I'd love to see bikes to be honest... Have car vs bike races... OMG Now I think about it it'd be awesome... It would be the best game ever... 👍

However the poll should have an option of "I want to see bikes in Tourist Trophy 2"... Otherwise we get biased votes from people that are ignorant about bikes and only like cars... 👎

I would adore to see bikes in GT5.

Also, I think it would be very easy to implement them in GT5 and allow everybody who wants to experience them - if they like.

Gran Turismo 5 is built like a "cluster", thus allows for easy and flawless integration of any content - as we witnessed through the past. Since release we seen updates in GUI, menus, all type of content (cars, tracks, parts), items, online and offline features, physics, technical implementations... you name it. From what we know, every single part of the code can be updated separately and can be made to exist in both online and offline.

What does it have to do with Tourist Trophy being implemented in GT5? Everything.

At this point, GT5 is already in the consoles of 6 million people, with hundreds of thousands playing online on regular basis (as we can witness from ranking-spots in time-trials when you achieve very slow times). Also, recent introduction of the DLC content and displayed ability to update not just content itself (as number on R35 TC was updated for instance), but also the policy of managing the content (with Kazunori's announcement of December release of the "Family Upgrade" feature) is clear showcase that Polyphony built an unique "platform" that can be updated anytime and server-based.

Also, GT5 is currently available worldwide as a separate Platinum/Greatest Hits release with reduced price. Now imagine this scenario:

> Tourist Trophy DLC that integrates into GT5 as a full new "*game*, available from the starting screen as a separate icon next to "GT Life". It brings everything we expect from TT game: A-Spec, B-Spec, Career, Licenses, Special Races, Dealerships, Items, Practice Modes, PhotoModes, GT Bike Shop, online Seasonal Events and everything else by the rules we already saw in the original TT game

> All bikes for purchasers of that DLC can be used in Arcade mode/Online for both bike-only or mixed races. If you and your friends wants to race bikes-vs-cars, you can do it at your consideration in the Private Lounges or in specially created Open Race lobbies

With some "Prologue-type" of price for such DLC and easy integration in GT5 I can safely presume how great amount of TTDLC would be sold in the very first dates, while community would do the rest.

They could opt for a standalone release in small quantities of course, or even release it as some future GT5 Spec 3 game with Tourist Trophy included on disc. BUt I would really love to see Tourist Trophy game integrated into existing GT5 just because it would allow to play both universes simultaneously, without need to change discs and full-integration of both offline, and especially online/multiplayer features, would create a really unique driving universe in whole history of the genre.

I really hope it will happen in the (near) future.

EDIT: Also, the very poll above is made to be persuasive and it is clearly made to create a biased-results. Options are biased to achieving a dedicated result of "no" in order to backup personal feel of the author of the poll, but not the acceptable choices. Which is really not OK from perspective of anyone who thinks different than poll-author.

That an interesting read, I never really considered the "modular" nature of GT5. That would make it seemless to add bikes for those that would want it and those that don't can ignore it. Here's hoping that PD do it then!

NO. PD needs to focus on cars and fix all the bad stuff first.

They have already been losing focus with Nascar, rally, formula cars and karts. The best thing you can say about all these is that the cars are there. But they all suck in their own way because they lack tracks and the game does not implement the various rules of the respective leagues.

GT5 is not a Nascar game, not an F1 game, not a WRC game, and it will never become a supermbike game even if they add the bikes.

We need no more half-baked second-class citizens in this game.

Just changed my mind. Imagine what fun it would be to see if your car could keep up with the bike!

Bike vs RS6. YES PLEASE i will be in the RS6 Ofcourse

Awesome post as always Mr. Amar. Should be in the OP to make people think with a bit more of freedom about bikes in GT5.

I would prefer it if PD stick to bikes in Tourist Trophy. Too much car related stuff to complete in GT5 as it is.

EDIT: After reading Amar's post, I can see that it might not take much effort to put bikes into GT5. This will be a divisive subject as many feel that GT should be all about cars. With so many standards to turn premium and so many awesome cars missed from the vehicle roster, not forgetting tracks, it would be hard to not feel cheated if PD spent time modelling bikes. Unless of course they hire extra staff. Like an army of them.

That's precisely why I chose not to vote; but I think these sorts of polls speak for themselves, especially when you look at the options and think "none of these".

To comment on the main point of your post, I also neglected to consider the modular nature of GT5. What you suggest sounds great, but I'd prefer it if the TT "expansion pack" (remember those?) could also be distributed on disc, too, as I'd prefer to have a hard copy (yet I'm an avid Steam user... :boggled:).

Ideally, then, the TT expansion could, if necessary, function standalone from GT5, for those that don't already have it (don't alienate potential customers!). Or maybe have GT5 already included on the "TT disc" (i.e. your idea of a Spec 3 disc version, like GT5:P Platinum, with TT content included and reduced to the same price as the TT "DLC" expansion.)

It's getting complicated...

I feel a GT5 TT DLC might work better than a TT2. With a DLC, you can add the features you would find in a TT2 project, but with less pressure to make the game as expansive. This would give PD more time to go back to GT5/6 related tasks, but give people the TT update they would like. It would also make it the first pseudo-sim that included bikes alongside cars.

While we are at it why not have some ski runs and slaloms implemented in GT? Modelling ski's for the driver avatars wouldn't be time consuming and the Eiger Norwand track would only need a slope rendering to make it possible.

GT5 The Real Ski Simulator.

Logitech could even build a Skiing Force GT to go with.

Exactly... 💡 :sly: :dopey:

-All the kart tracks on the courses should be usable.
-We could even have jet ski's and windsurfing boards on the lakes.
-How about speedboat races too?
-Red bull air races could be hosted over the larger tracks (All the planes are modelled and ready to go in the aircraft hangar)
-RC cars could also be introduced both for tournaments and drift runs
-RC planes while we are at it
-Hovercrafts could also feature for a bit of 80's nostalgia
-If racing bikes are to feature, how about motocross and trial bikes?

C'mon PD... and while you are at it how about replicating the whole of Tokyo for us to drive around in (with working indicators for our cars).

EDIT:

-Nostalgia steam locomotives could feature from all around the world (Steam DLC pack)
-Diesel train DLC pack
-Ferries could also feature (Not Ferrari's; ferries)
-Tugboats
-Supertankers
-Submarines
-And the taco stand for the Nurburgring (The Taco DLC Pack)

We already have the Tank Car and the Schwimmwagen so I can't see why they shouldn't add more tanks in the game. What about ships? People don't use only cars. What about elicopters or a jet pack? With the racing suits should be truly awesome.

Oh and yes, I know about Gran Turismo HD but it's vaporware.

I still have it on my console 👍

I think it would be a great addition to the game. If PD manage to get partnership with Moto GP or WSB/BSB that would be even better!

I hope someone at PD remember the game is called "GT" so they should think about adding proper GT cars first of all.

Sounds brilliant! 👍

I suppose the argument is that one team can only do so much, so we (collectively as individuals, with individual and often particular desires) are only ever going to be disappointed, no matter what PD choose to do next. It seems you'd be disappointed if bikes were to be included "at the expense" of something you'd rather see.

Frankly, I'll take what I can get, despite my disappointment.

I Will more that likely be beaten, but Could A Fully tuned RS6 Keep up? (gt5)

Im not Very good at all with the motocycle side of life :sly:

It's quite a heavy car tbh... I daubt it would beat the Ducati on slicks, that bike has 186HP and weights 164kg... that's 1.13HP per kg :sly: and the best sounding engine on two wheels... 👍

I'd love to have cars against motorbikes in GT5, then it would truly become motorsport bible with everything from cars to bikes...

I still want TT:2 tho :dopey:

I mostly agree with what Amar and Griffith500 wrote earlier as I also would welcome a bike expansion pack DLC option to import into GT5, not necessarily because of the possibility of car versus bike action, even just occasionally for a laugh, but mostly for the sake of convenience.
I use a DS3 so I could just freely move from a car onto a bike without switching discs and being exposed to loading times and it would be a rather nice experience to adopt from driving to riding instantly and vice versa within the same game.

Now there are many ways to implement it (as Amar pointed out) and that also depends on whether they only offer bikes as content (perhaps treated similar to karts) or offer a separate game mode, GT Life and TT Life for example.
If the latter is chosen, then I don't see why they couldn't also offer it as a standalone title (TT2) on a disc, for those who just like to have it on a disc, or for those who are only interested in bikes.

I don't know how many of those who bought the original TT only bought that game without buying GT4, I'm guessing the majority of those who bought TT already had GT4 and those only interested in bikes form a relative minority.
If that market share is neglectable they might choose the simpler (and cheaper) option of just offering bikes without a thoroughly redesigned separate game structure like TT Life which means they're perhaps just added to enjoy in free practice and can be raced online in dedicated rooms (or add a few bike A-spec/Seasonal events).

Ofcourse I'd prefer a full TT Life game mode although I'd settle for just having a bunch of BMW's and Hondas (and Ducati, Kawasaki, Yamaha, etc.) sharing space in my garage with my other BMW's and Hondas (and Ferrari, Mazda, Nissan, etc.). ;)

This!!! +10000!!!! 👍

That Aston... I'm so frustrated GT5 doesn't has it... :grumpy:

No bikes.
In Tourist Trophy the AI bikes NEVER passed each other. While riding it was good until the bike got loose and then it was floaty and just felt wrong.
Need a TT2 to correctly fix these and other issues the game had.

It's more content to the game so why not.

On the other hand, PD's priority should be to fully implement every car class that's already in gt5.

- No point in having WRC cars if there isn't a single rally nor special course in the game.
- There are some F1 tracks, but 2 (or 3 with FGT) cars.
- Top Gear's license could be used in a much better way with the license they already have, for example by creating an special event or a seasonal with the 3 reasonably priced cars featured in the show (btw none of them is in the game right now), or by doing the replay cameras properly.
- and most importantly, GT5 is hardly a game that features GT races. Last week I'd have posted that it completely isn't.

of course the biggest addition to the game would be a fully rendered cockpit view for all standard cars, but most probably we'll see that in GT6.

Many F1 tracks are used by different leagues of motorsports.

No, no bikes in GT5 please. PD should concentrate on couple of more DLCs like a classic track pack(all the previous original GT tracks like Seattle, Apricot hill, etc.)and some recent 2010/11/12 production and racing cars. After that they should start fully working on GT6, I don't care if it's released on PS3 or PS4, but they have to make it absolutely EPIC.:)
