, and HRC would not want him to get picked up by another manufacturer...

Third bike (again) maybe?

They stopped rookies going into factory teams after Lorenzo, so he might do the Simoncelli and have a HRC bike in Gresini's team before they try and put 3 1000cc bikes on the grid (good luck)

Lorenzo is out of the Australian Grand Prix after his fall in practice.

The idiot commetators are ready to crown Stoner as World Champion. Every time they talk about Lorenzo, there's this smirk on their faces despite the fact that Lorenzo might have lost a finger.

Only topped by the One commentators throwing "And what a good sport Stoner is, going to check how Lorenzo is in the medical centre" in every 5 seconds.

I'll just be watching up to the end of Moto2 :D

Nice charge through the field by Marc Marquez. He went through half the grid ... in six corners. He started last, finsihed second behind de Angelis and Bradl.

Bradl needs to man up and make some rough overtakes himself. He has developed a habit of being bullied out the way the 2nd half of the season.

If I was the race steward, I would have given Marquez a whole lot more then a grid penalty for this incredibly dangerous track behaviour. Wilairot is damn lucky he didn't end up a quadraplegic:

I think that if anybody should have been penalised, it should have been the team. The one-minute penalty was enough for Marquez; it's my understanding that Marquez was unaware that the session was over. While you can indicate that the session is over with a flag, you can't always assume that a rider has seen it. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the team to inform their rider that a session has ended. Most do it anyway.

My main concern at the moment is that the Australian commentators will get carried away with Stoner being crowned World Champion that we'll miss the start of the Korean Grand Prix.

I feel sorry and worried with Jorge. Hopefully he will be fine because I've just seen the crash, well it didn't look like it was that serious but then his bike fell on top of his finger and drag it down a couple of meters. I feel sick seeing that picture FahrerGott . Hopefully he will be fine.

A very dark day for Yamaha.

Just watched the race, congrats for Stoner winning his home race on his 26th birthday and bagging his second world championship in the process making him only the 5th person to do it with two different manufacturers! If that doesn't deserve an exclamation mark I don't know what does...! I know he doesn't smile much but he can't half ride a bike quick and he looked pretty chuffed today 👍

The commentators seemed pretty neutral to me so I'm not sure what PM is talking about. Still, I'm hoping that picture above was photoshopped (could've used a graphic warning too :ill:). Apparently (and thankfully) the surgery was successful but Lorenzo is going to miss the post-season 1000cc testing. That won't help matters though at least they will have Spies there. I just hope Yamaha and Ducati can close down the gap to Honda next year.

Well, if Stoner had to remind anyone of how fast he is and how hard he can ride a bike, he did it today. At least to me :D

What I like the most, is that (unlike at least one other recently crowned world champion) he doesn't make it look easy or safe. He power slided that Honda countless times and ruled the race in an imperious manner today and in other races, as he did the first time he won the title with Ducati.

He is and he looks fast, it's a pleasure to just see him lap any track, even on his own.

Congratulations Mr Stoner.

Word of recognition for Sic, very good 2nd place.

Too bad for Lorenzo, Spies and Rossi :(

Interesting developments: Dovizioso will take Colin Edwards' seat at Tech 3, and Edwards will ride for a new MotoGP team, BMW Suter, in 2012. Also not entirely new, but the 125cc championship disappears, to be replaced by Moto3, which consists of 250cc four-stroke bikes. Also, Marc Marquez will stay in Moto2 for one more year before Honda has to decide how to get him into MotoGP. Congrats again to Repsol and Casey Stoner.

A Suter chassis and a BMW engine... Very interesting. A shame that Lorenzo is not going to be riding this weekend due to his injury and will be replaced by Katsuyuki Nakasuga.

I have to wonder if Lorenzo will be healthy enough for Valencia, considering his injury...

I'm talking about the local commentators. The world feed is bookended by commentary from One HD, the Australian sports broadcaster.

Oh ok.

With roughly just 10 days left, I don't think he would be fit enough. We don't even know whether his finger is strong enough to handle the brake for what, 45 minutes of the whole race distance?

Just my speculation though, we'll see what happens...

Well, Moto2 will be nerve jangling again if you are a Bradl supporter! He's 2nd on the grid, Marquez 34th after a heavy fall in practice left him battling to have the physical wherewithitall to ride the bike. But, last week he went from 36th to 4th so who would bet against him?!

If Marquez can race he may well win; on such a stop-start track his weight is such an advantage. It was quite a crash that took him out so I doubt he's anywhere near fit enough to battle at Sepang, which is infamous for heat exhaustion. Feel sorry mostly for Smith, it was scary seeing him hit Marc's bike like that, a collarbone is almost a lucky escape.

I like Marquez a lot but I think this will be where Bradl seals the title, though I don't consider him a terribly deserving champion given how dominant Marquez has been pretty much since Le Mans or so.

Yeah my guess is he is effectively out for the rest of the year.
